Big Jon McCarthy is the guy who literally helped write the UFC rule book and he shut this ridiculous reaching BS down by DC and Chael. Said Herb Dean was 100% Correct in the whole fight, Pereira was the fouled fighter, and per UFC rules, controls the length of time, If any taken for the groin shot. They literally nodded at each other, start hand fighting, touch and release 3 times, then on the 4th touch, Hill throws a slow left cross that gets countered right in the middle of his strike, as Pereira slips the left cross. ☝️🤔

When a fighter's ego takes over and they're desperate to get back in there and redeem themselves, it's a dangerous game. There's no way his brain has fully recovered after a big KO and a hundred Pereira hammer fists. If Rountree flatlines him, he'll be out of the game for a year at least unless he's literally trying to turn his brain into Swiss cheese.

Also Guru makes a very good point that if Jamahal had survived that sequence and made it through, nobody would be focusing on the damage he took, it's only because it resulted in a loss. He didn't get beat up, it was just one good shot and a quick ending. Most guys take more damage than that in a win. A quick turnaround is the right move, respect to Hill.

The ref was indecisive and allowed Pereira to override him. Hill was essentially sucker-punched while being distracted. Big Pereira fan but this didn't feel like a legit win. A ref needs to make a decisive move and can't drag things like that out... Can't be politically correct about it, it is what it is.

If this fight took place both prior to the Poatan ko and the fact that it's gunna be such a quick turnaround from his very first ko loss, I woulda been leaning at least 60 or 65% in favor of Hill's chances of winning, but now - it's pretty much 50/50. Khalil has been a streaky fighter, but in recent years he went from super athletic power-striker, to now also an extremely skilled Mauy Thai technician to go with a ton of ko power and a decent chin himself. Hill wil have a massive reach advantage, and if he utilizes that reach advantage by staying on the outside picking Roundtree apart at range, in much of the same way Walker did. Roundtree is not the right dude to test your chin against, he's every bit a powerful as the likes of Jan, Jiri, and Magomed with devastating low kicks. Which is why, ei think he needs at a minimum of one more month of recovery. For every Poatan, there's two Tauvasa, (as in taking fights on short notice following devastating ko/tko losses.
The other thing that sucks about this match-up, is the fact that both dudes are in my top 10 favorite fighters in the UFC currently. It was already crappy enough when Poatan fought Jiri and then Hill, with Jiri also being top ten for me, - due to the fact that Alex is by far my clear number 1 fav fighter currently, so a begrudgingly rooted for him in both bouts. But now with Hil and Roundtree, these two I pretty much love them equally, so i have no clue who im gunna root for here. Should be a great fight either way.
I don't think that Hill's quick turnaround is what's interesting here. That's to be expected from a striker.
What I think it is interesting is WHO he's fighting. It isn't Jiri or another high ranked opponent. It seems to me that for the moment UFC is "done" with Hill. They might be counting on him losing after being K.O AND then ground and pounded by the hardest hitter on the division and possibly from UFC.
If Hill loses then Pereira potentially has a opponent. A Striker at that.
How fast hill is coming back is a little worrying.
I do like how he is fighting Roundtree though, lightweight has a massive issue with top 5 only fighting top 5. All “contenders” need to immediately have their next fight be sub top5 opponent to justify keeping a top 5 ranking.
