- So when asked on the MMA Hour interview with Ariel Helwani, Ciryl Gane said he would not fight Tom Aspinall or Sergei Pavlovich and instead said that he wants to wait for his title shot against the winner of Jones vs Miocic, let me know what you guys think in the comments below.

If they offer him Pavlovich or Aspinall and he keeps this same energy, he is getting passed up for the title shot 100%, why would they want a guy who lost to both Ngannou AND Jones holding the belt after those two are gone anyway.
Aspinall and Pavlovich have been scheduled to fight each other before. Pavlovich will fight anyone and Aspinall has said that if Gane doesn't want it he'll take on Sergei.

His trainer, Ferdinand Lopez is also completely delusional. I saw some interviews with him and he always finds some stupid excuses why his fighter lost. He seems to be someone overly confident who ignores mistakes or holes in his fighters' game. I think he has a role in why Gane is so delusional.

I think, and that’s just a possibility, that lopez and Gane know how little he really worked on his wrestling and JJB. He fought volkov lewis Jairzinho and JDS, no wrestlers there, and got out wrestle by ngannou. He then won against tai who got taken down by Lewis in his last fight, and got embarrassed by jones. Gane is a great person but I don’t think he is champion material. He chooses the « easy » way every time. And his team doesn’t understand that it’s a good way to pile title shots, but will never be the way for him to become a champion. He needs to get out of his confort zone, and prepare himself to fight the new generation of heavyweights, Jailton, Aspinal etc…
Many people in France knows that Fernand Lopez is incompetent as a trainer. Cedric Doumbe (multiple glory champ) is the most vocal about this and he was training at his gym a short time before he went out. Lopez likes to control his fighters.

I honestly lost a lot of respect for Gane after that Jones loss. Firstly because of how he talked before the fight and then showed up to the fight and didn't follow any sort of gameplan and fought scared, then got tapped like an amateur in 60 seconds. Here's what I think the deal is : Fernand Lopez is talking through Gane's lips. Gane wouldn't be so categoric on his own and we know for a fact that he always follows his master for better or worst. He has used this narrative since UFC Paris in French medias and I hoped he would stop before embarassing himself on the global scene but here we are. Do you remember Tom said the ufc didnt allow him into the cage in Paris after Gane's fight ? For me it cant be UFC's decision cause promo is always good for them and Gane would never take such a bold initiative to ask this of them, he doesnt care that much anyway. Fernand asked for it because he knows both matchups are really risky and with the backlash he got for Ngannou and Jones fight he thinks of nothing else than get the title asap to close a lot of mouths in France, embarassing his student in the process. I don't think what kind of leverage he thinks he has over Hunter Campbell but that's a crazy bet that I don't think he can win what so ever.
Gane always followed Fernand cause he took him this far but no he should learn to tell him when he is wrong. Even French medias are saying it's dellusional and French fans are dreaming of a France vs UK card in Paris or London with a Gane vs Aspinall headline.

It was obvious Gane was ducking Aspinall in the post fight octagon interview when Aspinall was right there in the crowd and Gane was asked about him. Fight could have been made right there, and Gane just ignored the question.

They didn’t look like they wanted to hit each other at all, Gane made no attempt to defend the takedown or submission. It just looks weird to me and I’ve been a fan of the sport a long time.
There’s a difference between being unskilled at wrestling and BJJ and not even making an effort to fight back at all. If you put an amateur in a BJJ or wrestling competition, you’re still gonna see them attempt to fight back and struggle in some way (unsuccessfully) but you can see the attempt. Gane didn’t.
Maybe he just completely crumbled mentally (which is plausible) but that fight will remain sus forever to me. It looked worse than any of the supposed fixed fights I saw in PRIDE.

Tbf gane doesn’t seem cowardly I think a lot of guys that say these kinda things are putting on a front but I think he genuinely means it for the reasons he says. If people were to call him scared for this, I genuinely believe he would be confused.

And while having the above killers, we now have the surrender/scared frenchman who is on a 1 fight finish streak against Spivak which took him 9 minutes to complete, it took Tom 2:30 minutes to finish Spivak.
