Imagine Ryan Hall vs Kron Graycie just rolling all over the ring at eachother 😂
Octagon not ring

@@DubyasUFCAnalytics ohhhhh nooooo I said ring not octagon 😢
Joe Rogan would cream his shorts
Ryan Hall can strike a bit unless he breaks his hand like in the fight against Topuria. He has no wrestling tho
I think the biggest problem with BJJ is 90% of the training starts on the ground and there is almost no takedown practice whereas wrestling is the opposite
yeah it's weird , they gotta set it up with grapple ... or ground , like you said ... some of the BJJ during fights can be entertaining ... i get frustrated when they use the wrestling to dominate control (ragdolling) or wrapping the legs .. it's worse than the BJJ ...i swear lolol ... i love stand up .. but i can appreciate certain aspects of BJJ and wrestling ... that last Merab fight was terrible , just a boring thing to see .. the way i see it ..IF you aren't doing submission attempts or ground and pound with a ton of takedowns ... it's boring for fans , you aren't doing much damage ..it's point fighting ... basically trying to gas the guy and get the decision win .. great strategy ..but sucks to watch
Yep, I've given up on rooting for BJJ elites VS Wrestling elites now, the BJJ guy wants the wrestler in his guard, not realizing the wrestler ALSO trains submissions and control, but does so from a superior position.
I had to leave a bjj gym because everybody hated me after using an uchi mata in the "wrestling" class, the coach only wanted single and double legs without lifting the opponent.

@@MrFredstt 🤣😂 the guy was so pissed when my oldest son subbed his best student 3 times and my other son who's younger stalemated him. To be honest guru is on point making this video because I've always thought about how JJ could be fixed and it's with wrestling/Judo(real not Olympic) fusion, it essentially just becomes Sambo at that point though. Whenever I get rich I'm going to start a dojo here in the rough neighborhood I live in. I'm going to hire a kickboxing guy for the striking, and get a wrestler, judoka and a sambist together to develop an aggressive style that's similar to Sambo but with an American twist. Brute strength and aggression is just toxic masculinity... No place for that in BJJ!
BJJ needs more wrestlers teaching
What exactly happens if in a real fight someone decides to use brute strength 😂
Jiu Jitsu is essential for MMA but you can't win on old school jiu jitsu anymore because people now know how to defend it
It hasn't been like that in nearly 15 years. Maia and Charles still got subs but it came from offensive wrestling or from their striking. Guys like Kron, Puelles, and Hall don't get far in today's sport

Idk about "essential" I think solid boxing, wrestling, and judo if you want could do fine....if someone was good in those and never learned a shred of bjj that they could do just fine in MMA.
@PJ Rivera yeah you can't do the Anderson silva vs sonnen move anymore. To slow to patient. You have to immediately throw up subs, elbows, attempt sweeps ect. To get the advantage on your back

Rickson Gracie has an issue with the state of BJJ today. He contends that it needs to be taught as a self defense rather than the sport BJJ aspect that has become more prevalent. One of the biggest problems with BJJ gyms is they don't do conditioning. Class is like 1 hour and they learn and practice some techniques but don't finish with any conditioning. I've seen HS wrestlers giving elite BJJ guys a really hard time simply because they can overpower the BJJ guy. That's probably also why roids are rampant in the BJJ world.
they also demonise athleticism. If you try to use superior strength and conditioning you are “muscling it”
That's not a problem at all. You are trying to compare recreational players with top competitors. The high school wrestlers should try and compete with BJJ competitors who compete frequently and succeed. The results would be a lot different.

Wrestling with a little BJJ isn't enough? Uhhh, Usman, Askren, Sonnen. It's pretty easy to name of few just off the top of my head. Usman only developed any decent striking after he was champ
Its multiple factors some of them are somewhat stubborn and think its still 1993 so they don't really try hard to learn other martial arts
Other factor is jiu-jitsu is kinda slow and not really explosive that much so they don't focus that much on their athletic side and mma requires u to be pretty athletic
They're obsessed with technique and don't give athletic ability that much care like traditional martial arts like wushu or something they just practice the moves usually and don't focus on being an athlete
Jiu-jitsu also has weak takedowns and being not explosive makes them a bit slower at striking until they give it full attention
People forget that as long as you train wrestling and striking you only really need like basic bjj. Even in self defense if you've trained bjj for a like a year you can most likely handle anyone with no grappling experience

Jiu Jitsu is absolutely essential to MMA and by far the most difficult of the three to get good at. I understand what you're saying. However, Kron and Ryan were literally doing NOTHING BUT Jiu Jitsu in a MMA match which consists of striking, wrestling and Jiu Jitsu. You cannot just be one dimensional and expect to win. Interweaving your Jiu Jitsu with your wrestling and striking is key and if you lack Jiu Jitsu you simply won't be able to compete. Although, some people have success being one dimensional once its discovered they have no ground game its game over.
Usman and guys like Colby counter that, Usman and Colby have mid striking and elite wrestling with extremely low level BJJ it’s why they’re mostly decision machines, their style of wrestling with zero BJJ carried them on a wave of Ws to the top if you’re a wrestler you just need basic BJJ defense tbh its supplementary. It's hard to catch something that doesn't wanna get caught.
Catch wrestling was deemed too dangerous for American schools since it involved chockes and bone breaking submissions. So the schools modified it taking out the submissions and chokes and called it Folkstyle wrestling. Catch wrestling is what Helio was tought under some Catch wrestling submissions specialist. Helio then just relabled Catch wrestling moves Into Gracie JJ. That's why the rear naked chock is in Gracie JJ but it was originally called a sleeper hold. Another move relabled was the triangle which was called "The fighure Four leg lock. The Gracies stole everything from Catch Wrestling and never gave credit from where it came from mainly Frank Gotch.

One of the lamest things you can see in MMA is a jiu jitsu guy lying on his back opening his legs trying to coax his opponent into jumping into his guard. This is because the jiu jitsu guy can neither take his opponent down nor stand up with him.
This fighter won a fight refusing to go down and kept kicking the legs of the bjj guy. I should add it goes both ways some stand up guys are clueless on the ground. It's not easy to be all rounded
facts
After 30 years of BJJ in the limelight none of the BJJ gurus ever thought of adding wrestling as part of the system and would rather add hundred of useless submissions that would never work in real life or combat sports.
Never seen anyone get caught in a twister or electric chair. 😂
Strange casual comment
So, there’s two issues:
1. Wrestling requires athleticism and BJJ guys are pathetic and unathletic, generally
2. The amount of time it requires to learn BJJ techniques doesn’t allow for extensive training of similar disciplines
Judo makes more sense
@@Jannakennels I forgot about Judo, judo would be very good if it was original Judo and not the olympic kind.
What with the scoring if control time and takedown winning fights , wrestling n has an advantage there as well.
Lmao this has to be one of the best and the funniest videos you've ever made. Never change Guru.
Lmao been waiting for this video. Long time coming
Thinking BJJ is the ultimate martial art is like thinking the earth is flat
Wrestling literally trumps every martial art in mma , and decent wrestler from college in America or the cliffs of Dagestan would destroy most BJJ black belts in a fight
Folkstyle wrestling is way better just look at all the UFC and Bellator champions most of them have a background in Folkstyle Wrestling in high school, college, graduate school, army or WORLD TEAM.
Ian garry actually started his mma journey through doing jiu jitsu classes just getting himself in the gym
But ian garry chose to take kickboxing classes and work on his standup until it was his best weapon.
as someone who had kron gracie to submit charles, it was an embarrassing performance.
It was basically Aljos/Ryan halls strategy except humiliating the family name of the gracie.
being a gracie and couldn’t even keep top position or get effective takedowns was yucky
also kron garcie is a judo black belt and couldn't get a takedown lol
u bet on kron ahahahaahahhaahahhhaa
So happy for Ian garry
@@MrSpiralling jiu jitsu fighters get fake Judo belts
Disrespectful to put Aljo in the same bank as Ryan Hall. He is one of the most well-rounded fighters in MMA today. Is a dynamic striker, has a college wrestling background, and has the most dangerous BJJ in his division, on top of having a good gas tank. Hence him being the champion in a now stacked division.
I’m dead. Never change guru. 😂
practice Jiu Jitsu without practice wrestling in MMA is like trying to shoot a gun whitout ammo
He's so right. The thing I hate most about BJJ guys is they do nothing fucking else. I could do two hours of muay Thai then it's BJJ class and if I get tapped out, they be celebrating hard like I didn't just train and hard spar literally for two hours while they sat and watched like fans 😂.
This is where the OG's of BJJ were worried about sport BJJ spending too much time developing unrealistic positions when there are strikes involved. But let's be real, if you don't have a balanced skill set you aren't ever going to make it to top 15 in UFC in today's era.
sport jiu jitsu isn’t necessarily the problem. There’s no striking in wrestling yet it transfers so well. The problem is sport jiu jitsu rarely rewards takedowns and winning on points without a submission is common. Jiu Jitsu competitions should be submission only and with tie breakers going to the guy who secured the takedown(s).
bro imagine wrapping your legs around another guys neck and trying to win a fight like that 🤦♂️ 😂 triangles are gay
It's simple, striking attracts fighters, wrestling attracts athletes and bjj attracts bullying victims that don't want to get hurt.
well said
Beautifully put. Jiujitsu is so cringe! Jiujitsu is e route to become the next CrossFit.
Don't insult CrossFit. There's little worse than brain-dead meatheads who think being a complete athlete (crossfitters) is 'cringey'. Wrestlers are CrossFit athletes.
Rugby league is the best combat sport as a base. Both Volkanovski and Tuisava both played high level rugby league and even though they started mma late they are both top UFC fighters.
Broncos are ripping it up this season.
Union is better
The amount of facts packed in this video is insane
Firas Zahabi said the main reason these Jiu-Jitsu guys don't perform is the complete lack of strength and conditioning in the training. Wrestling IS strength and conditioning, and they also do lifting and other work. Jiu-Jitsu guys often just don't have drive or strength, or the ability to get the takedowns they need.
I think it’s worth noting that what you’re saying was originally one of the selling points of BJJ-that it is a self-defense art specifically for the smaller, weaker, less athletic people of the world. The Gracies did claim that was the entire point. So what you’re saying is actually not that shocking or surprising at all. Helio Gracie himself said that the objective is not necessarily to win, but to survive. To not lose. Which, for someone who is small, weak, and unathletic, is kind of important if you’re ever unfortunate enough to wind up in a fight. Realistically, that person is not going to KO or double leg their attacker. The goal was to not be a total sitting duck, to let the fight go to the ground and then to be able to survive, wait for the other guy to gas out and then either escape or submit them.
Honestly, as a NoGi only guy, I definitely notice what you are talking about but I notice it mainly with Gi purist. I think it's something about the Gi being traditional and how far gone it is from modern MMA that breeds that kind of environment. I've spoken to a few of Gi purist myself and they usually tell me they prefer Its slower, they have grips to stall, it's more traditional, they're old, etc.
Oh come one. No one who trains in a gi for recreation or competition does so for MMA. If they want to train MMA, they train no gi grappling, along with other arts. A gi wearing environment doesn't have anything to do with breeding any kind of environment for MMA.
As a jits guy myself this is one of the greatest vids you’ve put out 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🤣🤣🤣
the person who is best at jiu jitsu is the toughest guy afraid of getting punched in the face
pure jiu jitsu cant change because what theyre doing is what is necessary to be successful in that specific discipline.
the change should be bjj purists training striking and wrestling as early as possible if theyre gonna be mma fighters
Im a jiu jitsu guy but I cant argue! However did you see sage northcut submission in 30 seconds jitz can be like magic sometimes
