- Women's MMA and especially in the UFC is ruining the sport, Holm vs Vieira, Namajunas vs Esparza 2 and many more are terrible garbage with no skill at all, none of them know what they're doing and there must be a reason why? Let me know what you guys think in the comments below.

There’s a girl at my Muay Thai gym who thinks she’s all Bangkok ready cause she yells “oooeee” after every strike & wears Thai shorts. She likes to swing wild on everyone but if we touch her the coach gets mad. One day she was tapping me w kicks (like chun li just sticking her leg straight out & repeatedly tapping her toes on my thigh) & I told her if she did that in a fight she’d get swept. She was like “it’s ok you can’t check”, so the next time she stuck her leg out I grabbed it & swept her right on her back. She was like “that’s not how we spar” & the coach pulled me aside & was like “do we have a problem here?”
This is the attitude toward female fighters. Inflated egos cause they’re protected in the gym & no technique cause the coaches are focused on diddling them instead of training them.

I remember this girl that came into the gym, long story short she didn't liked when the guys went easy on her so, as good of a partner as I am, I said fuck it, let's spar like the boys do, let's just say she didn't complained about the guys going easy on her no more 😂.

Man I have been lucky with my MMA gyms. When I still lived in Flanders (now in the Netherlands) 2 women at some point wanted to try out MMA, the MMA coach told em it's maybe a bit too touchy and too rough and all for them, so they should try out the Muay Thai training. So they did, but never came back. In one of my gyms in the Netherlands we very rarely have women joining too, once I had to partner up with one, we had to throw a kick and then the other had to catch it and do a takedown. Well, my leg on itself was almost bigger than her and when she held it she nearly fell down herself, so I had to practically take myself down to the ground.
This is a solution that I’ve been using, I call women’s fights “bathroom breaks”.
The time it takes from fight to fight half the time already gives you plenty of time to go to the bathroom. This is more like time to drown your sorrows like no tomorrows.
Reading this gave me trenchfoot.

I remember when women first started competing in the UFC. They were so terrible but the fights were super entertaining because they went at it and scrapped with each other knowing that they had something to prove and fought a chip on their shoulders.
The problem right now is that they just don't care. They just want to do the bare minimum so they don't get their faces messed up and they can still post stuff on Instagram and make money

Back then the women had something more to fight for other than money, they wanted to prove to the world that they belong in the organisation (ufc) and they came to fight but now it’s just girls like rose who say dumb stuff like “I don’t wanna mess up my face”
This is why Rhonda, Joanna, cyborg, weili etc will always have my respects because they are just built different from all these other women. They do it for more and you can tell.

He even threatened to cut him but he's barely upset either Rose/Esparza. Atleast Anderson got a knockdown and was dancing around while Maia did absolutely nothing

@@Borgborg128 wasn't it the first show of a deal they arranged in that country, and they tried to make it a big one. Silva shit the bed and Dana was passed because it reflected poorly on the ufc for the deal they cut.
When the ref stopped the izzy/romero fight bc it was boring and he straight up told them “give the judges something to score”

Honestly women's 145 is a joke just like the idea of Nunes being 'the GOAT' of WMMA. Literally as soon as Nunes faced someone who wasn't afraid to throw hands at her weight class she lost. And when Nunes fought Shevchenko the second time she arguably lost to the smaller more skilled fighter. Nunes is just a hyped weight bully.

I'm also a bit disappointed in how many of these WMMA fighters get bonuses, over much more exciting fights and finishes by men 🤷♀️
That's the biggest problem. Because them being on cards just serve as bathroom breaks/intermissions so its not terrible for a female fight to be on a big card. But them giving these scrub broads 10s of thousands that should go to the men who are actually risking their lives and are underpaid is BS.
I suspect the money people in the back give women bonuses on a per capita basis to avoid controversy.

Women’s MMA is only doing well because of two things. 1.) there’s a few hot ones that people will care about. 2.) it’s mixed in with men’s MMA. If UFC had full Womens mma cards, it would die within 3 years due to profit loss.

Literally just don’t talk about the female fights. They want to make just as much money as men whilst taking 1/10th of the damage. Actually disrespectful to the guys that will never be the same because of the entertainment they gave us. Get rid of the women's division, let them fight at Invicta, and lower the heavyweight limit to reduce the amount of Parker Porter's and Roque Martinez's of the divisions and then UFC cards will be way more entertaining

The biggest problem with women's sports in general, is that most of them keep all the parameters the same as men's sports. And because they are nowhere near as good physically, it just becomes a crappy show.
Women's mma should only be 3 min rounds. There needs to be a sense of urgency, it needs to be chaotic. The lack of skill can be circumvented by an increased in unpredictability and chaos. You can only go all out if you got stamina, and 25 mins is too much. 9 mins for normal fights and 15 for main events. I think that should help raise the entertainment a lot
You could put them in a Sumo-style ring surrounded by sand. You'd get big pushouts and spectacular falls with the athletes eating dirt. It would make up for the lack of knockout power, and you could win by throwing your opponent out of the ring, Bloodsport style.
I may not always agree with Guru, but I admire that he's not afraid to speak his mind and say what many of us have been thinking. I'm not saying the athletes he's discussing should be disrespected as people but the points he raises are valid. The one thing that's become undeniable is the rising prevalence of stalling that keeps happening in WMMA fights in the UFC. Look at Rose/Esparza, Dumont/Chiasson, Holm/Veira, Ricci/Viana etc etc
It keeps happening that one or both athletes don't want to engage and either get on their bike like rose or stall by clinching like Holm and Chiasson where both didn't want to engage their opponents who were actually trying to fight.

It’s not like having women fight brings extra viewership either. Women either watch UFC or they don’t. They don’t tune in just to watch the women fight. Men who were not really into the UFC don’t all of a sudden buy ppv because of the women fights. Guru makes good points, in that they just need to be treated the SAME. Put their fights on the card where they belong, don’t hand out bonuses for nothing, and don’t let them get away with absolute shite like that Rose/Carla atrocity.

@TheNeoSabre0 I disagree with most of this, Michelle is a terrible example because she's from a karate background and karate tournaments are different rules and scoring than UFC and MMA (obviously), but I'll watch women's karate and judo tournaments before I ever watch UFC or MMA women's fighting. I want to like it, but firstly there aren't too many female beauties that fight, and secondly, they're just so untechnical it urks me with my former karate and judo training.
The only genuine solution to the WMMA Question is to only allow Valentina to fight all female fighters, without them fighting each other.
She is massively over rated too, her little leg taps that land with the toes EVERY time, her spinning back fist that NEVER lands, she looks soo good because the rest are just crossfit girls who close thier eyes and walk forwards with swimming arms.Look at the women in high level MT and kickboxing, they look like polished fighters, crisp strikes setup correctly and they hit with some venom, not like school girls with noodle arms spraying weak punches all over the show with thier eyes closed.

The UFC needs to do what they did to Colby, but to everyone. It was fucked up when they singled out Colby - but that should be the standard applied to everyone. It doesn't matter if you're winning your fights, stay boring and get cut from the UFC.

The problem is there is a way smaller pool for wmma, because the proportion of women that do mma to men is like 20 to 1, but the ufc is still signing a large quantity of women for some reason (about 2 men to 1 woman if you factor in the fact that, not counting FW, they only have 3 divisions, even though it should technically be 20 to 1), which means they’re going to be getting way lower level fighters just to fill up spots. Based on the ratio of women actually doing mma professionally to men doing it professionally, to have the same “quality control”, there would be a total of about 9 or 10 women in the entire ufc, which wouldn’t even be enough for a division with a top 15, let alone 4 divisions
If you got the 10 best/most entertaining female fighters, then i’m sure their fights would on average be way better and probably on par with men’s mma, but the problem is not many women are even doing mma so the ufc ends up signing a bunch of low level amateurs basically, like imagine if the ufc had 10x as many male fighters, the lower level fights would be terrible because they’d be signing regional fighters with almost no experience
That's true, but even the best 10 WMMA fighters are lackluster, their performances are consistently weaker than the MMMA counterparts.

You hit the nail on the head. Even Nunez vs Pena was bad because of how untechnical it was. I remember watching it was my friends and them screaming their heads off, and I was just like this is dog shit. They were literally hitting eachother with the same punches with no defense. The Jiujitsu was equally bad. Pena didn’t even have the hooks in for that finish. This isn’t 1993. That shit shouldn’t happen
In defense of Peña not having her hooks in, nunes was already done and peña wasn't necessarily the most lucid at that point.

UFC should introduce a 3 strike boring fight system. Where if a significant strike isnt landed or the fighters are standing at range doing nothing, they get 1 strike after a certain point. 3 strikes and the fight is ruled no-contest.

ONE Championship has yellow and red cards for inactivity. Getting shown the red is a disqualification and goes as a loss on the fighter's record. In an event a few months ago Herb Dean red carded a fighter for refusing to engage.

The problem with WMMA is the overall shallow talent pool. If you scout through Tapology's regional rankings, scouting for what female fighters may be on the way up, a very clear picture emerges:
First of all, you have no female regional rankings seperated by weight class. You just have one general category, labled "women". There simply aren't enough to warrant rankings seperated by weight class! And still there is no depth.
The US Southwest rankings, for example, show 105 women (including amateurs) vs 1.879 men. The p4p list of the Midwest women is led by a 6-4 fighter! And she is already fighting for Bellator and/or Invicta. It doesn't look much better in other regions.

You’re spot on. I literally plan my night around the women’s fights. Like I’ll see when they are and plan to go eat or take a shower when they happen. The women wouldn’t make any money fighting under their own promotion, so they’ll fight tooth and nail to stay. UFC never should have let that cat out of the bag.
The last two Namajunas fights have been at the exact same time as when Canelo is fighting....which is perfect since I can halt watching the mma and watch the Canelo fight. Sometimes you need to realize the positives. The bar turns volume on for the UFC to volume on for the Canelo fight and when the Canelo fight ends they put the volume on for Usman/Covington and Oliveira/Gaethje. Strategic !!! I'll bet if they go up against CANELO/GGG III on Sept 17 that Esparza vs whoever will be in the UFC co-feature if a PPV night :)
There are probably less than ten potential fights in all of female divisons I'm excited about, while in male divisions there are 10 potential fights for each fighter in top 10 I'm excited about.

Glad I'm not alone in this sentiment!! The WMMA fights are always terrible. The UFC is forcing something on viewers that nobody wants. I really wish they separated the men's and women's events. I doubt a "stacked" WMMA only event wouldn't even be able to sell out the Apex

Everyone’s missing the reason why Dana/UFC were happy about Rose/Esparza: CHINA MONEY. By leaving with the belt somehow and getting Rose out of the picture, Esparza became a sitting duck for Weili to swoop back in and take the belt. UFC wants the belt on her to help expand in China, they needed Rose out of there for that to happen cause Weili was 0-2 against her, this was the best case outcome for business 2 moves ahead.
