In defense of Sandy Claws: Imagine you're doing your job, and some guy you've never met sends these demon children to kidnap you so that he can steal your career and identity. Then you're sent to a villain's lair where he more or less tortures you all night and almost kills you. Santa had every right to be pissed

When we were younger, we'd watch the stop motion Rudolph, and my mom would always shake her head, and say, "Santa wouldnt do that." She is very vocal when there is a subpar Santa. It was mostly this one and the "Twas the Night Before Christmas" rankin bass one. (That one is honestly worse). She also thought Santa wouldn't smoke for health reasons.

I actually liked the Twas the Night Before Christmas and their take on Santa. When I first saw it I found him a bit weird looking, but honestly I like how they stay accurate to the poem and the design works with the look of the special.

Santa Paws was quite a movie to me when I was younger. You know, seeing those girls being abused by that orphanage owner while simultaneously focusing on other characters is quite an experience, at least for me.

Rise of the guardians is based off a young adult book series. It’s a very good series. Has 4 books and gives a backstory to each character. The movie, though different from the book and missed out some of my favourite bits, it did so well at capturing the magic and wonder of the books. Though North is the book…. 🥰
I highly recommend the series. It’s a fun and engaging story.

There's the ongoing theory that all of Rankin/Bass's Christmas movies take place in the same continuity.
And if that's the case, I really want to know how the young cheerful Santa from "Coming to Town" became the grumpy old 8!tch from "Rudolph".
I like to think the Santa from Coming to Town and Year Without are the same Santa because of Mickey Rooney

that's why i see it more as a multiverse than a "cinematic universe" even rudolph becomes a bit of an asshole himself in the shiny new year movie. i don't think rudolph from the 1964 movie is the same rudolph as the 70s sequels, same with santa. no way asshole bully santa from rudolph is the same as the sweet kind generous kris kringle.

Two weeks late, but I actually found a good fanfic explaining how Santa became this way. It's called "It's a Difficult Responsibility" on ao3. "The Revenge of the Winter Warlock" is also a really good and heartbreaking interpretation.

To be fair, he was a bit nicer in the Kingdom Hearts games. He gave Jack a talk as to why he couldn't let Jack be Santa and even gave him a taste of what it was like to be Santa. Though he does imply that he put Sora on the naughty list purely because Riku convinced him into saying he didn't believe in Santa

I recently rewatched the stop motion spongebob special and got freaked out by the Santa during the beginning song, like when the characters say "he has his eyes on them." he just was there looking more cursed than anything.
You should definitely watch the sequels and show, because honestly they're pretty great imo. They definitely help to improve Scott a little and the lore is pretty INSANE.
YES. I watched every single episode and movie at least 2-3 times and I also think they did help Scott improve in my opinion. There’s so much more to unpack in the rest of the series than just the first movie, which is pretty cool.
Santa Clause 2: The Clause is CompHet and the Penalty is Death
the series is... okay. i sort of liked the first season, but i was forcing myself to get through the second one. the original three movies are ones that i still watch every year though
dude the lore of that show is CRAZY i haven’t started s2 yet but man that first season , i honestly liked it better than the original movies BUT THATS JUST ME
One thing I always liked about Santa from "Olive the Other Reindeer" (totally underrated special by the way) is that after all the presents have been delivered, he saves some presents for his staff and crew. That's really thoughtful, and you don't see many Santa's acknowledge the elves like that!
It also leads to one of the elves dropping what I think is the funniest line in the special:
"Uh, boss, from an insurance point of view, the jump ropes, probably not a wise idea."
I haven't got to the point yet but a fun fact about the SCiCtT Kris Kringle and the YWaSC Santa: in Rankin/Bass canon they are the same guy. Mickey Rooney voices both and because of that it connects the two movies. It also connects them with using the same Santa puppets (and Mickey Rooney voicing again) and in not mentioned film Rudolph and Frosty Christmas in July which combines Rudolph Shiny New Year, Frosty Winter Wonderland (not the first frosty, Paul Frees voiced that santa), and the two others mentioned along with some non christmas R/B films
The first Rudolph isn't considered canon because that north pole is never shown or are the characters brought back

Christmas Chronicles Santa is kinda hard to rank, he’s unique but not unique enough to really separate him from other Santa’s. I do like the element that he just knows who everyone is and gets a massive kick out of seeing people all grown up

On Oogie Boogie, that actually made an official comic that him and Jack used to be good friends, but he got corrupted by the old Pumpkin King before Jack. He pretty much got fed the bugs that twisted him bad.
I'm surprised Kurt Russell's Santa from _The Christmas Chronicles_ 1 and 2 isn't in the list. The films may not be the greatest Christmas movies ever, but Russell's Santa Claus has a good balance between being this cool biker grandpa and the wholesomess you expect from a Santa in a PG movie

oh my god i'm so sad you didn't get to Arthur Christmas Santa because there's technically like. 3?? This movie's genuinely one of my favorite christmas movies because of how it plays with the character of Santa, where it's not just one guy but it's a role that's passed down from father to son. The Mrs.Claus in this movie is also so cute and iconic and I love her. They're all british but I think they'd deserve a pass because it works and the film was made by Aardman (yeah, the Wallace and Gromit guys!).
the elves in this movie are also cool as shit?? like. they're kinda like military spies that use cool tech and acrobatics to deliver the toys, the opening gift delivery scene is sick as hell i really need you to see it.
her eyeshadow looks so good! it reminded me of some really tasty christmas themed gummies I had a few years ago that I haven't been able to find again ever since, they had like royal icing decorations or something because I remember there were crunchy bits

One of my personal favourites in the 2017 ducktales Santa. Not because he’s particularly unique, but because Scrooge is just constantly done with him and it’s hilarious.

If you’re going over Dora the Explorer, I have a theory that may not fully be just a theory. Dora has multiple different timelines(or universes?). There’s at least one branch of that I can bring up, the Christmas special where Swiper swipes Christmas, because if he keeps Swiping or not creates two different outcomes.
•Swiper swiping Christmas- Dora and the gang get time traveled to the future where Swiper never stops swiping Christmas and Dora still lives in the forest, she is older and taller than the 7-8 year old Dora that we follow
•Swiper fixes Christmas- After seeing the future of misery that comes with swiping Christmas, Swiper fixes his actions and Christmas is back on and everything is happy, but assuming the Dora and Friends into the city series is a direct cannon aftermath to the series and not another separate timeline from the main one, Dora’s family moves to the city and when we see an older Dora she’s away from the friends that she’s known since they were all toddlers.
This is assuming that Swiper getting on the nice list does not just rewrite the future that Dora and the gang visited, but instead creates a new timeline. Some reboots could be considered possible alternative timelines as well if we want to address them.

In ‘The Year Without A Santa Claus’ (my FAVORITE Christmas movie of all time) The reason Mother Nature got involved was because they needed it to snow in the south to get Christmas Cheer up for Santa, but since the South is Heat Miser’s territory, they had to ask Heat Miser. He said no unless Snow Miser let there be a warm day in the North Pole.
Both disagreed with each other and refused to comply which is why their mother- Mother Nature - was involved.

The clip she showed had nothing to do with Mother Nature being involved. Her complaint was what Mother Nature said. Mother Nature asked Snow Miser to let it snow and asked Heat Miser to let it get warm instead of the other way around and making sure the one that was actually against it would listen. You misunderstood entirely what Athena was bringing up.
Klaus is an amazing movie. I watched it for the first time last year and it was so good.

I can’t decide if you’d love or dislike the Santa from Rankin Bass’ adaptation of The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus. On the one hand he is a dilf with two mothers and learned his laugh from listening to the music of the frozen valley where he lives--on the other hand he’s probably the least magic santa. All his powers and feats are from his connections and networking with to a series of pagan deities. but the reason they help him and bestow these powers is because they admire him so much. it’s like his love and caring made him worthy of their blessings. Like this Santa is literally beloved by the world itself.
Can't we forget Frosty the Snowman's Santa, The Powerpuff Girls' Santa and Shimmer and Shine's Santa?
