    Many thanks. A good friend of mine just sent me your video. I've had my XP Deus for about 18 months and absolutely love it. Having a really lousy back I needed something light and this without doubt is the best I've come across.
    My thanks to my mate Gordon for sending me the link to your video. Cheers all and HH.

      Hi Relic Hunter. It's a great choice if you need a light detector that's for sure, and packed with features. It's hard to fault it to be honest. I have tried a good few machines now and the Deus still stands as the best. ATB MMMD

    I've had an xp deus since it's release in 2009 and absolute love it and it's flexibility. The firmware updates keep it current and are performed easily with simple on screen prompts. I've never had any technical problems apart from not using it for over 2 years and the coil battery needing to be replaced. My fault for not keeping it topped up per the recommendations in the manual. I replaced the battery myself (I'm an electronics engineer) although I don't recommend this as it's easily damaged unless you are VERY careful. Other than that everything works the same as the day it was new (better software now). I would say that it's as simple or as complex as you make it. Use the standard programmes and LEARN what does what BEFORE you fiddle or you will confuse yourself. The weight, battery life, design and functionality are second to non for all round brilliance in my opinion. How many 11 year old products can you say that about these days and a testimony to great design and support. Well done XP I don't plan to change this machine as long as it keeps performing as well as it has for 11 years.

    Really informative video. I have had a Deus for around 2 years now and was never really happy with its performance on pasture, compared to my V3I or Fors Relic or my Tejon. So I recently purchased an ORX because I heard it performed well on pasture and , I gained an extra coil for the Deus to boot. I have found the ORX does indeed seem to out perform the Deus on pasture. However I know this is not possible, I think it proves your point about adjusting settings. I use coin deep on the ORX almost excusively, yet it is based on Deus deep?

    • @MudMaxMetalDetecting
      @MudMaxMetalDetecting  Před 3 lety

      Hi Jason. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I honestly don't know if the ORX Coin Deep is the same as Deus Deep, I know there are different filters and background settings so it may have a little more punch? I have always thought the XP machines are best on arable sites rather than pasture. I guess all machines have their best strengths. ATB MMMD

    • @MudMaxMetalDetecting
      @MudMaxMetalDetecting  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Sniper, well that's a tough question to answer. It depends. The HF coils are great if you have ancient sites with tiny coins and artefacts, but I would personally say the x35 is the best all rounder, and the khz still goes up to the high 20s. Based on my own preferences, the 11" X35 coil if I can only have one. I think the HF coils are a little more specialised, so it depends if you have the sites to require 50khz. Hope that helps. Hi Anthony, apologies I never replied sooner. Reactivity is the main changer of depth. P2 GMP is my favourite all-rounder, usually with full tones. Programs with reactivity 1 will go a bit deeper, and reactivity three is shallower but faster for the iron heavy areas, like "Hot" ATB MMMD

    How do you find the depth and stability of the deus compared to your friends nox please?
    I have had a deus for a couple of years now and fully agree on the user friendliness of the machine. Agree that the preset programs are very good but good ‘custom’ programs have been developed eg Calabash diggers relic program and use of goldfield for wet beach detecting spring to mind. Also Ultimate where tone is used to reject iron rather than discrimination is a superb feature. There is also the non-motion side of the machine which as a former Arado 95/ 120b / 320 user appeals to me.

    • @MudMaxMetalDetecting

      I think the Nox seems a bit calmer, but then again you could argue it's not giving the same feedback, hard to say really as I only used his Nox for a few hours, I did like it though. I think they are both good detectors, and use top tech. ATB MMMD

    • @MudMaxMetalDetecting
      @MudMaxMetalDetecting  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi there. Don't be afraid to use Reactivity 2 and even 1 if the iron is not heavy. A lot of people run R3 all the time but that's only for sites with plenty of iron. Average sites it's worth trying a slow swing with low reactivity. If it's a bit chatty try putting discrimination up to 6, as it may be a necessary trade off. I also recommend over ear headphones to shut out the background (using WS4s with the adaptor) Senhieser 206 are good value and work well. Don't let dodgy numbers put you off, if the signal is not pure iron then investigate. Once you have the top soil off it will get worse or better and you will have some indication. Hope that helps. • @MudMaxMetalDetecting
      @MudMaxMetalDetecting  Před 4 lety +2

      That's a great question. The Deus is fine for a beginner. The first three programs are all you need. 1 for an easy life, 2 if you want the feedback of the iron, 3 if the iron is bad. As for the Mi6, no you don't need it. I detected for years with a Garrett Orange pointer and they are brilliant. The only thing I would say is the Deus chatters when standing still, so when your using a different pointer, you are best to remove the headphones, but many don't bother, personal preference I guess. I do love the Mi6 though, it's very clever. ATB MMMD

      Hi Kevin. I usually have a Deus cover on to keep the mud off, and if it rains heavy I use a sandwich bag, the ones with tie handles. Cheeap and easy to carry, I place the bag over the remote and tie the handles underneath, it's crude but effective. Just watch out for condensation, when you get home wipe the remote down and leave in the dry open air in a room for a few hours. ATB MMMD.

      Hi Terry. Well many people consider V3.2 to be the best and have gone back to it. Remember that the hot prog is still on the V3.2 filters, and Deep is on V2 filters (another old favourite) so I think you get the best of all worlds on the latest update. No it won't prove to be that much better than V3.2, worth remembering the later updates were needed primarily to accommodate pointers and coils. Full Deus with all the bells and whistles. I have just bought a deus to compliment my Nox 800 both are good but the Deus is way below the Nox performance on the beach. Me on the Nox on the beach meeting Deus user :- Me Nox £13-00 longtime Deus user £1.80 is a fair comparison. I had trouble finding anything on the beach with the Deus. The Nox is brill on pasture, beaches etc. The Deus may be slightly better on iron infested ground but the Nox with the small Coiltek elliptical or the 6” round is very good between iron. I just needed another good land detector to swap around. Different detectors find different targets on the same ground. I have a Garrett 400i also and the finds from that were very good compared to the Nox and it found gold too.
      I also tried the Viking 5 a very old design but that also found good stuff among iron.
      The recovery speed can be altered considerably on the Nox and Deus.
      Deus is a bit lighter. I bought a Nox in 2019 and a Deus in 2021.

The problem I often encounter the basic key toggling is hard to spot because it often has a hand blocking the key pad and is a bump here on this one and a toggle here on this one as the explainer moves through the key strokes is difficult to retrace if your not familiar as you could be. Owner since 2010 V2 software and still thought to be the deepest version (not my words)Im running the latest to get the best from this machine you must have the adjustment and balance between sensitivity and discrimination about right ,,(the lots of information bit) often referred to is the ground mineralisation that is masking good targets, Basic 1 will pick up same small silver coin with a discrimination of 10 as the hot program with zero discrimination the art of detecting with the Deus and hearing all good signals (if they are there ) some where between discrim and Sens a lot of users will go from a zero discrim setting to a high Discrim setting such as basic 1 to check if a signal is iron when the could and should add some discrimination and adjusted sensitivity

    How deep can this detector detect?

    • @MudMaxMetalDetecting
      @MudMaxMetalDetecting  Před 4 lety

      Valerie the XP Deus has very good depth but it's strongest point is the ability to pick out targets around iron. Using the machine in reactivity 3 or 4 will hit targets in junk infested areas which most machines cannot match in my opinion. ATB MMMD
