    I've just picked up a 500ml Carpro clear cut compound on ebay, for $15. My first compound, not in the top 3, but good reviews by you Brian.

      Yes! Clear Cut is a sweet compound...just needs to be a bit more aggressive to crack the top 3.

    I'm a Camaro SS guy, but I have had three Cobras in the past: red 95 Cobra, white 98 Cobra and a black 98 Cobra...this car is GORGEOUS. I like the new Mustangs but I think this one is better

    Hi Brian happy holidays I've been using 3D products like the ACA 500 and HD Speed and works pretty good for me I'm mobile detailer so I work under the sun and I don't have problems with dusting or time working with the product they're expensive yes! But works good and a little bit goes a long way.

    I freaking love this stuff, cuts like a katana sword! Between this and sonax cutmax I have had great results in most situations. M110 still holds a special place in my heart though!

    Brian, Would you test the new Optimum Clear Coat Restorer product on a car with deeply scratched paint that can't be sanded and compounded out? It sounds like a really useful product. Thanks for all the testing you do on products.

    I do a lot of spot panel correction on car lots, so this series has been great. Thanks for putting in the work to test them out. A question though, do you have a preferred way to quickly tell if a clear coat is hard or soft?

      I pretty much have each make and model memorized by now...but if you are not sure...start the correction with a foam polish pad. On soft clear...this is enough eggression to remove most love marks and swirls. It takes microfiber and wool to do the same on hard stubborn clear.

    Right in front of that area you taped off at the four-minute mark. it looks like it's almost a 90 degree angle. where the hood scoop is. how do you get in there and polish the inside corner?

      I do the corners of a 90 degree corner by hand. I bend a 2 inch microfiber pad around my fingers to match the contour.

      AAT502 will finish better on soft clears. Love them both but if I had to choose one it would be AAT502.

    Brian, is this compound a SMAT technology? Really liking the no dust characteristic that it was exhibiting during your testing here. That is one thing why M105 (that does really work well) is on the last choice that i grab list.

      It contains Alpha Ceramic Abrasives...They give a nice even consistent cut.

      Hi Kevin it is SMAT. I do find you have to be careful priming the pads with all 3D compounds/polishes if you are doing the KBM. The lubrication in this will dumb down the cut if you prime too heavily. it spreads so well! Less is definitely more

      3D has stated for years that there is no need to prime pads with their formulations.
      I start with four drops on a 5.5" pad. Two for the reload.
      Great compound.

    I have these white stains on the rubber hoses under the hood that I can't get clean do you know what I can use to help clean that up

    Definitely will try. I also tried the Meg m110 pro compound and surprisingly, it dusts quite a bit.

    Nice product 3D makes some of the best stuff out there!! Hey I have a random question and wanted to ask u for advice. I'm about to tackle paint correction on my white car, paint hardness is medium, I have meguiars ultimate compound and Meguiars burgandy foam cutting pad "dfc5" and after that I was gonna follow up with 3D AAT 502 finishing polish with a meguiars yellow polishing pad dfp5....do you think that is a good combination?

      I did exactly that but with Meguiar's ultimate polish after ultimate compound. Great results on white cars! Used their ultimate wax also.

    why do you do such a large area with just 8 little dots of applied material on the pad? isn't that too little compound to rub so long and for such a big square? shouldn't you 'wet the pad more first? (never used this set up before)

      The lubricants in 3D's line of polishes doesn't need priming.
      Most modern, high end compounds and polishes don't require priming.

      I gotta try this I've heard him mention there are compounds that can handle 800grit but havent been able to find them. Not sure I would use 800 grit on a car but I still want to try it!

      I just found a video of it, was in Russian though, looks like it really cuts through 800 grit! Looks like a dust bowl but still freaking awesome so I ordered a bottle to try out!

      Brewinz Right, but this series isn’t about one steps, its about cutting compounds and how they rank in true cutting performance. Cutmax doesnt finish down to a glossy finish either.

    Really interested in these ACA products. But they are far outside the normal cost even for professional compounds.
    I did get 3d one that has the same abrasives. That's the only "detailing" 3d products with the alumina abrasives. The ACA ones fall under "professional" on their site. I assume meaning more for body shops while ONE, CUT, and POLISH are under "detailing"
    That stuff looks great!!! But man it's expensive

      With normal compounds I'm using anywhere from four to six ounces of product.
      With 3D ACA500, and ONE it's about half that.

    Interestingly Car Pro’s Clear Cut was noticeably more effective removing scratches than this 3D compound. And that compound isn’t in the top 3.

      He always states that a given may work better depending on how people use them.
      For me the Jescar was on par or equal to the ACA500. But I have had cars where Jescar Medium cut better than this one.
