Well good for you on staying busy with work coming in, this can be stressful but having no work can really be depressing.
    Keep moving forward.

Derb Ik ur a busy guy and I totally respect that but it be nice if u put out a video a week ur vids encouraged me to get into my local welding school and pick up the trade so it’s nice to have a new derb video instead of rewatching the old ones

I was wondering just the other day what you were up too. Good to see you keeping busy and hear that business is good.
I have basically shutdown my channel after YT shadow banned it so l only comment of channels l follow.
I have started a commercial channel for my welding business but it appears to be under the same cloud so to speak on video views.
Will great to see those welders come to something good, that was hopefully a good deal for you!

    Hey Derb!
As an alternative to plasma, or arc gouging in this type of situation, you may want to consider investing in a Oxy Lance kit. It would blow that weld buildup out of there in just a couple of seconds. You would be left with some minor cleanup. Just have to be careful with your aim.

Good job, would 7018 have been better than dual shield???? Especially with the hydrogen cracking on the tree tool?

Crazy how quiet arc gouging sounds on camera

....but in realtime.... it's like lightning going of right next to you...!!
And the smoke is pretty thick too.
But it's fast going, for removing metal.

Heavy Equipment pays good money. These Equipment operators need to have these machines back to work ASAP, and they will pay good money for this too. Dont work for a company or contractor that outsources these types of work, more than likely they will underpay you. I know because i did this type of work for a year. Out in the sun, hammering out bucket pins, installing thumbs and root rakes, hammering back the pins. I did the math and i was earning only 150 a day, while the contractor got 2.5k. Never again.

I have wondered how much air is needed to carbon arc gouge. Assuming the wheelbarrow compressor is gas powered? Thanks for the video.

Derb what’s the advantage to having an engine drive welder vs having a generator and extension cord out to an inverter?

Derb, with that Miller 600 airpack you could’ve easily ran 3/8 carbons I run them all the time Off my Lincoln Commander 500 Would’ve cut your gougeing time Even more You should keep a box on the truck just in case and they also make a 5/16 which is in between size which is nice sometimes and they Also have flat rods which you can use to cut off all the slagging snot still left over so you don’t have to use the grinder they’re handy to have too. And I only have one little criticism but I know it’s not your fault because the customer supplied the plate the AR 500 that’s a wear resistant plate not really
Meant for Strength or structural use Regular old mild steel would’ve been sufficient for a fish plate and if you were cutting out the section you’d want to go with a T1 grade for strength but I’ve done those exact same jobs over the years and just use regular old mild steel Jobs like that are usually caused by operator abuse so I’m sure he really didn’t want to spring for the cost of T1 or even mild stieel special today’s prices but it was a good job and keep up the good work look forward to see more videos

In the video he explains that the welder (air pack) is not his and the compressor does not work. Hes only using it because he doesnt want to gouge with his bobcat and would rather gouge (beat on) his buddys machine

I won’t ever touch a gouging rod with my bobcat. I’d rather spend the bottle of gas scarfing or invest in a plasma. You have bigger balls than me haha.
