how about some rust converter before you weld it up, that will help the box.
Biggest problem I've seen is that you didn't treat the old metal underneath to prevent further rusting inside or at least slow it down. You really did not accomplish much except to slow down the inevitable by missing that one step.
Those Rusty Repair jobs are up there on my list of dislikes. You did a good job for what you had to work with!
Just cover the rust with a new piece ? Why didn't you do sandblasting? I wouldn't pay for such crap
Most people arent willing to pay what it takes to actually do it right. Sometimes you take their money anyway...

I can't believe you did all that with a grinder and a bench vice. Tremendous work hope you got paid handsomely for it.
Cut two slots in a 2” piece of heavy wall pipe, secure the pipe, start bending, keep bending. Until you like it. (Learned from Bondo Billy)
I really hate doing repairs with a lot of rust, but someone has to do it. Nice job!

New welder here question why not use stick rod like 7018? Could You Even Stick Weld that?

Nothing Solid left to Weld New metal to on that Bed! Plasma cutter Would be ideal for Cutting the rusty metal out . I'd Use Better quality Wire than harbor freight though.
