Wannabe. How much do you really work in this industry? Don’t give up your day gig!!!!
🤣🤣🤣 you're a funny guy
It is a side hustle….as he states. If no one ever paid him to weld….who gives a rat’s ass?
It's always the guy with no content that has something to say.
Must be the fumes they inhale cuz every welder I met is the best ever and makes more money than you and what your doing is the wrong way to do it. Haha I used to be that guy. Nice rig 👍
Really, tho, what good are you doing here? You just exist to try to swipe at people that never did anything to you? This shows your character.
I’ve been into welding 13 yrs. I’ve been to the pipeline, shipyards, mines, rock quarries, and sand plants. And there is absolutely no one bed that does it all. The perfect bed doesn’t exist. All that should matter is if it’s functional and you’re able to finish the job. Anybody coming to this video trolling or trying to ask dickhead questions, let’s see your setup. Anyway, congrats bro, I know that setup works. 🤘🏾
I appreciate it
One of my favorite welding youtubers, he shows you how to get inspired and how to get stuff done
MY hope is to inspire anyone i can
I'm sorry to hear about your loss that's awesome that the family gave it to you maybe name the truck after him some way
I am a welder. I have a welding rig. I have worked as a welder for 30 years. Your welding rig is super sweet !!!! Simple and Organized. Fu*ck the haters on here. Keep up that side Hustle, It just might turn into a full time job. Please keep posting !!!
thanks I appreciate it
Don’t listen to all the haters! Keep up the good work! Your setup and all your preparedness is way better than a lot of other full-time Welders I know.
He's the definition of "better to have em and not need em, than the need em and not have em" 🤝🏽💯
Sorry about your friend, I know he’s looking down on that sweet rig with a smile on his face. I’ve used pearl abrasives for years, and they are awesome. I’m exited to see you using that rig in the future. Well done!
i appreciate that. yea local weld supply carries them so we will see how they work!
bro for just being a side hustle, your rig is dope af. you could tell you had alot of thought in it 👌👌
Too much thought sometimes lol im happy with how it came out
Truck looks great bud!
Thanks 👍
Looking good!! I hope you get so busy with your side work that it becomes your Full time gig! Where I live you can't leave your leads out like that because they wouldn't be there the next morning.
Dang brother 🔥! So cool to see it done! I didn’t realize you were on CZcams!
Really appreciate that story at the end too bro! 👌👊
My gosh, for just a weekend rig that’s insane. You could run your own business so easy off of that full-time.
good job on the truck man, its great, you will do well now, cheers Paul.
Great looking truck and set up ,I hope you get lots of good use out it
Me too!
Side Hustle? Looks like you are ready for Monday-Friday with that set up, well done sir.
Thank you for this video , I am 35 and have done electrical most my life some plumbing but just mostly construction commercial but mostly residential, I started to transition into welding so seeing this helps me a lot for ideas on my welding truck
Nice setup
Remove that back seat n build out proper tub n shelves...organized storage. Cool truck.
Wow what a rig! Thanks for sharing the video
I have everything I need to do basic welding/fab at home for myself (don't have a rig), this video helps give me a good idea as to what I might need to go mobile, really cool video
Glad it was helpful!
1st thing I really like the truck it is good looking 2nd thing I would remove the back seat completely and make it more utility for carrying tools and welding rods
All in all I like it! You did a really good job putting it together
hayden definitely would be proud. the rig looks so sick i love the purple
great looking setup. You have a good truck a good machine and a good compressor. A simple setup, but you can do alot of work with what you have. The sky is the limit now. I have carried an axe on my rig for years I don't anymore though. But I never considered having it to cut my cables off. But you normally always have a grinder strung out I'm sure you can zip your cables off with a grinder that is right beside you, quicker than you can run to your truck and grab a tool to cut them off. I used to run them westeran quick connects on everything, But they became more hassle than they were good, simplicity is bliss. you can stand to make a ton of money with that setup of you get yourself into the right job. Very nice man. You are making Hayden proud, And he is proud what you are doing with that bed.
I like your minimalist approach to it all, proving you don’t need a ton to GSD.
Excellent call on the air compressor. Nice job rebuilding it as well. Even if you don’t use your air tools very often, you definitely need an air compressor to blow off all the rust and shavings and grinding and dust and dirt and everything else. So nice job! 👍
Great setup. I'm in the process of building one of my own. It's a lot of work and I appreciate the details of your rig. Gave me some great ideas. Thanks for the video.
Glad it helped!
Nice truck. I removed my back seat for more room. Gives you another foot in the back seat. It’s just 2 or 4 bolts and it comes right off. I stuffed my backseat when I took mine out. Built a bottom that goes to the very back.
Way to go Matt looks good brother. Keep it up!!
Heyy Josh what's up???? Where you workin brother
Pretty snazzy for a side hustle rig. I love it 👍
this is my goal man, kudos to you nice rig
What you have is pretty impressive ,you have what it takes thats for sure, i had to call a Mobile welder guy once my son and took our boat to the lake coming back the axle broke under the boat tráiler it wasnt broke all the way but i knew it wouldnt last for 40 miles of driving anyway called a Mobile welder in the área he was the there in 10mins repaired my boat tráiler axle and only charged 50 bucks he was done in maybe 15 20 mins , he was a pretty cool guy really ,his repair hasnt failed yet and ive took our boat out several times, i have his number he gave me in casé i have any problems or need him for other stuff , bit he had a rig fairly similar to yours pretty cool , great video take care and god bless
New sub here. Great job on your rig, I too prefer old gear that has been restored than new stuff, you did an excellent job one the restorations. I like your attention to detail. I have a small farm service trailer I use, well, on my farm. Picked up a few tips from your setup. You're spot-on regarding the grinders. I have a grinder for each task. I quit the ole one grinder setup where you're constantly wasting time swapping consumables.
I'm old and appreciate that every other word in your videos is not the F word. I know, I know, you younger folks laugh at that but some people don't like it as part of normal conversation...I'm one of those people. There are tons of welding channels, if I can't watch them in my house without my daughter asking me "what the heck are you listening to?", I just find another channel that is family friendly. Thank you for that. I know that sounds corny but hey, when you get my age you will appreciate your attitude change that comes with it, you just don't tolerate stuff that annoys you...and you become proud of that fact. lol
Keep up the great content!
Really enjoy watching your videos, especially this one. Thanks!
Glad you like them!
Very cool! thanks for sharing
I would maybe add some work lights on the back of ur tool boxes just incase u get caught out at dark heck maybe some strobes incase ur on the side of the road
You doing what you want to do,how you want to do it. Phucc them haters! Do your boy proud!
Nice setup 👍🏼
Cool rig man, looks nice!!
Now that’s a beautiful set up
Love the classic Craftsman tool box!
looks great man ive been watching your videos for a while now and like the way it came out! Starting my own welding side business as well and hope to get a rig soon. Great Job brother
awesome do it up!
Nice truck. Very well laid out.
good for you, man! I run an 11ft enclosed 4x4 Ford, just my side gig too!
for the jerry silicone glove over the male parts of the quick disconnects, if you get two more female quick disconnects and just plumb a cap in them, then you have two quick disconnect caps for the males when they aren't in use, and with a little chain or paracord they will stay on the truck even if you forget to put them on
I like that only thing is the quick connects arre about 100 bucks so I'd hate to waste them on that
Spray foam is useful for finding the leaks in car roofs, just dig in a little wherever i leaks out and fill it with proseal.
But other than that I will use clear RTV and some windex on my fingers to smooth it over any and all seams.
I’m a Tri-flow guy. Expensive but hella-good. Soak the fasteners and the next day, bang, it’s off!
Great job and remember some are dreamers and some just dream and do it ...thumbs up
Looks great!
Love the jdtco sticker on your helmet i love thier Milwaukee tool boots
I like this truck, is great, best regards from Venezuela
That is a great side hustle rig.. Im jelly! Good luck!
Thanks 👍
Really nice pal....great job! Love the channel
Thanks 👍
Looks great bro congratulations getting your truck finished
Thanks 👍
Awsome rig bro 🙏🏽👍🏼
Super rad set up DUDE!!! 🤣 looks way more like a full time set up and not a side hustle. You are ready for almost all the things!!!
I couldn't believe it when you pulled out that spot light years ago my father had one identical to it. He always kept the handle in a pistol grip instead of the straight setting. Loved the truck tour rig is looking great. Looking for some extra storage look for some boxes to mount under the bed infront of the axle
thats pretty awesome. the light is sweet
Boxes in front of the axle will save your cab corners as well
You are dam right about the grinders bro !!!
Love those 3rd gen wheels on there
Great stuff bro.
Good work man
Being that you live in a winter state. You might want to look at going with a trailer. You can set up a small bench in it and all. Can even run a heater for the winter so you can get out of the cold on jobs
Thanks bruh for infor , I’m starting my business soon as possible wishes you the best
slick truck man!
Great truck you have everything and more to tackle almost any job out there
thats the goal!
Hello from Australia nice job mate and don`t bother with the wanker that calls you a wannabe he has not got the balls to have a go. Best of luck mate.
Nice work! I would suggest taking the back seat right out if you don’t need it build a level platform across the back that will make life easier running the smaller truck Get an inverter for the truck 2000 watts. They’re handy for multiple reasons and you don’t have to always run the welder for power. You will always be working on organization when running a truck know I’m always brainstorming how to make my service truck more efficient and better with my storage.
The ending is Wholesome
Kool rig 👍👍
Awesome. Thanks.
I'm a bit surprised that you haven't welded pull out trays or shelving inside. Good videos 🤙🏼
Nice set up. Up grades I would make. 120 volt cord reel, work lights, 9 inch grinder. You have a nice welding machine capable of burning carbon arc rods I would have to get Ingersoll rand t30 compressor and a K 4000 arc air rig.
Much respect and best of wishes to you.
The only thing I'll add is that your side hustle is your business. You're a mobile welder be it part time or full time.
So keep track of any expenses including wear and tear on all your equipment and consumables. I would itemize all of it on the invoice. Customers become more agreeable when they see the expenses listed out.
God bless
I appreciate it
Grab you a HF Titanium plasma cutter or for your space limitations... grab a arcair plasma torch. (Sometimes you run out of torch gas) plan B ;)
Man I wis I had that truck, its as old as me and runs as good as new. I'm currently doing mobile welding side hsutle on my parents mini van my welder, generator oxy acetylene tools etc . But I'm also a welding student in college been doing it for 3 years had the confidence to do mobile welding since I can't find a job anywhere and paying for college is a burden to my parents and feel like I need to make money yet my insructers dont want me doing it but since I'm broke and dont qualify for financial aid or scholarships and loans is all they tell me to get which I refuse to be in debt for life. I'm willing to take the risk to do this type of work and not let no one stop me. from going to the gym and workout and welding stuff to pay for my education. I hope to get to your point one day thanks and congrats.
i am a electrician and worked the road once. i worked with a ton of welders and bro if you are willing to be a road whore for a few years. you can rake in the dough or at least you could back then. its hard but keep working for your dreams man. im sure your folks will be just happy that you succeeded
Nice Job!
Thanks!
You should do a series on positional stick welding. A little 6g pipe action or 3g etc.
I can Do something like that in the future
Nicely done, Matt. I’m toying with the idea of making my Ram 1500 a rig, but also considering converting one of my trailers to a mobile platform. I have a Primeweld Cut 60 plasma, Miller Bobcat, & a couple multi-process welders. Of course the squares clamps, pipe stands, & numerous grinders. My issue is my truck looks brand new, and has low milage for a 2015. Thus my quandry about rigging the trailer vs. the truck. I only want to do a side hustle as well, but want to be well equipped. I like my Chief needle scaler, and have a 30 gal upright compressor that I would use for the plasma and air tools. I think you’ve done a good job on that 2001 Ram 2500.
I would make a trailer, don't kill your nice 1500. It can tow the weight so a trailer would probably be best!
Too all the bestfriends that weve lost, cheers man
Very impressive setup! I'm not sponsored or anything, but I love Benchmark Abrasives for all my grinder stuff. They're very affordable in bulk and last 10 times longer than harbor freight or the big box store stuff. I believe meltin metal Anthony uses them too.
i like their stuff
I save those little desiccant packs and put them in my rod tubes, anti spatter will save your ass on hydraulic rams-one bit of spatter will ruin your day, also if you weld on anything with air brakes keep a handful of push-connect unions in 1/4 3/8 and1/2. cool rig and good luck!
Cool af bro . I thinking about taking off . Been welding for 14 years
We use that triflow on bearings for oval dirt kart racing and it works wonders but if u want some really good 3/32 7018 try the Lincoln stuff that comes in a round can its amazing
got those tri flow cans on clearance at my local ACE hardware for $1 each, i bought all 8 of them
Every welding rig should start off with a 5.9 Cummins powered Dodge truck, well done sir.
Here's some suggestions to fuel the algorithm. First though, you did a great job. I would put a shelf in the grinder box, your losing a lot of storage. You'll need more and more storage as you go and acquire more tools. You could further expand with under bed boxes.
i agree. already dont have enough room for everything i want to put in there
If your only using the truck for welding, I’d pull the rear seat throw some sound deadening and attach a thin sheet of uhmw on the back rest ( just so the cab stays quiet n still looks decent on the inside ) it’ll free up at least 1/2 foot of space in the back there, if not a bit more… Rig looks great👌🏼🤘🏼
Sweet looking flatbed
Nice rig
Nice rig bro. It’s definitely a clean setup! With you being a fitter I was pretty surprised that you didn’t have any 1/8” grinding wheels.
I do somewhere lol
Great start bro. I would get some small angle from supplier and make some shelves in those boxes. Also i run a compressor on my rig, and hated the amount of space it took up. I yanked the tank off, and put it under the bed. 17 gallon. Love your setup though. You can air arc with that compressor. Just use 1/4 or 3/16 rods. Go easy. Your not gonna go buck wild, but lil by lil you can do it
I think I'm gonna give it a shot
This is a bad ass truck , yeah the beds small and I know he wishes he could have done some things different it it’s a cool truck and looks great and for some side work it’s awesome and you could run a business out of it so nice truck
Pearl abrasives are really good I use they're redline brand of grinding disk they last long and remove material quickly
thats what i like to hear
Wet passengers side carpet probably means your condensation drain is plugged or the firewall gasket has broke down. Cleared mine with a zip tie and sealed the firewall with RTV.
Nice Pete in the intro
Nice rig man! Thanks for sharing the back story about your friend. I'm sure he would be proud. Looks like you might need a set of extended control arms up front to re-center the axle in the wheel well with the lift?
Well i think the back is sagging with all the weight, pushing the front up. I will most likely do air bags in the back to help level things back out
What's the bottle sitting on? Hopefully some thick insulation, or sooner or later there's going to be a cylindrical projectile on a collision course with the unknown! On another topic, Scottsay has just been officially and unanimously awarded the title of, "Major DB Runt of the Day"!
Wicked truck all you need and probly more 😊
👍🏴😁✌️
Make a exhaust deflector on your compressor muffler to save your paint on your welding machine. Looks great
good idea, thought about that after i ran the compressor for about 10 minutes
What about a wire feeder. Might have to run flux core.
Will have a mig welder on there soon
Nice rig dude .
Thanks 👍
