He said Stripper! lol. Reminded me of a Go Go bar off exit 7a on the Jersey turn pike right outside Ft Dix. Probably not there anymore.
Since I have hauled equipment for years, i would have set the corners at 45 degrees. Thank you for the video!
I did think about that, will most likely do that for the next one do
Good work man🤙 I work for a waste company down in Florida and gotta weld on these all the time. It ain’t glamorous but it pays good 🤷♂️
Right on
Love your stuff brotha, respect.
Those d-rings will be there when he scraps that thing. Great looking/strong welds brother. You were right about the Primeweld too. I was just using it for aluminum but I'm glad you talked me into using it. I've been blasting .045 flux core like butter. It is a beast! Believe it or not, I'm allergic to miller lite. It breaks me out in big welts.😮
told ya, them prime welds can eat
I found when using a stripper disk, it works better and lasts longer using a variable speed angle grinder. They last longer running at a slower RPM.
I do want to get a variable speed grinder
Oh man, halfway through, and I gotta go back to work. We'll catch up to ya later. Good video so far.
When you are welding with 7018 and your coming off your weld flick the rod. It will get rid of that hat ball on the end. Then pinch the tip of the rod with two fingers and pull the flux off the tip. It will restart better.
Grab the pulling it off not bad?
I think the scotch brite cleaning wheels for the grinder work better than anything else ive tried for millscale
I’ll have to get one of those Olights.
yea check out the arkfield one that's what I use
Love your videos. Informative as well as entertaining!
Nice Job!
I love the twist stingers. Much easier to handle for me.
my favorite
I need to start YouTubing cause I have 28 40yrd roll offs and five dump trucks at my shop to rebuild and repair……… keep rocking buddy there is a lot of this kind of work out there!!
do it up, cant hurt to try
So many internet experts in these comments😂 great vid and job man.
I always have a file handy. I will do a quick drag on it with my 7018 rod and restrikes are really easy.
That stinger was most popularly made by Bernard called a Shortstub. I had one and personally did not like it at all. I just like to squeeze and drop the stub. I love my V Stinger, but I mostly use a compact Lenco AF-2, 200A. It's all personal preference.
File is a good idea, I sometimes tap in on the garage floor also
When I tap, it sometimes chips off the flux. That's why the file works well. Anyway, stay safe!@@mcfwelding
I restart 7018 on RR crossing all the time ( Boss calls, Chuck why did it take you 3 hours to weld to crossing pads together ) 🤔 damn 7018 rod SOB lol 🤣 love your videos man really hoping I can get a little weld shop setup this year with all prime weld looking into the 285 and for tig the new 325 .
you wont be disappointed with primeweld
I got an o-light before i came across your channel, but i agree they are awesome lights
That they are!
I have an old twist Jackson's stinger an I think it's the best. If the rod get's stuck I just turn and pull out in less than a second. I twist it to any angle.
Stinger V II is the best electrode holder ive used. good for 300amps.
tats one I've never used yet
You seem like a very hard worker. I have one of those Arkfeld lights that laser is incredible.
Be looking forward to the next one
Thanks scott
What kind of certification do you need to do this kind of work
I talked my buddy into getting that same welder, hey prime weld send me some swag😅should have named the video dumpster diving 😅. Thank you for the video
Thanks for watching
I think those stingers are cool but I like the battery clamp style
I love the stripper disc's. Won't use anything else for mill scale.
Hobart 7018 if I had a guess. Dude that’s a nice welder. I have two everlast welders and a Hobart mig. What happened to your everlast mig? Like the side hustle videos. And….. no painting it hot???
I think it was the murex i had or older lincoln. Nah this didnt get deamed worthy enough to even paint lol
Man I flinched when he started chipping with the camera close up😂
Haha sorry
Not sure where that mask fits onto your face but facial hair should be freshly shaven to create a sufficient seal against the face? Maybe throw a fan on you while welding? Love the vids can't wait for the aluminum videos 👍
He was mig welding so a fan wouldn't be a good idea. Those masks work great though, even with some facial hair. 👍🏻
The respirator helps even with a beard but I agree a clean shaven face is better.
Any stinger to get the job done is the best stinger for the job.
Keep the vid's coming 🤪
will do!
Just wondering if you have any combustible products under your bench , that pail ?
Great video great work, nice you are looking out for customers interest by calling them
bench has a piece of ply wood as a shelf lol... there is a lot of flammable things in my garage so I always keep an eye out after I weld
It's really funny to see you using stick welder inside the shop and flux core outside!! Stick and flux core weld inside for me it's a nono except if my mig welder cant push the amp I need to get enough penetration. Do you think that you regret not buying the 285?
I mig welded outside? Do you know the difference between mig and flux core? Guess not
@@mcfwelding I should have type, why you dont mig weld your part inside and if you have the mig285 from primeweld instead of the 180 you would mig weld the part instead of stick weld inside the shop?
The mig 180 was perfect for this job. I like to stick weld more then any other process so ill stick weld alot of things if i can
I know a guy that owns his own dumpster/hauling company and he's asked if I could do something similar to one or more of his dumpsters. Wondering what you charged. I'd be doing the plates in the dumpsters using .035 flux core.
depending on material and what you charge an hour will reflect your price. I charged hourly for this and took me about 5-6 hours total
@mcfwelding thanks for the reply. That's about what I was thinking. I always charge for materials, including consumables, depending on the job, then labor per hour with a 1 hr minimum. I appreciate you telling us that you order your steel parts on eBay also. Never done that since I have a good steel supply near me.
Did you ever try 35 duel shield fluxcore in you mig welder?
Not yet, would like to
Any particular reason you chose to mig weld it to the dumpster and not stick? Just wondering because I'm new to fabrication. I bought a titanium 170 to learn on did flux for awhile now mig. I would like to get a stick welder to learn on though
was way faster
It might be 14gauge if it's less than 1/8 in same thickness as the 3/32 rod
I think it as less then 1/8" after i looked at it for sure
I haven't reached the end of the video yet so you might answer my question in it but did the mig gun hold up?
She held in there
I do not envy you. I've done dumpster s one (1) time. Ill have to be starving before I do that again
Just here learning. What kind of welding is this considered? MIG?
yes
Whats your thoughts on a miller matic 211 for Mobile i only run flux core with it
i had one i liked it but plenty of less expensive options for the same result
What head gear are you using on your lid there? It doesn't look like the stock fiber metal one
retro-fitted jackson head gear on it
@@mcfwelding do you have a link to the one your have used?
Google jackson head gear, most weld supply sites will have it
@@mcfwelding awesome thank you sir. Keep up the great content
What brand paint stripper disc is it?
benchmark I believe
Ever thought about teaching? I’m in
No, I wouldn't be a great teacher lol
i got a Q?
how much do you charge for that kind of job
charged by the hour, 5 hours total plus material.
Una fukin dilla!
fuckk yea
To do these side jobs would i need a license?? 🤔
Im not sure
i git my own rig welder i do the same
am just got all my welding certs
and that's it i never have problems
greetings from Phoenix Az
@@zenteno5p how hard is it to get work bro? I'm from Cali so I assume our job market is similar
@@lilbfrom614 it depends how good you are at talking to people. If your not afraid to walk up to every landscaper, quarry, or construction crew you pass you’ll find tons of work. If you make excuses as to why you shouldn’t approach potential customers then you’ll be kinda struggling.
@@scrapmanindustries where are you from?
That’s 14 gauge
😂
:O
*Promo SM* 🤪
You should get a fan to keep the fumes out of your face. Not good breathing those fumes
I was wearing a respirator
@mcfwelding yea I saw it later on in the video.
Complete Waste of Time & Materials Trying to Weld to That Junk Floor!!
Good thing YOU didnt do it then!
Why don’t you buy a real migraine welder ?
Because I don't want a migraine? Who would that
Dirty stinky no thanks
paid well. so why not
Get a MIG welder
i used a mig welder.... you must have went blind too from welding
Stop breathing that shit in, I’ve got copd from welding
I put a respirator on in the dumpster. did you watch the video?
Good job ❤ the videos
I can not stand twist stingers. For doing XRay welds those are horrible If you stick the rod you have to twist to let go. Stand a chance of arc strike , and welding inspector do not like that !!!!!!! maybe structural steel would be great. Thank you for all your videos.
thanks for watching
