- History's best kept secret is either that Jesus Christ married Mary Magdalene or that it's actually possible to make a decent video game movie tie-in. We got in touch with the Vatican and they vehemently denied that there's any truth in the latter case. But don't just take their word for it! Have a look at The Da Vinci Code on PS2.
Thank you to David Lever and Sean Wallace for sending us this game!

You guys are so underrated, "she's made of Scrabble" 😂😂
Congratulations on 100 episodes of WGE, guys. Here's to the continued success of the show!
💯❤️🔥🔥🔥
Hopefully it doesn't kill them before they make it to the next 100
Whenever you guys have access to level select codes, you should end the episodes in the final level. I would have loved to know how the hell THE Da Vinci code videogame ended, like, what could they have possible made as an exciting videogame conclusion?
I like to think they did it Matrix: Path of Neo style, where they decided the film's philosophical conclusion to Neo's arc was too boring for a videogame so they made you fight a giant Hugo Weaving made out of Hugo Weavings.
This is an amazing idea, I've always wanted to see the last level of the games featured by Ben and Peter, as it's often made when developers are the most pressed for time or don't know how to tie a narrative together (I appreciate using "narrative" for WGE-Games is a attach oftentimes) but exploring chest codes along with reviews and science facts I feels is a missed segment!
Edit: I almost forgot: Blessings of the algorithm be upon you
Matrix path of Neo is such good game
Peter: "I'm tired of this Monkey Island s#*t!"
I lost it 😂
Did you post a quote? This is your first warning, two more and you're finished.
I liked playing this game when I was little. I spent hours and sometimes days at the riddles. And that game gave me the first bug I ever saw in my life. It was always freezing on the same loading screen. When I was 9 years old, it destroyed my whole world view. Until then, I always thought when you buy games that they are fixed and ready programmed and tested. I never figured out what caused that bug. :/
Im playing right now the davinci code on ps2 and that bug i fixed by creating two saving and then restart the whole game and i wrote down every riddle solution
My favourite part of the da vinci code was when Jon Motson shot the protagonists in an air port
I like the idea of a substitute teacher pronouncing "Sophie" wrong but getting "Neveu" spot on
it's quite probably spelled "Nevaeh," which is "heaven" backwards. I knew a friend who named her daughter that.
...of course, maybe it's written in a subtitle; I haven't actually gotten into the video yet.
edit: nvm i'm probably wrong
Sophie: Call this numbeur
*Langdon makes the call*
Phone: Ello this is Rules Boss
Oh my god that's FemShep Jennifer Hale doing a french accent!
Nick Cage is the REAL National Treasure.
Peters "Moaning Myrtle" comment made me laugh out loud.
It's pretty funny that if you have read the books you know the solution to every ingame puzzle I guess?
That would be both hilarious and cool.
Nope. I read the book and saw the movie and maybe only got one puzzle done in a second and it dealt with putting the tracker in the soap because it was the main thing I remembered. The other puzzles make no sense.
Peter: Okay I need a hint
Game: An anagram is....
Peter: Yeah I know that
Game: I don't know where to begin
Now that is game design
This game could have just been a book with word puzzles. All we'd lose are QTE combat sequences.
Very true
I was also under the misconception that Nicholas Cage was in this movie. I have never been so disappointed to see Tom Hanks.
That movie would have been significantly improved with the addition of Nic Cage, agreed.
"My husband critized the game, but I totally disagreed with him." Your husband has sense.
My take-away from that review was that she prefers the crossword to video games.
This doesn't make the game better, but just so you know in the book the body is completely naked. The towel was added because they couldn't show a Wilson on screen
I just tried to imagine playing these substitution cypher puzzles with a wiimote and I think I gave myself high blood pressure.
Owing to the bank Holiday, I completely forgot it was a worst games day. Lovely surprise!
The game did tell you to combine the tracker with something heavier so you can throw it. It helps to listen a lil when playing a puzzle game lads
Funny enough it was THE ONLY puzzle I figured out in a second cause I read the book and saw the movie. Which is funny cause apparently the game is more like the book, but the puzzles still made no sense.
Wish I could like this more than once.
Love the show and the fellas, but it annoys the crap out of me when a game explicitly tells them what to do, they completely ignore it, and then complain they don't know what to do.
Weirdly it sounds like somebody doing a voice somewhere between Tom Hanks and Nic Cage
That VA is trying to sound like Tom Hanks though.
“I’m sure the book is very good...”
*narrator* “it isn’t”
The book is.....ok. I didn’t see what the big deal was. I even enjoyed the movie, but this game was total HORSESHIT!!!
Only when the Mona Lisa appeared did I realise that the Da Vinci code has something to do with Leonardo da Vinci. I am 22 years old.
Your trippin yo
@@zimtheinvaderofficial that I am sir. That I am.
This was an absolutely fantastic episode! Love the work!
Why is it I played all this games, and actually remember enjoying them when I was young. Like this one, I remember this game having the intrigue of a Tom Clancy book, and I always felt smart every time I worked out a puzzle
Tom Cruise is a famously short man. Love that peter included him in the list of celebrities, because "he's taller". Great as always lads, keep up the great content.
This game looks like a real high octane intense rollercoaster of a ride to play 😂
I managed to get through 30 minutes of this movie and then I fell asleep, woke up at the credits. Perfect timing. 😂😂😂
I have a picture on my phone to remind me that I live in the universe where this game is a thing.
Even with it, I still don't believe it.
I finished this back in 2006 on the ps2 its actually a good game
What do you get when you beat it
@@v3ck1n depression
I loved this game!! I actually learnt so much about art history and stuff and I loved to explore the different locations!
“*gasp* she was inside Jesus all along” best part!
"went for the source material.." no harris tweed jacket and no mickey mouse watch on Robert Langdon so yeah definitely for budget reasons lol p.s yes I have read the books as well as the prequel and sequels
Langdon's voice sounds like Nick Cage, to be fair.
The preview made it look like tomb raider angel of darkness with bootleg mulder and scully done okayiss.
Rerez: are you challenging me?
It's just bad!
There's a LOT of David Duchovny in the main character model, it's almost like they were trying to invoke the X-files without paying any royalties for either the actor or the franchise!
true
I actually enjoyed this when it came out. Look it wasn't perfect but it tried some interesting things.
Never upset when developer's try something new
4:18, national treasure was much better than the da vinci code mainly cuz it wasn't boring as shit, started nic cage and the protagonists actually find what they were looking for instead of fucking off at the last moment.
DA VINKY??
The sound of main guy is james reynor from starcraft
I swear the police guy sounds like a voice actor from one of the Discworld games - his voice is so familiar.
The game audio seemed very quite compared to the commentary but that could have just been me. great video dudes!
I'm sure they lowered the volume of the game on purpose so their commentary is clearer.
I remember reading the book a few years back. The ending absolutely pissed me off. Like all that build up for a "let's leave the macguffin alone because fuck you readers". Dunno why it became so popular anyway.
Great episode!
This was one of my favorite games growing up. Totally heartbreaking to see it here haha.
To be fair to this game, it just as good as the film and book!! Great video!!
You should rank every Lego game
BubblesDelFuego is the current speedrun record holder with a time of 1h33m05s
These videos are very comforting
Nathan Ackerman Fine Art Studio
I love bens sarcasm throughout the video
He's so confidently wrong lol, I know they both said they haven't read the book or watched the film, but it is amusing to hear him say "he stripped himself naked? yeah DID HE THO??" 😂
Well thank goodness for broken sword then!
“Thank God you came, we don’t have much time” 😏
Holy fuck that guy does look like the amalgamation of every Hollywood leading man.
How in the world did the thrown bar of soap stick to a car????
To be fair, neopagan paraphernalia tends to get mistaken, or forcefully declared, as satanic.
10:50 'la toilette' means washing. The French call the bathroom 'sal de bain' and the toilet 'le w.c.'
So the occasional french here fails a bit.
"la toilette" is also used to mean the toilet itself. Though "aller aux toilettes" is more of a canadian french way to put it, no parisian frenchman would use that specific turn of phrase.
Happy Easter, lads!
I don't think this is a good game but it's also fun to see these guys not understand basic instructions like "attach the microchip to something to throw it."
the puzzle at around 23:00 was actually really cool
"You want me to help you with your pee pee?" In a French accent gets me every time
Does Sophie work for ECOC?
'Ello?!
More like Da Crappy Code, right guys?
...Guys?
I quite enjoyed this game, when I was in my early teens. Mostly for the puzzles. there aren't a lot of puzzle PS 2 games. But it is definitely flawed xD the puzzles are good though.
My dog hates Nicholas Cage. He's happy, that he's not in this movie.
Short Train: Master, they are shooting me! I don't like it, Master!
Sorry, but I'm the BBB boy.. that's literally my initials
I have a beta build of this game on my Debug Kit original xbox, and 2 copies sealed
Pulling a hammer back on a Glock? 10/10 realism 🤣🤣
Glock released a single action pistol for monks in 2012. It was called a Glonk.
OH YEAHHH! HERE WE GOOOOO!
SPORTS T----
Oh wait. Wrong video.
Quoting another CZcams video is tight! It’s super easy barely an inconvenience
6:46 he pulls the hammer on a gun that doesn't have an external hammer lol
Glocks aren't built that way! I've always been confused why a developer could spend hours creating models and animations and do it wrong when they could Google search for accuracy and not waste time
Everybody know that's Big Book Boi.
This maybe the best video Iv ever seen!
I didn't know this game existed
Is it just me that prefers when they have player reviews instead of critic reviews? 😂
Da Vinky?
One-Hit Fist-Kill sounds like the laziest name for a martial arts technique. Or a knock-off of a fighting school's legendary skill.
As a Finn I really enjoyed your butchering of the name of Pelit-magazine. 👍
As a fellow Finn, it was glorious.
Can't blame them though.
My wife and I watched the movie recently and that's when I realized that for years I have been mixing up the ending to the divinci code and the ending to assassin's creed 2. I kept waiting for the Fidelity that takes place in the 16th chapel and that would have been a much better ending than this piece
I'm going for a entire original xbox collection and got a sealed copy of this for $8 🤣 🤣
Its cuz the movie is an atrocity holding like a 26% rating lmao we needed ti follow the novel cuz thats what was critically acclaimed.
A 26%? Geez that’s harsh.
It takes 8 hours to play the game? It took me a little longer than that to read the book. And that was more entertaining.
I miss when they were together for these vids
very funny video, thanks. the game came out in 2006 *
We need a 100% of this game haha
That man sounds so much like Nic Cage
They made a video game about this movie?
Oh no....
This was the era when EVERY movie got a game.
No they made a video game about the book that also had a movie that just so happened to be released at the exact same time.
@@freddiejohnson6137 right
Actually it’s based specifically on the book.
The Da Vinci Blows
The Fighting Mechanic is just as good as a crappy Jump-Cut edit fight scenes in movies!!
National Treasure is a great film. Wouldn't bother with the second one really, but the first one is lots of fun.
Watched both of them again over Easter.
6:45 Wait what the fuck did he just do? It looks like he cocked the hammer but it looks like he's using a Glock model handgun but they don't have hammers.
Had this game on PS2 and loved it
the playable chap look like the fallout 4 default male protag
1:26 BBB, nice
The game based on a book, brought out to coincide with the movie based on the book
You should cover the PS2 Fellowship of the Ring game. It didn’t have the movie license. Terrible.
My nudity has meaning.
No poorly animated Tom Hanks. 0/10.
