- The Scorpion King, a spin-off of The Mummy franchise, is infamous for the scene in which Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson transforms into a CGI scorpion monster. However, the real monster was the video game prequel that was spawned as a result.

@@nickerellys They were also played by either Yuri Lowenthal, or Dwayne Johnson, and could slow down and/or manipulate time with their powers, somewhat. It's a historical fact.
As somebody who beat this game to completion a few times when I was a kid, the fact that you got to the main menu, listened to the music, dicked around in the special features, THEN struggled in the opening levels really means you guys got the ultimate experience out of this. There wasn't much more to it.
I could never get past the 3 Anubis things that kept respawning at the end.
This game was epic but it really did suck at the same time
I played this game every day after school as a kid and beat it but never touched it again, I considered it a year or so ago and still have my copy but after watching it on CZcams I don't want to lol

Hi TripleJump, I am an archaeologist and can attest to the following:
The Akkadians were a Bronze Aged civilisation from Mesopotamia. Less well-known than the Sumerians who preceded them or the Babylonians and Assyrians who succeeded them, the Akkadians nonetheless left their impact through the influence of their language and writing, which appeared in later cultures and even influenced the development of our own modern English.
The historical Scorpion King, being a protodynastic ruler in Egypt, could be considered contemporaneous with the Bronze Aged Akkadians. Unfortunately they were not the same culture, but I am sure this is the only historical flub the creators of the Scorpion King franchise ever made.
That being said, the use of 'Akkadians' and 'Scorpion Kings' in their nomenclature very-much places this franchise within the historical Middle Eastern Early Bronze Age, so hats off to the franchise creators for their research, firmly making this one of THE BEST Bronze Age Themed Games out there (out of a very competitive pool of other games)!

All it took was that one second haha, top tier guilty pleasure that song. Reminds me of that Breaking Benjamin song 'Blow me Away' from Halo 2; the version they added vocals to specifically. Another good game related guilty pleasure; the original instrumental from the game i can take or leave, there's plenty of much better instrumental rock out there.
Dad bought me this when it released because of the Godsmack theme song. This is violent nostalgia to me, bless this video.

What’s funny is that The Mummy Demastered probably got the best reviews of any Mummy game. It was pretty well received.

Weirdly enough Demastered was a sleeper hit that ended up being well regarded.

If I remember correctly, I think the Rock did the Rock Bottom in the movie. I was patiently waiting for him to do the People's Elbow and Say "IF YOU SMELL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKING." 😆👍💪
Hahahaha did he!? I haven't watched this movie since it cames out in the cinema when I was like 10 or 11, but that doesn't shock me. I'm nearly 100% sure Triple H delivers the Pedigree on someone in the Blade 3 movie 😂 I could be wrong because I haven't seen that movie since either but I'm nearly 100% sure I remember somebody getting the Pedigree.

@@sayedistrendingNope, but Triple H's character does fight Ryan Reynolds though, no really. I HAVE seen Blade: Trinity, and it is hilariously bad, and nowhere near as good as the previous 2 Blade movies. But seeing Triple H get beat up by Ryan Reynolds and Blade, and Jessica Biel, was nice. That movie was over 20 years ago, in 2004. The WORST way to end the Blade movies. But again, seeing Triple H getting his ass kicked by Ryan Reynolds, was the only part of the movie worth watching. Besides the end credits, I mean.
This was one of my 2 first ever games, took me 10 years to beat it. I loved the hell out of this game
The Mummy Demastered is a solid game with sweet pixel aesthetics and a bumpin' soundtrack.

The Egyptian Protodynastic period was 3200 - 3000 BCE while the Bronze Age was 3300 - 1200 BCE, so they did overlap.
The Mummy Demastered was actually really good! I love Metroid so it was a great surprise.
It looks and plays amazingly well! I never saw The Mummy reboot but the game is well worth playing.
I remember playing this game when it first came out. My aunt bought it for my for some holiday or birthday or something, and I was less then ecstatic to say the least, but I remember being happily surprised at what a good game it actually turned out to be. You have to look at it in retrospect. Remember what even AAA games looked like at the time, and remember that I was probably either still in elementary or middle school.
I remember the first shot in this movie is a dude catching a ninja star to the eye. Now THAT’S cinema!
Rock in the menu art looks like it's a freezeframe of when Rock mocked the Undertaker in his promo before Armageddon 2000.

I don't think this is that bad a game but it has aged badly

Even accounting for the era it was released, the game is just dull and boring. There’s nothing in the game that seems fun or worth playing through.
First game I ever owned for the GameCube.. played it for weeks before I even got a memory card. Great memories of a terrible game

The sad thing is that there was a kid who was excited to get this game from gamestop after seeing the movie.
Probably because of their love of the Scorpion King movie or seeing Rock "The Dwayne" Johnson's horrendous CG in The Mummy Returns.
Stamina bars generally refill on their own as you rest, this is more like a mana bar.

The final boss in this game is a pain in the ass.
I remember playing this game all the way to the boss. Somehow I made it through the entire game but when it came to fighting the boss, couldn't last longer than a few attacks.
Come to find out I was supposed to ground pound the cracks in walls and the ground found throughout the game which would have raised my strength and endurance. I didn't do a single one the entire game.

Agreed!! Mummy demastered is super underrated. I bought it on the e shop for my switch one night just cus I was bored as hell and it ended up being way wayyy more fun than I thought it would be. It’s ironic cus the movie it’s based off of is pretty shit

The Mummy game from 2004 was based on the animated series and J2ME is an old java based phone game format.

The Mummy Demastered is actually a damn good game. It's not a particularly good Metroidvania, but it is competent and it plays a lot like old school Contras. So fans of either game(s), will find a lot to enjoy with Demastered. The OST is also fire.

Pretty sure I actually completed this game when I was younger although I don’t remember a thing about it. Back then there weren’t many places that sold games nearby, so I often had to make do with the games that I did have.

As sometimes happens on here, seems like a pretty sweet game to me. Nice graphics and creativity. And I miss cutscenes with a narrator like that in the beginning
It's not terrible...but you need to actually play it to understand how quickly un-fun it becomes. Gameplay is not great, looking back
