Tbf a lot of this one was on Grin by the sounds of it. After they went defunct they went on to start a new company called Overkill Software and made the Payday games, which are decent, and Overkill's The Walking Dead, which is garbage. So overall not a fantastic track record. Except for Bionic Commando Rearmed and Payday's soundtracks, those are 10/10.
Bionic Commando 2009 is one of those games where someone in charge of development had a vision, and was committed to it. Problem is the vision was a load of absolute shit.

I mean, it was made on a budget of a single season of DLC for Street Fighter V. It’s kind of a miracle it came out at all. You’re right that fighting games live and die on their visual style and we know how much was spent on it only after the fact. I still think on its gameplay merits alone (speaking as someone who has yet to play the release version but has heard a lot of good things about it), it shouldn’t have been as shunned as it was. Hopefully if we ever DO get another entry though, Capcom and Disney realize that the MARVEL part of MARVEL VS CAPCOM matters as much as the Capcom side (visually). And vice versa.

@Tom Quirk I need to get involved with this because yeah, Apollo Justice Ace Attorney should get a Wha Happun. Thing is, the original plan for Apollo Justice aka Gyakuten Saiban 4 was that it was going to be a reboot focusing on new characters. But somewhere down the line, Capcom felt that if Phoenix Wright wasn't going to be in the game, it wouldn't sell. So they shoehorned in Phoenix Wright at the expense of Apollo's character development. To be fair, Apollo Justice is Underrated. Truly. But in my opinion, it all worked out in the end because Dual Destinies and Spirit of Justice helped Apollo's character a lot that it made me appreciate him more.

I remember legitimately enjoying Bionic Commando on it's release. (Yes. I bought the damn thing on it's release.) At first I was enjoying the game. Like the swinging and combat was a lot of fun from what I could remember and I remember having a very positive reaction to it. But then a character would open their mouths and I would start to worry. The dialog was pretty cringe for even 2009 standards. Like the original Gears had more compelling dialog and characters and I'm pretty sure half of that game was written by a sentient Mountain Dew can.
By the end of the game, I honestly felt that the games presentation, dialog, world, like anything that wasn't me pressing buttons or listening to the music (Which was pretty great orchestrated stuff) was trying it's best to derail my experience. By the time the "wife-arm" twist was shown... Man, I dunno what the right word for it was. Numb? It was just another moment in a laundry list of really stupid stuff. Like, the stupidity of the twist was appropriate to the stupidity of the dialog and everything that was happening.
Hey! Fun thing about Fortress! It wasn't JUST a Final Fantasy spin-off game...
IT WAS GOING TO BE A DIRECT SEQUEL TO FINAL FANTASY XII.
You were going to play as Basch (cool!) and he was going to be in a relationship or something with Ashe (huh- alright?) but by the end of the game she would have developed feelings for that kid Larsa (wait. what?) and they would marry and Basch would die but be resurrected as a sea king (brain 404 error).
