    Beautiful tractors. I have a 73 i plow snow with as well as landscape with, and a 74 I mow grass with. Got a square mower deck for it, it throws grass out of both ends of the deck. I'm also s International Harvester Cub Cadet tractor fan to, love those tractors as well to.

      They don't build them like power king anymore. It is almost time to get the mowing deck back on. Do you have the 83" drive belt for your deck? I go through 2 a year, the design allows alot of slop and the belt V belt width seems too small. I think it is a B-size. But the belts are3 cheap and super easy to change.

      @@haparoundthehouse6618 Sorry, didn't see your question until now. To be honest, I buy belts at Tractor Supply, you have to find out which belt would be best to fit your tractor. Keep the packaging as well as get a small notebook and keep your records clearly written so that when the time comes to buy your parts and belts and blades, you've got it all written down and on record. Also, Mission is a place yo buy parts for these tractors, they are a wharehouse I believe in Indiana, they have a toll free number to order parts from. These tractors ard the very best.

    switch your rear tires around and you will get more traction .ag tires should (point) toward the front. great tractor! I have a 78 power king and love it.

      Power kings are awesome tractors. I may switch them in the fall. I have had the tractor for 8 years, no problems so far with slipping in the snow when plowing. I may switch them and see how it goes. Thanks for the tip. What is the HP on yours?

      Mine is a 14hp . Cut grass with it all last year .this will be my first year playing in the garden with it.

      This 1970 started life as a 14 now has a 16 HP kohler. 1970 and 1978 look still look a lot alike.

      78 and 70 look a lot alike. The dual trans really gear the tractor down. Well built tractors, I think this one will be around for quite a while longer. I may have some head work to do, my park plug works it's way out once a year-I m now trying to remember to tighten it a couple of times during use.

    I'm trying to understand how and when to utilize the dual transmissions. It sounds like you leave the front transmission in third. Three forward gears on each transmission so you have 9 speeds. I'm just trying to learn more about our 1969 power king.

    • @haparoundthehouse6618
      @haparoundthehouse6618  Před 6 lety

      I usually leave the front in 3rd and the back in second for mowing. This a reasonable speed that is comfortable. Now I do work both through the gears to keep the forks and mechanism moving inside to keep them from freezing up. Have you checked the fluid levels?

    • @nickw1559
      @nickw1559 Před 6 lety +1

      You really have 5 speeds , 2-3 is no different then 3-2. you can pick a range with the back transmission and then the three gears in that range. btw both trans in reverse you go forward !

      Depends-duel tranny's- tire condition and are they loaded. But anything under a grand is a good deal. My tractor is a 1970, and i gave $600 or $700 for it and have run it since 2008-tough old tractors. Perhaps one of the best built tractors of it's time. Facebook marketplace/craigs list are great ways to find these.

    I have one but i dont understand the 2 transmission and why there is 2 and i dont know how to work it can you explain it please?

    • @haparoundthehouse6618
      @haparoundthehouse6618  Před 5 lety

      I think 2 trannys was an option. If you put both in reverse the tractor goes forward. You can use different combinations of gears to achieve the speed you want. These were built to handle ground engaging equipment so slow speeds are needed.
      I have taken the tops off the transmissions and changed/added oil as they leak a bit.
      Solid tractor.

    Why re-invent the wheel? Power King had a front plow that they sold. They are cheap and easily availably online. They are also much more heavy duty than the plow that you have. It just seems like you did a lot of work and figuring things out for a problem that doesn't exist ???
