  • To celebrate the one year of ownership of this tractor, I decided that I would do a review of everything that I've done to it since I've owned this machine.

    Don't work about what other people say. If it works for you. That's what matters. You have a very nice machine there. Your making it yours. Plus you are saving old iron. I may get one some day. Keep up the great work Sir. Plus you have memories of that actual tractor. That makes it that much better.

    When you looked over the fence as a young kid, you were viewing a very cool looking tractor. I just bought a 77 that needs a transmission. I called Jerry Frank, and he has the parts, so I'll be tearing it down soon. Great job on the upkeep. If you mow with it, and keep it well maintained and garaged, you'll never have to buy another mower.

      +Luvstruck Thanks for the message! Yes, you are very right about how they look. It really captured me when I was a young kid. I had never seen another like it before. I'm looking forward to another season of mowing with it coming up and yes, it is definitely garaged.
      Congrats on your '77! That's great you found Jerry Frank. He's a helpful guy. Good luck on the trans rebuild!

      Where I live you never see these tractors. most people here have never heard of them. I did run into an old man up in Ohio while searching for some parts awhile back. He had purchased an entire power king dealership worth of leftovers and parts. It was unreal the stuff he had. All this body style too. none of the newer fiberglass ones.

    • @AustenARW
      @AustenARW  Před 7 lety +1

      Yeah, it really depends upon the part of the country you live in. I'm on the west coast and you don't see vintage outdoor power equipment very much either. It is a lot more prominent in the mid west and east coast. That's awesome you ran into someone bought out the inventory of a PK dealership. I'll bet it was fun to see all that he had acquired.

    • @JohnWayne-es8gl
      @JohnWayne-es8gl Před 7 lety +1

      I guess what happened is when they quit making that style. People started junking them. Thinking maybe they wouldn't be able to get parts.
      Oh it was. I never dreamed anyone would have that much PK stuff. He had 8-10 complete tractors of various years and sizes. And buildings full of every part, attachments, engines and transmissions. You name it.
      I have another one that I may try to restore too. Now that I know where to find the parts if I need them

    Hello Austen how did you get the mower under the tractor?

    • @AustenARW
      @AustenARW  Před 7 lety

      Do you have the mule drive hooked up? There is a chain that it hooked up to the lift lever that attaches near the back of the deck. The are two arms that attach via pins on the front. Here is my project thread has pictures of it that may help. Push the deck underneath it and it should be pretty self-explanatory- there's not a lot to it in terms of its attachment. www.mytractorforum.com/200-power-king-economy-tractors/307993-1977-economy-tractor-project-thread-3.html

    • @danbasta3677
      @danbasta3677 Před 5 lety

      Tell ya what ya want to do. When positioning the mower deck underneath the tractor, line up the arms of both the mounting bracket as well as the arms of the mower deck. Put or brace wood underneath the deck to slightly lift the deck so that you can aline the holes with the pins. The two by four pieces of wood placed underneath the deck itself will act as a lift and to help in aligning your holes for mounting. Onece the holes are aligned and pinned, or, close to getting pinned, take your power take off belt and get it in place on the front power take off clutch and the two round guides which are in the front of the tractor down from the poepwer take off clutch. Once aligned, the PTO belt all sligned accordingly, pin your deck as well as your deck arms onto the front brackett. There as Austin mentioned, is a chsne hanging down, pin the chain onto the rear back deck. Once aeverything is in place, deck arms, front tractor brackett, and rear chain attached to the back part of the deck, now it's time to position your PTO belt onto the blade spindles, it will be hard to do this at first, however when the brlt is in place, get a three quarter large wrench and turn the one mower deck blade spindle clock wise after it's been put on the three quarter nut and spin the spindel counter clock wise and your PTO deck be.t shoud snap into place, however before spinning the spindle with tge wrench, make dog gone sure the velt is aligned in the front to the back spool then spin counter clockwise, the pto belt will then fall into place. Pick up your deck and get your two by four boards out from underneath the mower deck, mound your tractor, back her up and into your lawn and hit your Power Take Off clutch, your belt should be seated properly, your blades turning approprately, go and mow a little grass to test her out, and your all set and ready yo mow grass with the mower blades and deck. Always remember to keep your deck clean underneath from built up grass, paint your deck with black paint to keep the grass acid from rusting out your mower deck and even more important, greese your blades before even begin mowing along with checking your engine oil and other various oils and fluids before mowing. Keep your blades razor sharp as razor sharp blades will cut your grass, dull blades will only rip your grass out by the roots, thus inviting weeds and dandelions to grow in your lawn that you don't want to have. Sharp blades makes the tractor engine work less harder, and is considered maintance on your tractor. The Power King tractors use of a ftong to back PTO belt is exactly the very same principle used on the International Harvester Cub Cadet tractors as well to.
