UNLEASHING my Golf R with IE Stage 1 - Install/How to

  • In this video I'll be throwing both Integrated Engineering Stage 1 and DSG tune on my 2019 Golf R and UNLEASHING the power! I'll also show you first hand my experience installing IE Stage 1 on my Golf R & hopefully show anyone who doesn't know, a rough idea on how to tune your Golf R or similar MQB platform vehicle.
    Tuning your car is an essential part of getting the best power numbers out of your engine. IE's Powerlink dongle is a great tool to help you tune your car to maximize performance with it's flashing software.

    I have a 18 R Stage 1 IE and the tuning process is definetly nerve racking the first time. The DSG and ECU tune totally changed the car i dropped my launch down to 3500 that was where i was getting the best times so youll have to run some launches and see what works best for your tire setup.

    • @MkKevin
      @MkKevin  Před rokem +1

      I’ve done one launch at 4000 since tuning & I definitely spun all 4 briefly off the line, I’ll most likely drop to 3500 or 3750

      It is well worth it. Stage 1 is off the shelf tune. Just make sure you are up to date with oil changes, spark plugs.
      Even a stage 2 on IE is safe, with the DSG tune.
      I really really noticed the difference with an aftermarket catted downpipe.
      These engines have a cat right at the turbo exit. Having the catted downpipe lowered the engine bay temps.

      I recently heard of a couple mutual friends blowing up their engine on IE stage 2.. I’m not sure if they’re super unlucky or if there is a flaw with the flash rn. I would love to go stage 2 eventually but hearing that was a shocker to me

    I had the same experience after my tune. The instructions state, "start the car". Then "shut the car off". Then "start the car again". I wasn't able to start the car until I turned everything off from the accessories mode it was still on from the tune. IE needs to update that small detail and quit giving people heart attacks. Lol. BUT, the tune was incredible on my Q5 and I highly recommend.

      You should run Unitronic stage 1, they’re all about running on stock bolt ons and running for reliability and drivability, they don’t push the transmission at all and then run on low boost, if you want a little more fun with maximum reliability to accompany it. I think everyone would tell you to go with unitronic, if you’re more interested search up Unitronic stage 1 mk7 golf and watch the guy that has a manbun, his gti build is sick and he goes into detail on unitronic
