We have a 2010 RX 350. Was my daily driver. Our daughter drove it for 4 years during her medical school. At 130K, we replaced the brakes and shocks. The A/C died. Dealer quoted $3400 to replace the compressor and clutch. Local small garage replaced for about $1800. Plan to keep the car for another four years as the daughter finishes her residency. Other than these repairs, the car still drives like new, smooth as butter. No rattles. Paint looks great. Seats are almost new looking. Love it.

2010 at 235,000 miles - it’s been through my wife’s daily driver, older daughter’s high school car then college car, younger daughter’s high school car, and will be her college car after this year, for her last 3 years. Dead solid to 200k, AC compressor at 200k, finally a rough patch at 230k - rear shock, rusted exhaust. None of these listed issues.

That oil leak was because the original design of the VVT-I oil line was made of a combination of metal and rubber. The redesigned replacement oil line was made of all metal and works perfectly fine. What you forgot to mention was there is another high pressure oil line coming off of the oil cooler. That one was also originally made of metal and rubber but has been redesigned after 2011 and now made of all metal. So when you say they still had the same problem with a massive oil leak It's NOT because the redesigned VVT-I oil line still leaks, It's because the oil line that runs out of the oil cooler also develops massive leaks because the original design was also made of metal and rubber. The revised all metal part is only about $75 from Toyota and Is very easily accessible to get to just by removing 1 or 2 of the bottom plastic covers. About one hour of labor unlike the VVT-I oil line replacement labor time that take many hours.

Hey everyone with a 2013 RX 350 or Sport, greatest vehicle on the road! If you have. trouble with your rear hatch not opening with the power motor; there is a reset button in the glove compartment on the left side that resets the power lift motor. It is amazing thing to find! I have 125K mile on my Lexus and not a single problem except for the struts on the hood, witch I fixed with a light bamboo pole! and changed out the battery and one headlight.

I am driving a 2013 RX350, had none of these issues except for the leaky vvti line lower connection passenger side. Fixed it myself for $1 only, it was the gasket washer which is easy to change. As long as the lines are metallic ones, this is no problem at all. I heard about some versions of RX350 with rubber vvti lines which I think are the dangerous ones.
Other problems exist though, like there is a weak point on radiator body near the cap. It will leak some coolant yet it is easily fixable.
Sorry to say it, but the review was not objective.

My whole carpet was flooded because of it. I had to tear the interior apart to take it out, wash it and install it back. Not fun at all.
Ended up with taping my sunroof with heavy duty rv type tape.
I don't use the sunroof anyway so just don't want to deal with it anymore. There is so much electrical parts on the floor and hybrid batteries as well.

I'm a line tech at lexus and never have had or heard of that issue once lol. The oil cooler lines are a common leak since the old part was made with rubber lines but they have an updated part thats all metal. Also the most common leak would be the timing cover. the 350's are known for that on RX's anyways.

Surprised to hear the oil leaks. Is there a mileage where that might be expected or does that just happen when it does?

Nope.. but get it fixed before it does. Or you might be fixing a blown engine. It dumps oil instantly and with no warning.

What’s the difference between lexus 2010 & 2011 Rx 350 trim. Which of them has fog light, navigation & video screen. Should I focus on checking oil leaks only?

    • @KiLleRcix
      @KiLleRcix Před 2 lety +1

They both have the features u mentioned. But also depends on the option package u select. I have a 2010 w/fog lights, fwd, 5 disc CD changer, Bluetooth, XM radio, aux connection, fog lights, sunroof, etc.
What I didn't ask for was navigation (used Garmin @ time...😃). Also didn't need back up cam or bumper sensors because I know how to park... 😄
*Edit* : I now use my phone (Google Maps) for GPS which obviously connects to Bluetooth and can still listen to 🎶 from another app.

The only electrical issues.. sunroof drains clog and water runs into car right onto left and right kick foot areas down into harness / junction blocked. Simply blow out sunroof drains w compressed air and remove and blow out harness connecting at junction blocks.

If all this is true, than you get the production scrap in the US or they will not be produced in Japan. In Europe, the Middle East and Asia, we pushed the sh*t out of these cars and they have only one main problem, and that is rust. If it is detected and dealt with in time, there will be no problem with it.
