  • On BudgetEDH we build fun and optimized commander decks with a pre-set budget in mind. In this week's episode, we build a $100 budget Tergrid, God of Fright deck from the Magic the Gathering set Kaldheim. Tergrid is a Legendary God that has a powerful ability to put permanent cards onto the battlefield that our opponents either discard or sacrifice. We built this deck to take advantage of this ability by focusing heavily on discard effects and ways of making our opponents sacrifice their permanents so we can gain maximum value from Tergrid's ability. This deck will accrue a lot of value with Tergrid on the battlefield. This is a punishing deck that will punish your opponents by shredding their hands and always having an answer to their threats through interaction.

My favorite interaction is Nightmare Shepherd with one of the sac creatures. Once the Shepherd is on the field cast a Demon's Deciple/etc..., sac the Deciple, Shepherd triggers and you create a Deciple token, which activates the sac-ability once again, so the other players have to sac 2 creatures :) It get's the board empty quick.

Tainted Aether looks great...but it’s not a cast trigger. If you steal a creature, you have to sac a creature or land. Sure you can play around it with Weaponcraft Enthusiast or the like...but you need a strong showing of that kind of sub theme to break the parity.

True, but you have to admit you'll almost assuredly have dudes to spare.

Tainted aether is not that great IMO, since you put the creatures into play from the graveyard with tergrid's trigger you would also have to sacrifice a creature or land.

I guess that card is a plan b if they are swarming you and you just play the back of your commander at that point

I just got on here to say my playgroup uses Lord Xander and Tegrid and I hate em both. I despise the bastard who came up with these broken ass cards. 😂 So I designed my own bullshit deck using Shattergang brothers wish me luck I test it this Wednesday. All in all her ability is 😎👍

Me and my brother have burn decks. we only play them when trying to mess with people. So everyone needs at least one “fun for me” deck.
