    It's worth considering buying a single mining tie and then using the 2 starter ties along with it as "3 mining ties"
    Just saying. It's a true budget option.

    • @juanandresramirez5336
      @juanandresramirez5336 Před 4 lety +5

      Just for fun, yes, but it's not allowed in official competitions. And the main obstacles is dials, because I bet they're not exactly the same; you can proxy all the cards, but the dials are a little tougher (not impossible, though)

    • @sachadelanghe4337
      @sachadelanghe4337 Před 3 lety +3

      @@juanandresramirez5336 Sorry for necro'ing. Indeed the issue is dials. (Same goes for First Order Ties vs regular, I have some from a First order vs ressistance first edition core set).
      The upside is, the difference between the Mining tie & regular tie is fortunately minimal.
      Regular tie has a white 5 forward and a 3 & 4 K turn
      Mining Tie has a red 5 forward and only a 3 K turn
      So for home play you could state that a 4 K turn is not possible on that dial and the 5 forward is red.

    I’ve REALLY appreciated these recent “what to buy first” videos, Crabbok. Thank you! I am looking to get started with the 2.0 core set and then expand my fleet with rebel and imperial factions first. I have played Star Trek Attack Wing for the past several years so I am familiar with the basic mechanics of the game. I love both franchises, but when I started buying Attack Wing stuff I was more into Star Trek. Now, I’m more interested in Star Wars as are my kids, my primary gaming buddies! Thanks again, and keep up the great work!

    Just my 2 cents as a scum player who has only played second edition. Slave 1 and fang fighter would be my first buys. I bought lando's millenium falcon and have never used it. Wanted to use Han Gunner but points went up and it wasnt worthwhile any more. Next would probably be interceptor and punishing one. As long as you're having fun you're doing it right. Thanks for these videos Crabbok!

    I have been playing since early in 1.0. I agree with the core set, but not with the other ones in the top 3. Someone starting out needs ships over cards. 2.0 is way more ship weighted. On a budget, pick a bounty hunter or smuggler ship, then pick up some headhunters or mineing ties. The mineing ties allow forgiveness on asteroids which can mitigate some early disadvantages if you are flying tournaments with less ships and experience.

  • @henrykoepp1597
    @henrykoepp1597 Před 4 lety

    you don't actually need the core set at the time of writing, and you don't need to go third party either. You can get the deluxe range ruler/movement tools, a scum and villainy damage deck, and a dice pack from FFG themselves. obstacles too.

  • @thelastraider6786
    @thelastraider6786 Před 2 lety

    I would suggest the starter pack with the hawk and two ywings.
    You get three ships and you can bolster ether the xwing or the two ties with in it for the money or bounty hunter cards then you can merc out your scum ships and get a feel for them.

  • @boomknight1015
    @boomknight1015 Před 11 měsíci +1

    To be fair, there is a lot of rebel/scum cards so basically doing it as a side faction is fair.

  • @djumeau
    @djumeau Před 4 lety +1

    The Huge ship conversion kit has stands for only 2 ships. I have tried to ask to get other plastic stands from Asmodee and they would not get me some. If there was a recommendation, I would really urge FFG to release other stands instead of getting other stands. (The stands do not match between v1 and v2.)

  • @ItsaVibe22
    @ItsaVibe22 Před 2 lety

    Damn i was kinda interested but it's super complicated and it's the cost I'm talking about. It seems more if just a collectors thing than a game but that is cool too. Almost had me tho. Was going to get my nephews started but they would all need like 3 separate packs to not get bored and the starter has 2 ships that would go to waste making the game low priority abd the collecting ($$) high priority. I think they would have liked it tho.

    Just new to the game, dont own anything yet, is getting 2-3 core set a good thing? If i remember correctly, I read somewhere that during 1.0, a 6 Tie-fighter can put a goodfight. I'd like to start on the Empire.

    • @Crabbok
      @Crabbok  Před 3 lety +1

      It’s probably a bit overkill and you won’t have that much variety. There’s simply soooo many options available and likely new TIE Fighters being announced soon for a new wave of aces packs, you may want to wait a bit.

    i really wouldnt recommend the starter set if you only intend to play scum. the ships are next to useless, the damage deck and a complete set of asteroids can be bought elsewhere. the only thing you get would be the range ruleres and templates but 9/10 people replace them with acrylic templatesa after the first couple games

    • @josephmoberly2109
      @josephmoberly2109 Před 4 lety

      True but if you add it up it costs more. You can always sell or give away the ships and some cards.

      @bageldrone Před 4 lety

      @@josephmoberly2109 if youre more than likely going to pay the price eventually anyway i dont see the argument for it. you will replace the range rulers, you will replace the tokens, rules leaflets are out of date, you dont get a full set of obstacles so you will need to buy the expansaion anyways.

    lando falcon is a bad first ship, its complicated and currently used very little. slave 1 or jumpmaster is far better.
