For real.
The dialog in these movies is really smart.
She's the Catwoman to his Batman.
Yeah, this rendition of Sherlock and Irene has that. I kinda dig it.
Except batman is so lame
That's how I like to explain her character.
I heard somewhere Batman was at least partly inspired by sherlock Holmes
Watson=robin
Ms hudson= Alfred
Lestrade=Gordon
Moriarty=the joker/riddler

In short.
He loves her but is too smart to let her play him.
She knows he loves her but is too smart to rely on only that in playing him.
She loves him as well
@@digontozahid yes, but only his feelings are a liability in their dynamic.
She can easily separate her feelings for him from the task, he can not.
Oh she plays him, and she loves him too

As always, Hans Zimmer’s score is superb.
Agreed! Brilliant as always!
I love the thought behind his disguise. A person's nose is one of their most defining features, the cake to mask his breath and slur his speech, the hat and coat (obvious), and the accidental soot all played a part to make his new persona.
I wonder if the soot was accidental. He plays things off so well!
I think the soot wasn't accidental, he was clearly expecting a 'breakthrough' on his jump out the window 😁
The soot was both accidental and non accidental , he didnt expect that shed to break but when it did he used the soot around to soot up.
Yes, Captain Obvious...
I wish they bring Irene Adler back in part 3. Rachel McAdams would totally nail it again

The Mean Girl meets the Iron Man.
Sherlock, stop trying to make "fetch" happen, IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!
I love the little things in this scene like the way they sit down.
Adler sits down very casually while Holmes takes a seat like he is the one visiting.
This is the first time I saw this scene so I actually thought they were at her house until half way through the clip because of the acting.
or just how this scene begins with her breaking his nuts.
i love watson's rather smug smirk when he states that Irene "made a proper idiot out of [Sherlock]". i love the dynamic.
Jude law and rdj have great chemistry.
I always enjoy how Watson just automatically holds the door open bur after his face just goes "hold on a second"
Robert Downey Junior's mannerisms and accent are spot on. Its very tough for an American actor to really nail the role of an iconic British character like Sherlock Holmes. His accent especially of a street vagabond when he encounters the Moriarty sitting inside the coach hidden in the shadows is very authentic.
Yoo 7:23 the sharp camera tilt to indicate the completion of Sherlock’s disguise is amazing
Irene Adler gives off that Tim Burton vibe.
The scream at 5:35 gets me every time hahahaha

Irene: Hold the Door.
Watson: Why of course, dear Lady *He holds it open*
Irene: Thanks, Doctor
Watson: What a polite- hang on a minute...

Irene Adler is the only women and also the only person who was able to trick Holmes according to the books due to which Holmes started admiring her obviously not forgetting his eccentric nature and later fell in love with her until everything changed with the cup of tea in game of shadows ☹️☹️
not true in the books he says he has been bested by three or four men and one women, she isnt the only one just the most famous

I love how Irene is a criminal. “She could sit on ur back & paddle u up the Thames”. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Let's start a petition that there should be no Sherlock Holmes 3 without Guy Ritchie as the director.
at least we will get the movie after years :(
Why?
I *LOVE* this movie! So stylish, with such great soundtrack!
I was just thinking about that now, it's the type of music roma or gypsy people from Romania play, we call it muzica "lautareasca". Goran Bregovic used this sort of bands for his albums. In any case it works brilliantly here
Subtle detail at 1:43 when Holmes is pouring tea, he's actually pouring with an "assassin's teapot." Note the way his fingers change slightly when pouring between his drink and Irene's. He's covering a small hole on top to allow the secondary area to pour instead, with something most likely to neutralize Irene so he can get answers out of her.
However, Irene being one step ahead of Holmes, takes the cup he poured for himself. That's why he sniffs his cup and proceeds to not drink from it.
I don’t think so. She made the tea, and he doesn’t trust her at all.
Nah it's not that, it's simply the case of Holmes not trusting Irene. Holmes is not the type of person to use drugs to force confiessions, that would be too boring for him.
I like RDJ as ironman but his acting skills is way beyond that... He needs better roles..
You know he must be getting scripts to look at all the time. He and his wife have their own production company too. He needs to make better CHOICES. No one has ever questioned his talent

Well he's not gonna be Ironman anymore
4:20 - One thing I find sincerely *hilarious* about British comedies - of which Guy Ritchie makes *extremely dark* versions of - is how they so often have so-called "friends" savagely *roasting* each other.
Watson: What could she possibly need? An alibi? A beard? A human canoe. She could sit on your back and... paddle you up the Thames.🤣
They did Irene wrong in Sherlock 2.
Irene was always supposed to be a one of character, i know its sad that they dont explore the character too much.
@@DeepShyam But irene addler is a character in a scandal of bohemia in the adventure of sherlock holmes ,why this character is here,Although THE Lord Blackwood doesn't exist in the adventures of sherlock for sir Arthur, can you discuss 😀 it to me, cause iam confused
@@TheEnglish4Castles i think Lord Blackwood character is a reference or a nod to the Hounds of Baskervilles chapter. Both has a similar theme, where there appears to be a supernatural force at first sight but its nothing but a trickery of science.
Guys! I really think that Irene might live and Sherlock saved her. But just my theory. Big Sherlock fan btw.
THE WOMAN ;)
5:43 WATSON!
AHH
WATSON!!!!
Best part of the whole film
Absolutely! The funny part is...he´s got no reason at all to call for Watson and 3 seconds later when he leaves the dump, he seems to forgotten about it all together. As if it was just a reflex.

This version of sherlock played by RBJ and Rachel is my all time favorite.

@@jessicalukram74This franchise has much more authenticity than the other one personally speaking.
I went to see this movie with my mom in the theater on Christmas day. It was one of the last memories I'll have with her. I was just a teenager. It will always bring me back to that day with her.
The CAW! When he jumps out the window is beautiful
Worldly. In Irene’s defense, she only carries a switch blade because pepper spray wasn’t employed yet. 🐝 And those scrubs got what they deserved!Sherlock in puppy love. 🐶💕 Precious.
She does Canada proud.
Lol I love that they dubbed Jared Harris over the original Moriarty voice.
I do so enjoy how Irene plays sherlock like an old Fiddle 😂😂
They changed Moriarty's voice to suit the actor in the following film. I remember specifically that the voice was much deeper.
Andrew Jack did the voice for the original release. After Game of Shadows released they had Ed Harris redub the lines for future media releases of the first film.
My original blu-ray still has Mr Jacks deep voice on it [edit: Jared Harris...not Ed]
@@razorfett147 Jared Harris you mean. Not Ed.
But yes. I wonder what Game of Thrones would be like with Andrew playing Moriarty.
But still Jared did a terrific job.
It's kinda cool how he fell into the woodshed; all that dirt and soot really did make him look like a beggar 😅😅😅
Please make Guy Ritchie come back for Sherlock Holmes 3; it won't be the same without him otherwise..
She is just fantastic in everything
I enjoyed both of these films, but I really hate it in movies when the characters spend a whole film rescuing someone, only for that someone to get killed-off right at the start of the sequel. It completely undermines the point of the previous movie! Just look at the hatred for ALIEN 3, TERMINATOR DARK FATE, and IRON EAGLE 2 to name but a few. Ah well, maybe they'll find a way to bring Irene back in the third film.... 🤔
Actually she is in the cast😁
@@dianaf2257 In that case, I'll keep my fingers crossed! 👍

@Diana Farabi, Cool! Hopefully it's not merely a flashback. 🙂
I know what you mean, I didnt like that also. But like previous comment said, she’s back in the third one if they ever get around to making it. Guy Richie, the director confirmed Rachel Mcadams returned.
man, I love these two Sherlock movies… they are so intricate and grand and there’s scale and Jr is the best Sherlock. My only regret is that Irene died so soon in part 2
I really like how this actor, whoever he is, speaks in a voice almost identical to Jared Harris as Moriarty in the sequel.
It is Jared Harris, they got him to redub all the Moriarty scenes in this movie for the DVD release.
Is it just me, or does it sound like they had Jared Harris redub Moriarty's lines after the second movie was released?
Yeah, but why?
@@ComedyBros5 Probably for continuity's sake.
@@ComedyBros5 They rereleased a few times the movies with 4k and bluray and whatnot, so since they bundled the two movies together in sales, they also added this modification as a feature.
ah, so it was re-dubbed. I was scratching my head for a moment, as I was pretty sure Moriarty did NOT sound like Jared Harris in this scene.
@@ritwik5774 Obviously it's not sound like Jared Harris, cause it's Actually is Jared Harris

Watching these again, I think this feels more like a sequel to a movie we didn’t get.
She's most adorable actress of the movie franchise.
This is probably the most delightful scene in the whole series.
5:05 I like how this short flashbacks tell us that he is following every move she makes from the start.
Criminally underrated movies that deserved a couple more movies.
This movie had a couple of great visual gags. How he tilts his hat and the frame tilts sideways with it, or in that other scene when there's the box with arrows pointing "this side up" and then the camera pans and you see it is upside down..
I loved this scene. He took disguise while following her.
When the two smart kids in class like one another but are to full of themselves to admit it: *"I SMELL A CHIKA DANCE"*
Robert and Rachel, two Americans, so deftly playing Brits........ amazing! Probably one of the best depictions (if not THE best) of "role reversal".... thumbs up to both of them and their immense talent!
Rachel is Canadian🇨🇦🍁
Irene adler is actually american(from new jersey): which is actually accurate to the sir doyle story she appeared in. I personally love mcadams' portrayal of her.
Irene is using an American accent, as in the books she is an American…

Perfect as Irene. I prefer RDJ as Holmes over Cucumber, but I cannot choose between Rachel McAds and Lara Pulver. Both were goddesses in this role.
But only Rachel had both gentlemen so she wins. 😂❤
No need to compare different adaptations/styles/approaches.
07:13 Is it just me or does the lack of soot over Holmes' VISIBLE eye make it look like he tried the patch over THAT eye, then had a change of heart. "No wait. Need the dominant right eye clear." And shifted the patch to his LEFT eye? 😆

3:23 they changed his voice from the original. This ties in to the sequel nicely.
Still hoping for a part 3
It's booked & is supposedly happening, but Ritchie is not returning to direct. He's half of what made these movies so fantastic, so I won't be watching.
These were two spectacularly good films. I was very upset that the delightful McAdams did not have a happy ending.
She looks so much like a young Famke Janssen especially when she smiles.
That Hat tilt at the end?? 10/10
We need Sherlock Holmes 3
I❤️her personality
Robert is an amazing actor, seems like he was born for acting, which he basically was I guess, the fact that he emerged from addiction is incredible, I know from personal experience, once your labeled that's usually it, but he somehow rebounded and succeeded, that's not an easy path.
The kind of woman you want, but are too afraid to have.
Still a better love story than a Twilight.
Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes cannot be bettered.
2:06 the best answer... ever xD
When I first watched this scene and when found out that was Homes in the disguise I was like that's how she got those roses
Her eyes...😶❤
in the story written by Arthur Conan Doyle, Holmes had 4 times failed in his mission 3 men and 1 woman. the woman was Irene Adler and therefore Holmes admired her intelligence.
Fantastic beautiful movies the best
This is how Batman and Catwoman's relationship should be 😁
Pretty much how it is. The world-class detective and the femme fatale he loves but constantly has to foil
2 things that the second movie did not use:
Adler's necklace, the maharaja missing diamond, taken by Sherlock towards the end of the first movie was gifted to Watson and Mary's wedding as the new ring after it was lost in the tussle looking for the red headed little person.
second; Moriarty did not at all use his mini gun in his sleeve. I am very curious as to why he even had it in this movie but not at all in the second. I was hoping he would have used it during the final fight after the chess game. MMMMM i love this movie. everything is so intense and extrospective--for a lack of a better word.
Best scene, best movie, best RDj!
she better come back in part 3
So... in a way, Irene is like Catwoman to Sherlock's Batman. Interesting!
