I always found the Doyle characters they peppered into the series quite odd, Lestrade, Moriarty etc.. none were all that fully rounded, more an afterthought, Sherlock the show itself was in name only. I loved it as a detective procedural but as a great fan of 'Holmes' incarnations this doesn't nearly cut the mustard
He's more like typical bloke you met in a pub. They really need to use an actor with more striking features. Sherlock, even the book version always have strikingly unique character. Skinny, weird, unkempt hair and obvious drug addiction. This guy is none of that. He looks like he go to gym and play football every Saturday
