My guess was hydraulic press. I am not good at this game 😥

It's unclear.

I really like Tyranth and Nate. I am so glad they joined Shad on the show here.
Was about to comment on he same thing
Tyranth had somr teething problems and clashes when he first came onboard but now i cant imagine the show without him. Massive fan 😊
@Infinite_warden Watching Nate and Tyranth stand there and wait for Shad to stop ranting reminds me of Top Gear. Then they'll try to direct Shad back to the topic at hand, and he'll be off again!
And now Nate is gone :((
Medieval knight- "Nothing can hurt me with this armor on!"
Mercenary with bec de corbin- "Lol!"
A certain Ballista 5 miles away:
Hon hon hon!
@@ioanluke3220 ballista have never had that sort of range, although a modern one using prefab parts, modern metallurgy, springs and a compound bow system could be very impressive a cannon or howitzer would still out perform it not to mention missiles. Modern main battle tanks don't have that range with their main gun either usually engagingtargets betwee 2 and 3 miles. Half a kilometer or 500 yards on the other hand is do able with trebuchet and late medieval ballista.
the bec: "i´m the destroyer"
Nate: "hold my beer"
That is a pretty poor quality breast plate.
Even if the Corbin couldn't get through the carbon fiber armor, the person would most likely have internal trauma (ie. broken bones).
Absolutely. You definitely would not want to get hit by that thing regardless of what kind of armor you had on.
@@TerryProtheroas the good doktor once siad, "simply avoid taking damage
Yeah the vibrations of a smashing weapon can cause massive damage even if an armor piece looks relatively undented.
It's one reason why they avoid using those kind of weapons in sparring. You can break an arm blocking a flail strike using a decent shield for example.
Awesome Shad
The bec de corbin has become a stand out among Shad's weapons and rightly so.
It is the most powerful weapon
@@Dungeonexpert7 O for sure.
"We don't have to hold back anymore." 🤣😂
Q) What did you get with the Bec?
A) All of it. ALL.
Q) Then what does it take to stop the Bec?
A) A tank... (probably)
. Not if you go for the tracks.
That swing is going to hurt after you hit explosive reactive armor
Jesus, forget swords, forget spears, forget axes. I wanna rock a war hammer in my roleplaying from now on
Facts
It kinda is a spear
Plus two other things.
Which it truly a winning formula.
Personally I'm very much Polaxe gang.
My DM made a homebrew Bec for our game for my Paladin. It;s amazing.
remember though, swords are great for their ability to be sheathed and unsheathed very quickly, which makes them excellent for self defense whereas it is not as easy to be carrying around a war hammer all the time
(Me constantly trying to make a warrior priest of Sigmar)
"Gods I was strong then, caved in his breast plate, probably broke every rib he had."

Tyranth for Robert Baratheon in the inevitable Robert's Rebellion prequel series.
I love Shad, but Tyranth and Nate play so well off each other's personality that it makes for such an enjoyable watch. I'm really overjoyed that you guys are able to continue pumping out videos as I love this era of content, and everyone there does such a great job bringing it to life in the 21th century. Cheers mates!
I think Boromir has about had it. I imagine he's probably a wee bit ripe at this point too, lol. Poor guy.
What about the REAL test, though? Can it pierce a Nokia phone?
Hey now, do you want them to break the Bec again?
the final boss
Bend will be a 360 degrees
Not gonna lie, I was happy when I got the Shadiverity notification, but then I saw the Bec De Corbin and oh boy!
Man I REALLY want a sci-fi game to have a character with a high tech Bec De Corbin. Imagine what you could do with that, it could be a combined, spear, 2 handed war pick, and a light construct hammer, and let you swap between all 3 with the same weapons. Heck maybe all 3 could be energy constructs and you could even let the spike fire energy. It could be the main weapon of a elite militaristic nation.
That sounds like it could be in the Dune Extended Universe or something.
Uh, you know you just described what the Bec is, when you listed those weapons, right? It already is a spear, two-handed pick, and hammer.
The Warhammer 40k Custodes already have a Bec that can shoot. It's called the Guardian Spear. I'm not into 40k, but I DO want to steal the idea for a Pathfinder character...
@@matohibiki yeah I know, but what I have in mind is what Initially looks like a regular staff with a square top and a pointed end, but however the user holds it energy constructs form from the square top to take it's shape, almost like how the energy sword from halo is before it's activated.
@@Coyotebriggs If you're making the business end of the weapon out of energy, then the shape doesn't really matter a whole lot, does it? At that point it's basically an aesthetic choice.
Picture a warhammer that takes shot gun shells and fires on impact.
If Chivalry 2 has taught me anything about weapons, polehammers are pretty good even the 1 handed version.
i suck so bad at chivalry 2 but it's so addictive and fun to play
It's just "warhammer". A one-handed version is a "horseman's hammer".
@@Anonymiadlol, the best is always what we suck at.
Relearning war the medieval way.
@@skepticalbadgerWar hammer implies those more two ish foot long ones.
The bec is most definitely a polearm.
You wouldn't call a Polaxe a "Battle Axe" now would you?
the sound of of the layers cracking from the beak is so raw
Bec De Corbin is king!!!🔥🔥🔥
'tecnicly' You didn't broke the armour, You broke everything...
On seeing the weapon used to penetrate, the opponent is immobile and they're incredibly open. Big open baseball swings.
I think worth a test would be frontal attacks. When they do the test to extra the Bec, he pretty much throws the Doll directly behind him into his allies. Then he has recovery time where he is open and the Doll's ally or more could strike. In a formation it would be hard to get those horizontal swings.
So I would like to see these horizontal baseball swings where the Doll's "Side" is the target, as that should reduce the flat, unangled surfaces. Also coming from the sides also brings arms in as a factor. The hit will still cripple a man, but less fatal.
Bec test #2: Overhead vs Helmets.
His name is Boromir, sir.
I feel like both piercing and crunching someone's arm (especially the dominant one) is pretty much just as good as a fatal hit.
Like what are you gonna do with a basically dead arm to stop them from just... Swinging again.
@@1stCallipostle well it's fine if you take out one guy in combat, but if you're so open you die as well. There could be two or three guys now with the same weapon on the other side.
Again, they attack from an angle to get a full swing, discount having to dedend or multiple opponents. If you do kill a guy a in a single swing, but die as a result the weapon wouldn't have been used. My claim is they're missing something
@@Pangora2 if you’re fighting 3 other people in a standard medieval duel you’re typically considered dead already, regardless of the weapon choice.
@@dwaynethart6527 no, it's because of you do a giant baseball swing your allies can't be near you. This is why spears reign
Keep on going warriors,I’m on your side!
6:29 that's dead center, that's brutal holy crap
Liked the introduction of the Shadlands channel. I just wonder how hard it was to say "time" instead of "attention span" 😂
after learning about it, from an earlier vid the Bec De Corbin became one of my favorite Medieval weapons. it's just so versatile
The 3 different weapons at the end of a stick formula is a winner.
You just have to pick which 2 you want out of Beak, Axe, and Hammer. Every combo is good.
Judging from the thumbnail, it's another lightsaber video.
He needs new thumbnail formats. It's tired
@@gslinger19 I love the content, but that thumbnail was tired the first time it was used, frankly.
@@Armored_Muskrat Yeah, it seems like most of them is him making a version of that face. Which honestly makes me not want to watch the video. I do like his content often but I pass a lot of videos by because I find it annoying.
I love you guys. And thank you for the info. I visited a castle recently and was explaining to my mum about the bec. One of the ladies that worked there was listening in too. Only knew about it because of you guys, so thank you for teaching me so much about the past.
I love the back and forth competition, challenges, and attempts at "gentlemanly" trying to leverage their way in taking turns for what they want to do.
I will say though, I think Nate needs to work on the timing of his swing and Tyranth on stepping in with his thrusts, include the attack with a full step (though maybe these guys know this). Still, that the beak of the weapon could sail through armor without 100% proper technique is very impressive.
True, it's devastating, but the most powerful blow comes from attacking sideways, exposing your flank. In a battle, you would need protection on that side, or you will go down too.
Thanks, Tyranth. Now I'll never be able to look at Nate the same ever again. WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN HIS SWAMP, TYRANTH!?!?!?!?
Watching the wrecking crew destroy the chest plate, "can-operner" comes to mind.
Nothing quite so satisfying as breaking stuff
The crow beak ends fights quickly.
It’s like a giant can opener.
That armor broke quicker than Corporate medias credibility post 2016.
The Bec has quickly become one of my favourite medieval weapons thanks to your use of it in videos
It's so powerful with so little effort and it doesn't even look like much more than a slightly altered spear or axe to someone who doesn't know much about medieval weapons
Boromir is a trooper!
Love these kinds of videos!.. or just any video from Shadiversity tbh.
just as a bench mark, before e begin, this thing still just goes straight through Boromir,.. Epic way to start a video!
For the average soldier at that time, I guess the length of it is about perfect, but a taller soldier with longer arms that is more common today, could for sure benefit from it being 50cm longer.
Those 50cm will give more power and reach when wanted/needed.
It would make a very nasty weapon even nastier.
To bad the Vikings didn't invent and made this weapon at their time and used it to take all of Great Britain and crushed the Normans when they tried to take England.
I am sure Great Britain and much of the world would have been better off if that happened 😁
Armor wasn't nearly so developed yet.
I imagine it unfortunately wouldn't have fared too much better than the dane axe at splitting unarmored to lightly armored targets
I had the middle of the video on without seeing it. Im choking giggles with the double meaning. Im glad you had much pleasure from the beek spike and hammer 😂
A big part of the initial swing's success is that, if you look back at the footage around 12:25, the point hit right on the arrow dent.
I feel like these two need to be supervised. They also have a lot more little digs at each other, which is pretty funny.
I have a video series Idea. You could have people submit their personal armor/handmade kits for review and rating. Keeping it light hearted and fun
I love you shad, I hope for the turnaround to the right side of monetization because youtube is 100% BS.
Nothing can beat the Bec de Corbin
I'm so glad to see that Tyranth's two-handed grip leads with his left hand. Why? Because I do the same thing even though I'm normally right-hand dominant. It just feels more comfortable to me, more natural.
Yup me too. Cant manage splitting wood without the left leading.
Interestingly I read an opinion once that two handed axes would be used left hand forward to catch the unshielded side. Interesting thought.
Interesting. Do you switch it for spears? (most peaople use dominant hand down on spears and up for heavier polearms)
Well, I guess we can call the BERK the most SAVAGE Medieval weapon. Seriously NOTHING STOPS THIS THING! The only improvement i can think of is putting tiny spikes on the Hammer to make it like a Meat Tenderizer.
That is the most priceless comment. Why am I holding this thing? We got tape!
I'm a simple man. I see a new Shad video, I watch it
I love your content. I hope CZcams gets its head out of that place and restores your ad revenue.
Shadlands is awesome! I love it's more light hearted funny style. It gives the impression you don't feel the need to be all that serious on that channel, and can actually have some fun too ^^ I've absolutely loved it's content so far!
Bec De Corbin is the Emperor of Medieval War.
Another great installment! Bravo gents!
Haha shadiversity is back in my feed, on the same day it's out!! 😁
I think the spike could be used to finish off already downed armored opponent. You could just place the spike on the body and put your feet on the hammer part and apply force through your body weight - just like you would with a shovel. I bet it would go through chain mail easily.
I did a bit of looking up to see what kind of soldiers could be using such a weapon as the bec... well, it was the compagnie of the "Gentilshommes à bec de corbin", in 15th/16th century France... and who were they? The personal guard of the king... makes sense!
One of the best content on CZcams EZ!
Imagine if it was a Fantasy setting and you made a "Bec DeCorbin" out of Mithril or other Magical Super Metal.
I think I know why the beak didn't go through the plate the 2nd time. It looked like the 2nd hit was on the edge of one of the plate layers, which might have been stronger, and it also likely had the upper layer of plate behind it since it was likely an overlapping seam. The 1st hit was far enough away from that seam that you only had to penetrate 1 layer of plate. Love the videos guys. Wish I could have been there. Maybe someday.
So Boromir is sooo old he has hanging "CHESTICLES"!!! old before his time poor Boromir. lol.
Hello from midnight time in the UK
This is the sort of content that brought me to the channel years ago. Welcome, back to your roots!
A full bec de corbin video. Hell yeah.
Slow motion tips:
There's a Playback Speed setting on the Settings cog wheel where you can slow the video down to 0.25
You can also go frame-by-frame while the video is paused using the , and . keys.
Good ol' medieval weapon testing
That poor mannequin is barely recognizable after all it endured XD
Maybe the real Bec De Corbin is the friends we made along the way
Awesome stuff guys
Good on you for advertising the Shadlands, I wasn't even aware of it's existence until now! Subbed to it right away as I love your stuff but sometimes after a long day of work I just don't have the energy to watch a long educational video so easier to digest cuts are a delight to see!
It’s all about the Bec
"Buster" is BUSTED!
Nate swung at the chainmail like Charles Barkley swings a golf club.
Great video lads! Been looking forward to this one for a long time!
Great video, guys!
Shadivertsity in 3 lines:
1. Nunchucks are not weapons,
2. Weapons don't just penetrate armor,
3. But the Bec De Corbin does.
I love all your channels so far very awesome guys
That was BEAUTIFUL! Now I really want a bec....
Lucerne…. one of my favorite weapons to collect souls with.
0:30
it is not a lack of time, it is simply a lack of attention span.
It is my believe that this was the weapon Robert Baratheon used to kill Rhaegar Targaryen. The last thing Rhaegar said was "WAIT!" It didn't pierce the arbor but dented the armor crushing Rhaegar underneath and leaving him to drown in the Trident River. Amazing weapon.
. Fantasy has magic arrows, blessed swords, cursed clubs, super spears, and spiky knife things. The Real World, we have the Bec De Corbin. Because the Bec doesn't Need magic to aid in devastation.
The closest I've ever got to something like that is going at a tree stump with a pick-axe. So you know something that is basically the weapon version of it is no joke. It's going to go through stuff.
18:03
Funnily enough it's the opposite for me. I would want it to be even longer. Like a polehammer.
Beautiful.... Love the destruction.... For science!! 😁
Great video
About the chain mail;
I would *LOVE* to see the Bec go up against the *Chain* mail CodysLab made.
He made chain mail, from real chains.
And it is *Heavy!*
"If you can't hurt them with the Bec... well, the Beak, same thing... If you can't hurt them with that, chances are they're invulnerable"
I love ALL Shadiversity videos!!!! ❤
17:43 And if you can't hurt them with the Bec… hit them again.
Glad you got it repaired and it's as good as ever.
SHAD HAVE YOU DONE DESERT ARMOUR AND WEAPONS 😃
Once again the Bec breaks.....
*checks notes*
....Everything it touches!
I love this channel!
Jesus, that early demonstration hitting Boromir with no armour on, it's _very_ obvious just how little effort Nate is putting into it, and it still goes _all_ the way in.
Knights march forward in the line.
Me? "Oh you are Bec for more, monsieur?"
Very good work guys😎👍
That plug for your other channel sure didn't cut to the chase and get straight to the point.
Simple blunt force trauma test: Watermelon wearing all those layers vs Bec De Corbin
"Just the tip" that's funny 😁
This looks like a lot of fun.
Ah the Bec, Big Stick Energy with a lot of options. I think the Pole Axe is shorter but if space is a real issue you still have the stabby point.
While I didn't get a Bec De Corbin I did pick up a really cheap Warhammer for $40 from Tractor supply company here in the US. I plan on doing some testing with it at a later date.
