  • “Horizon Field Singapore” (2021) is a work by the internationally renowned British sculptor Antony Gormley, and was commissioned by the Gallery for the fifth instalment of the Ng Teng Fong Roof Garden Commission. Inviting visitors to walk through a vast matrix of aluminium rings, the work enables our bodies to become part of the work. Through its participatory nature, the work continues Gormley’s decades-long investigations into how humanity relates to nature and the cosmos. The commission is complemented by three of Gormley’s earlier sculptures that are placed in different spaces in the Gallery. Together, they trace four decades of Gormley’s practice and his investigations into the human body.
In this dialogue with the artist and Gallery Director Eugene Tan, delve into the collaborative process behind the creation of this site-specific installation at the height of Covid-19 pandemic and explore the conceptual underpinnings that ground Gormley’s expansive practice.
This talk took place at National Gallery Singapore on 26 July 2022.
