- Artist Charles Ray delivers the first in a series of lectures, Thoughts on Sculpture, at the Menil. Ray will consider themes like subject matter as a formal element; sculpture with holes; and bronze and the work of Rodin, Degas, and Matisse. The series offers a rare opportunity to hear from a contemporary artist who himself has made significant and innovative contributions to the field. Nineteen of Ray’s sculptures are on view at the Art Institute of Chicago in Charles Ray: Sculpture 1997-2014, co-organized with Kunstmuseum Basel. Two additional lectures will occur in the spring.
Public Program of the Menil Collection. Friday, October 23, 2015.
To whomever runs this channel, I express my sincerest thanks, and extend a proper request that the remaining lectures please be uploaded once they occur. Or before, if possible.
Amazing lecture. Thanks.
I love this guy
I think it was Rodin who said something like, "Sculpture is the art of the hole and the lump."
I wonder who went around weighing all the electrons?
❤❤❤❤
This is one of many complex reasons why I believe in God. 20:28 Existing in a dimension where the Creator can see us, but we cannot see him.
53:59. the artist name anyone?
Lee Bontecou , she's amazing
I DO NOT LIKE THE WAY HE DEALS WITH TOOLS AND MATERIALS BUT I LIKE VERY MUCH SOME OF THE RESULTS
Errol Flynn, Errol Morris, Ray Charles, Charles Ray - what’s the difference? 😁
Lol, yes! That one did confuse me. Nevertheless, a delightful mix up from the nutty professor. His show at the Met is insane.
Ummm, I am pretty sure those are Holes...
its a hole, its not a hole. Word salad, semantics, going in circles...
