    I love the quietness of the electric propulsion system. A plane like this could be a real hit in the European 120kg (Part 103) class. In densely populated Europe, noise levels are a big factor and lead to many restrictions in Sport aviation.

    Congrats for you electric goat. I love your project.
    Your motor is 45 kw but you used only 4 to 6 kw. Have you tried full power with which result ?
    You emboarded 2kw/h pack. It lasted 10min, you might might need 10kw to stay flat ?

    • @ferrerdallas
      @ferrerdallas  Před 5 lety +1

      Motor failed during second 8Kw test. currently working with manufacturer to resolve the issue. As a glider I only need 10 min power time, so I am using 6 * 6S @ 8A battery pack = 1200KWh at 30C

    Mr. Ferrer,
    I too have a Goat project and I am planning to use two Turnigy 150cc motors.
    Would you please share the details of the motor fixing to the cabanes. That seems very sturdy. If so, multiple thanks!

    • @ferrerdallas
      @ferrerdallas  Před 5 lety

      The motor mount is fairly simple, it is made of to thick aluminum walls that get attached to the 4 vertical tubes of the cabana. When I get some time, I will post some pictures on my blog. It required an extension on the bottom of the cabana to allow for a bigger prop.

    Ok, whats with the rope on the goat? A little short on takoff power? 50amp cruise isnt much, i have a 50 amp speed controller on my 6lb rc plane and its on the limit at full throttle. Vid was posted 2 years ago, battery and motor technology seems to advance on almost a daily basis

    • @ferrerdallas
      @ferrerdallas  Před 3 lety

      We use the goat as a glider. The E power system is there just as a sustainer to help us get out of trouble out when lift dies out. We use a minimum set of batteries (because of weight) capable of providing about just 8 minutes of power, using that for take of would be a waste, when we can perfectly use a tow rope to do so. As for the E-system, The controller I use is rated to 300A, the Chinese motor (cheap!) crapped out a few flights later. (It did helped me a lot to learn about E-systems for a minimum investment) I have not yet found a (good/cheap) new motor to replace it.

    I’ve always wanted to build the goat glider; but have wanted to put an engine or two small light weight engines on it. Do you think this airframe could handle that?

    • @ferrerdallas
      @ferrerdallas  Před 4 lety

      Yes, there are several GOAT's with engines, but adding any weight reduces the performance as a glider..

      Alex Ferrer makes sense; I was looking at the goat4 would there be an advantage to having actual struts vs wire support? Can’t find much info on the differences between the versions.
