- On September 24th, 2022, this channel hit 500 subscribers. I'm so grateful to all of you who watch my videos, and so excited to keep making more and getting better as I go. I also got a new electric violin, and I thought unboxing it would be a perfect way to celebrate this milestone. Thank you for being here!

Cool Violin! I thought it sounded great. :) I know you'll have fun playing and seeing what more you can do with it. I look forward to move videos!

Sounds incredible!
Thank you! I’m just at the beginning of figuring out what it can do!
Thanks for the video! I would highly recommend changing the video title and description to actually include the make and model of the the violin so it pops up on the search algorithms more frequently ❤️❤️
That’s a good idea I didn’t think of that! Thanks for watching 😊

Buy yourself an EQ pedal, cut the mids so it doesn’t sound like a duck, emphasise the high end slightly, and experiment with boosting the low end (results may vary) pair it with a nice reverb pedal (I’d recommend Hall of Fame). Also keep in mind that it doesn’t need to sound like a traditional instrument (cause it isn’t.) Piezo pickups are nutritiously crap sounding on violins, and I’m personally not a fan. But if you set your expectations and think of it as an entirely different instrument rather than a loud violin, you’ll enjoy it a lot more. 🫡
Fair enough, thanks for the great pointers! I’m realizing that while I do want to think of it as a different instrument and explore those exciting other sound worlds, I’m struggling more than I thought I would at finding sounds I like. I suppose my very deep connection to the organic-ness of how my bow draws nuances out of an acoustic violin is more of a hump to get over than I thought it would be. But I’m willing to be patient and I’ll definitely keep experimenting 😊
@@andrewstump6138 I know what you mean! It’s very different as a base to work from, and it’s easy to feel like it’s just not quite right. All the tone work you put into classical playing goes out the window. And it’s a shame because it makes up so much of our performance training as classical musicians. I would highly recommend reverb in the very least, but if you’re not happy with the sound at the end of the day you should consider trying a body pickup on your regular instrument like ‘The Band’ which sounds far more natural, or exploring semi hollow body electric instruments which give you a better response. Check out Paul Davies violins from Australia. Happy playing dude!
