Experience Demon Drop a freefall Intamin thrill ride witha height of 131FT, Vertical drop of 60FT, freefall 2.9 Seconds, & total descent 99FT at Dorney Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Demon Drop debuted at Cedar Point in 1983. It was very popular as it was located at the very front of the park. In 2005, rumors started of the ride being relocated or dismantled when the ride was put up for sale. On October 21, 2009, Cedar Point officials announced that Demon Drop would be moved to its sister park, Knott's Berry Farm, for the 2010 season.[1] In November, fans of Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom spotted pieces similar to Demon Drop at its park in Pennsylvania. On December 2, 2009, it was announced that Demon Drop would not be relocated to Knott's Berry Farm. Instead, it would be relocated to Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom. It officially opened at Dorney Park on July 2, 2010.

I was at dorney last Sunday for the first time ever, and I ride this four times. I hadn’t seen a first generation freefall ride since 2007, and I honestly thought I might never get to ride one again. I’m glad I got a chance to go on this while it’s still in operation. It’s the only one left in the U.S.

Intamin should make an updated version of this. I'm a big fan of the concept and most of the issues stem from it just being really old. They could make a really sick one of these at like 200 ft.
I absolutely agree. This is so different from a normal drop tower of rising and falling of any kind, or the air powered ones that bounce up and down. It's almost like a roller coaster and free-fall in one. I rode the one at Six Flags Great Adventure up until it was removed. Still think it was one of the most terrifying rides with the way it was designed, being pushed out like that at the top, and even the lift is creepy. I think it'd be worth giving it a shot to see if anyone would want to buy a brand new version if they could make them bigger to fit the general public and enthusiasts needs, despite being 131 feet being more than enough to get fear induced on this thing tbh.

I think that's the ride to get the best view of everything. At 1:45 you can see so many rides! You can see Dominator, Possessed, Steel Force, Stinger, the Ferris Wheel, and probably a little more.

Wish there were more of these. I loved the one at Six Flags GA. It's something totally different, just because it's a "freefall" ride idk why parks treated these to be junk or outdated. When things like much taller straight no-track towers or the S&S space shot (latter is actually my fav the big ones, not the point), they just continued to dissapear. I hope i can get to Dorney to ride this, hopefully they will keep it for many years to come.
it was cedar points but they had power tower so they had 3 kinds of drop towers
this ride scares me too much. i find this ride scarier then zumanjaro drop of doom for some reason
Mac Daddy I went on it alone and as soon as I went down I got lifted up my seat but the safety belt stopped it thankfully

I loved this ride much more than the modern drop towers it has a better free fall to it

I miss that ride 🥰 I felt the butterflies in my chest when it hit the top and slid forward. They're working on a new idea for the locals where the twister used to be. I hope it's a remake

Michelle nicolet, the power tower thing is dominator, red one is steel force, and wicked twister like one is possessed. "Dorsey Park" is located in Allentown PA and is owned by cedar fair, who also own cedar point. That's why the rides seem so similar. Also, demon drop at former was originally located at CP but was moved to dorney a few years back

Deathbyillusion I have 3 vids on my channel. Just search the magnifying glass icon on my channel for Demon Drop. I actually did shoot it from the main lot for part of it : I should've said that : I shot it with a $1k SONY TRV-30 MiniDV back in the day. An awesome camera with great sound. The tape mechanism literally wore out I used it so much for 4 channels and other stuff. It would have cost $500 to repair. When youtube switched their video to HD the video lost something in the translation and doens't look as good as it used to for whatever reason. Still worth checking out. My friends were one of the last riders.

I rode Mr. Hyde's nasty fall at geauga lake, and didn't like it. The shoulder harness hutted my neck for weeks. I don't mess with Demon Drop when I was at Dorney Park, I stick with Possessed coaster less painful and Dominator is better, as well as Power Tower. Drop Tower at Kings Island is the best.

im not sure about dorney park because i never even heard of it but i do know for a fact that was at cedar point not "Dorney Park"... that red coaster is Magnum XL 200, the Power Tower and if you look close enough when they go to the top of the Demon Drop you can see the Wicked Twister. unless... that really is "dorney park" and they are just trying to be cedar point and take their thunder.. Americas Roller Coast! Ride On! lol(:

Cedar Point took Demon Drop down at the end of 2009 and sent it to Dorney.

Long hair got caught as the ride fell down, I believe my parents were there that day. Pulled her scalp right off, either she died there or on the way to the hospital.

Ik this was posted so long ago but I just had to say...I went on it today with my mom and my sister. (I don't know how she was so brave to go up there when shes afraid of hight's..) And this is my mom's account. Anyways that not the point..Like I was gonna say is when we fell It felt like we were in the air for a couple of seconds. And for me...I only screamed once but it wasn't long. It was like a little scream :/ (Idk what else to say..) from my POV I just closed my eyes once we were all the way up..and when we fell It felt like my body was forcing my skin to go down... Well I'm gonna stop here! Bye Bye~
Edit: Also I didn't close my eyes for the hole hide I opened them :3 It felt like a minute while dropping down.
