Looking great. Your interior color is giving us some great ideas for our ‘67. The installation tips will help a lot thanks.
It has been a nice custom touch that i have grown to like. Really want to see it all together
The column / wheel, and dash came out really nice👍 😊JR in Ontario, Canada
Hello JR, seems to be a lot of first Gen. Birds in Canada, must have been very popular or maybe just had a better life. Thanks for watching!
Jon, that’s much gooder! That horn button turned out awesome, the bird emblem just stands out, eye catching. My first experience with Firebirds was with a test driving 67 painted a similar color in 1982 ( I was in high school) I wanted it bad , dad vetoed it. I ended buying a project 69 a few months later for $75 bucks. I got my bird!
Wow $75 for a bird that’s a bargain
Looking very good , thanks for explaining all about the steering wheel and steering column install great information
Anytime just helpful tips to wrestle that thing in there by yourself and surprised
Myself how well it went in too
Looks Awesome and great work. Thank you for explaining this fo those of us that tore our cars apart 20 years ago lol. Looking forward to seeing the Great Pumpkin on the road.
Lol. I am just as guilty my high school car got gutted 20 years ago almost to the day and need to get it back together
Great video buddy, and I think white with the bronze is going to POP!!!
It’s a great combination
That steering wheel looks amazing! It will really pop with white interior too.
Thanks! Thinking about painting the car red 😉
@@VinylVillageGarage Solar Red on the outside with Autumn Bronze accent? No way Jose!
@@wmorri003 lol you are right. Just having some fun. The outside will be autumn bronze.
Morning Jon.
Summers knocking on the door.
It was 80 in North West Michigan yesterday.
The weather has been great here too. Great painting weather.
Love your stuff. Very informative! Now I know why my turn signal never worked. Wasn’t installed right. I’m about to replace my whole column in a few days, so thanks for this. 👍
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching too
Fantastic John!!👍🏽
It’s coming together nicely
Turned out great jon😎
Thanks I really like the looks of it.
Good morning John! I just purchased a 68' Firebird 400 Convertible last weekend. The car was purchase from the original owner and from what I can tell is a 99% original car (numbers matching). With that being said, its going to need quite a bit of love to get her to my level of refinement! I have been watching your videos and appreciate all the great information. The steering wheel seems to have been replaced with an older version, was looing for some help on identifying the stock one. If you ever have that particular part and fitment in question, reach out and I can snap a picture for you....Gary Aslin
68 400 convertible time capsule is very nice!! Take lots of pictures of everything even the hardware that holds fuel lines and brake lines. You would have a following on Facebook bird pages loving that info including myself. Congrats on your find and I would love to see and have pictures of it as well. Thanks Gary for sharing
Looks good, hope you got that part I sent and it was usable.
Thanks that steering wheel has a lot of time invested in it, would have been much easier to buy a wood grain wheel, but something about the original wheel just makes it worth it.
I'm really curious to see the White top and interior - my convertible is a white white but on a white car. The autumn bronze with white should be a great combination. Great work as always John!
Thanks buddy. I am very excited to see this car back in its original color and shined up.
Looks great! Love your videos - helping me avoid a lot of mistakes as I'm doing my first rebuild of a 67 GTO.
I really like the 1967 GTO, beautiful lines and just looks fantastic from any angle. Glad to hear what I am doing is helping bring it back. That’s awesome
Honestly mostly look forward to seeing the interior done
I will be doing the seats soon, the sunshine and heat helps stretch the vinyl into shape.
Thats interesting, they must have used the tab coming out the side for a shifter lockout in the 2nd gens. my 79 is a 4 spd floor shift and it has the tab, and also the key in the column.
Yes 1969 was the first year for ignition lock in columns and even floor shift cars had that linkage to lock out the transmission.
That wheel looks sexy great job brother 😊
I really like the color
looks fantastic Jon. I made the mistake of installing my firewall pad before installing my steering column in my 69 Camaro. No fun. lol.
where is firebird fest being held??
StLouis may 18th. Hoping for good weather this year.
Is there a link to the Firebird Fest, is the event you’re referring to in St Louis? I find lots of firebird events when I google it. Thanks!
Yes I can help with that. www.firebirdfest.com/
What is the total length of the column?
You know I don’t actually know. I don’t have a 67-68 bird apart to check for either unfortunately
Do you know what the size of your brake booster is? I am looking at the Right Stuff kits and I am concerned about it fitting. I have manual brakes that I want to convert to power but there isn't that much space there. Thanks.
It’s what i call the 11” booster. This car is factory engine mounts and valve covers. Plenty of clearance.
@@VinylVillageGarage It looks like the clutch rod that is just below the master cylinder might get in the way. I forget if your car is auto or manual. Thanks.
@@stevenpringle7813 I also have my 1969 coupe with 11” booster and manual trans with Z-bar. All clears fine.
@@VinylVillageGarage Well I could have just looked at your video again to see that you had a manual. Duh. Good to know that you have the stock z-bar as well. Thanks a lot for the information. I hate ordering parts and not being confident that they will fit. I want to make a pro-touring car out of my other shell. This is where I will run into all sorts of problems with things fitting. I think I will need to pick one vendor for all the suspension parts and then leverage their experience with building cars with the same setup and buy or source the other parts from them as well. I wish there was someone who made a whole kit car that was exactly how I wanted it that had an accompanying parts list so I can buy the parts once with confidence.
@@stevenpringle7813 it’s definitely good to have a plan, you are doing your homework work before you buy and glad to help so ask away anytime.
