- Where the Crawdads Sing is a movie that happened. Oh, and crawdads don't actually sing, FYI. Here are the movie's sins...
Thursday: Animated adventure sins from the 20-teens.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we count next?

Man, that final sin was glorious. You can feel the anger of whoever wrote it and Jeremy conveyed it perfectly.
At this point I think Jeremy WAS the one who wrote it.
I haven't enjoyed Jeremy's anger this much since Fallen Kingdom. It was glorious. SNL digital parody had me howling
Agreed, Jeremy's anger over the cop out twist ending felt genuine, and he was probably the one who wrote the sin.
Jeremy has unleashed his inner angry video game nerd by the end 😂
I actually took notes. That is omega-level creative profanity.
Interesting that the author of the book Where the Crawdads Sing, her husband, and her husband's brother, are all still (since 1996) wanted for questioning by the Zambian government, in connection with the murder of a poacher. She says she wasn't involved. A bit strange, that someone wanted in questioning for a murder is now a bestselling author of a novel about getting away with murder...fun stuff. Anyway, loved that last sin, man. What a work of art.
and her son too! And dont forget they were kicked out of Botswana by the government for their treatment of local people!
Its amazing to me that she can posture herself the way Kaya does: a natural creature forced to defend itself with violence when she literally went to ither countries and perpetrated it
@@kerryonmywaywardson9805 If a character was written the way you just described, she would be considered evil! How fortunate that person is not real! 👀
@@kerryonmywaywardson9805 and it's the fact that killing a poacher would 100% go along with this theme lol
@Dawn 1,000% agree 😁
Kind of like author Anne Perry, aka Juliette Hulme, that murdered Honorah Riper and went on to have a successful writing career after only serving five years in prison.
I just want to know how she's managing to have amazing, nonfrizzy hair while living in the middle of the MARSH. Her hair is humidity proof
From the makers of Plot Armor and Perfect Next Day Makeup, we give you Helmet Hair - never a lock out of place, and can stand up to swamp frizz!
her mom’s brush is still in the bedroom. she uses that
@@hobi143 do you not know how any hair besides straight works? even people with frizzy straight hair need more than just a brush to tame it. and that's with using water to wash it that's not from a marsh. now this is obviously a cottagecore fantasy where that logic would probably be used, but she looked remarkably clean and put-together at all times for someone who doesn't have the same means or necessity as "modern" folk
@@washedbluef*cking hell, you took that comment so seriously you decided to write an entire dissertation as a response 🙄
That final sin was a magnificent, what in the disney channel fuck moment. I seriously applaud the effort put into the writing and delivery. just... magical!
Ya see, down in the south, the animals all do random things that help us explain the plot in ridiculous ways.
"Go to the place where the squirrels play cards at high noon. Look for me there."
Give them something incredibly vague like "head on down to where the ants get after sticky shit left on the ground"
But, which game? Where I live they play poker on the east end of town, bridge on the west, gin rummy on the north, cribbage in the south and UNO in the town square. And when a squirrel has a draw 4 wild card played on him, you do NOT want to be around.
@@katymvt We have so many squirrels up here in Toronto I kinda believe you.
I went there and you stood me up! WTF?!?!
@@katymvt All I know is that any animal with hands has the ability to play cards...
I’m so glad you pointed out the Chase and Tate thing because I kept getting confused on which one was which.
Agree...
also, that's racist
If you think thats confusing you should try watching some war movies. All the guys tend to look the same. White guy with a buzz cut. And I say that as a white guy with a buzz cut
yeah, when I originally watched the movie I was always confused which guy is which lol.
@@2eachaccording Lol. 😂
@@et3182 also they are wearing the same uniform and helmet which does not help things
That last sin was single-handedly the best sin we’ve ever had the pleasure to witness here on Cinemasins… 🤣🤣
My favorite is still when the fast and furious jumped the sub and the sin counter blew up and died lmao
I am expecting that s4ithead birdman be again a movie a$$ki$$er and say WHY DIDN'T YOU READ THE BOOK. F4K BIRDMAN
My favorite is the Kung Fu Panda one where Oogway gets the f*ck outta dodge
@@michaelmclaren1333your comment made go watch that. I have seen any of them since like the 4th one so I was laughing hard af 🤣
I’m surprised you didn’t sin Kya’s managing to evade CPS until she was 18
@Dawn Your grandma's a badass
nah it was a different time 60 years ago, that could happen for sure
17:38 - Sometimes I really wish those Cinemasins guys would just tell us how they feel about a movie instead of beating around the bush like this.
Fr
Yeah, it gets old fast.
"I'm pretty sure you can make Scripture say anything if you try hard enough." the accuracy
The richness of that accuracy.
@@lizardog The accuracy of the richness of that accuracy!
The richness of Christopher Hitchens laughing in his grave.
I'm pretty sure that was in the Bible.
"Now, I'm not saying Jezebel's easy, but before she moved to Sodom, it was known for its pottery!" Krusty the clown
That last one, though. Part of the reason why I watch Cinema Sins.
“Boiled Dirt.”
*Inner southerner triggered*
My feelings exactly
Yes southerners, we must rise up-
Wait, this how the civil war started.
I watched this movie in a 9 hour flight, it took me like 4 hours to finish because I kept falling asleep
I liked the movie. Sure it was slow in some parts but the life of someone from approximately 8 years old to a 24/28 year old? It's gonna take a while.
Lol you still managed to finish it! I couldn’t.. I ended up switching to another movie on my flight!
My girlfriend took me to see it in theaters with her and I fell asleep in the first half hour
I had the same problem on a 15 hour bus ride! It took forever for me to finish this movie.
LOL, same!
Nothing like committing murder, getting away with it, writing a book about someone committing murder and getting away with it, it becoming a best seller and then becoming a movie that makes millions of dollars. God bless America.
hardly murder
this was so great...that RANT at the end
plus I bristled so much about how easily she gets published. I couldn't get past it...I just kept thinking, even in the '60s... wouldn't that beautiful book just end up molding in the slush pile?
YES. yes it would.
what happens in the book is she sends her drawings to the local naturalist society/observatory place and they're like "hey, we want to make a book about the nature in this area and since nobody really knows anything about it besides you, we want to use your drawings, we know someone at this publishing company" and there are a bunch of meetings before it actually gets published. it probably would end up as a "coffee table/sit on the bookshelf to look cool" book because it's so pretty, and who doesn't love pretty books that make them look smart?
Skeeter/Eugenia from The Help has entered the chat.😂
That final sin was so good, I had to share it with my friend even without the full context. Well done, sir. xD
I was more interested in why her siblings left her so coldly when she was so precious… Were they all psychopaths?
As someone reconnecting with an entire family of half siblings at 39, not all of us HAVE a choice in leaving, coldly or otherwise. The real hard part of it is I never knew them, so it's not like I wanted not to know them, but they didn't know that and I'm the oldest, so correct or not I FEEL like I abandoned them, because I wasn't there as a big brother, so what if I knew or not. I know that's not fair to me or anyone, but always keep in mind these are FEELINGS, they just ARE, they don't have to be 'correct' or make sense.
We were kids, NONE of that was any of our faults.
Just like here, they were children, it's none of THEIR faults, it's solely the fault of the adults around and responsible for them. EVERY kid needs to know that, YOU ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE THINGS YOUR PARENTS DO OR DID. You have to move past that, it's in the past and you can't control it. You CAN control what you do with that past, with that experience, how you react to it. And if you can't care for yourself and be responsible for yourself, you can't be expected to do so for others.
Her siblings weren't psychopaths, they were PEOPLE. Scared, hurt people.
@@RobertMorgan get outta here, they are literally leaving the home FOR GOOD suitcases in hand without even glancing at their sister or acknowledging her existence in any way, that is WAY over the top. It screams "this happens because I dont know how to write a proper script and move things along in a believable way
I literally cannot keep Tate and Chase apart, since I haven’t seen the movie I have no idea which one died, who assaulted her, and who she ended up with in the end.
Lol it’s pretty straight forward. She killed chase cuz he assaulted her and kept harassing her and she ends up with Tate. But I get it, it’s kinda confusing
Read the book before seeing the movie. :)
@@tarastreasure 🤷🏾♂️ meh
then you're an idiot lmaoo
As much as I hated the many plot holes and chliche this movie was one of the only few slice of life I came across in a while that made me emotional.
I remember when I used to feed crawdads to my pet turtle when I was young, don't ever remember them singing though🐢🐢🐢
If you were getting fed to a turtle, I doubt you would do much singing.
Yeah cause they were screaming 🌝
Yeah cause they were screaming 🌝
@@mackenziehunter4593 that would have to be a very big turtle. Then there's always Gamera.
You're such a crawdad hater, crawdads are known to be very good soprano singers, they are commonly heard singing Mariah Carey songs in the marshes of Louisiana
Your final rant was pure genius!!
This is the closest I will ever get to actually watching this movie… 😅
Even this is too close!
The best part of the last sin for me is that Jeremy makes it plain as day when he loves or hates a movie, and whichever one it is, it's just awesome!
That last sin was extra hilarious. Jeremy is gold. Or should I call him Jodie?
I hated how they casually name dropped Asheville. They acted like it was a short drive away, when in reality it’s a 5+ hour drive from the coast, which probably would have been a longer drive during this time period.
Excellent point! Like pick a town everyone's heard of in NC that isn't so far away. Raleigh? Charlotte?
THANK YOU! I had the same issue with the book. Asheville is at least a 6 hr drive from anywhere on the NC coast. Sheesh!
Plus, not to mention the traffic you'd likely encounter on US 70, and the many "slow down" (speed limits of less than 35 mph) towns they would have to go through just to get to Asheville. 🤦🤷
*"Total swamp girl, but f**kable."*
😂😂😂
Polly Morgan's cinematography in this movie was beautiful
Precisely, the cinematography and Daisy Edgar Jones' performance were the best parts of the film.
@@trinaq Wait? What? You thought her emotionless, soulless performance was a highlight? She was incorrectly cast to begin with. She lives alone in the wild, outdoors her entire life, yet in the movie she is often the palest character. Like she was locked in a basement or maybe wore conservative Amish clothing or something. In the book her skin was so dark that some in the town thought she might be black. This movie did a very poor job representing the book. And the book was merely good, not great. And the cinematography was the best part, sure, but it wasn't spectacular by any means. Far inferior to any "Planet Earth" or "Life" episode, or any nature production narrated by Attenborough really. Shot properly the "marsh" could have been the character that the audience wouldn't want to leave at the end of the movie.
She needed a good lawyer to weasel out of the charges. “Weaseling out of things is important to learn; it's what separates us from the animals … except the weasel.”
Biggest sin with this movie is how often people go to Asheville for supplies. If this fictional town is on the coast, Ashville would be a good 7+ hours away and not at all the best place to go for supplies when there are plenty of larger towns much closer.
I only saw about 15 minutes of this movie, in bits, on my way through to do other things. My favorite thing about the movie is that I only saw about 15 minutes of it.
“HALLELUJAH! HOLY SH*T! Where’s the Tylenol?”
Oh, I just wrote a book and the magic, instant book deal is OUTRAGEOUS.
I love how he called out the birds only sing in the morning bull. I also live in Tennessee and one memorable night a stupid bird kept me awake with its singing. I just about pulled my hair out!
God damn, have we ever seen Jeremy as angry as that last sin?
Definitely. Watch the sins video on Cloud Atlas about the cosmically stupid language choices. Fantastic rant.
Yes. ;) Not many times tho.
I suggest watching the ending sins to escape room if you want to see an angry Jeremy
I love Where the Crawdads Sing, I've been waiting for this
Ditto, I've always been a huge fan of the book, though it received a bit of backlash after the author was accused of covering up a murder.
“It already has the audience on the tropes!”
Perfect.
When I saw this in cinemas I was keeping track of the sins lol
Jeremy is a God damn genius.
Edit: I mean the Cinemasins Jeremy. Not the movie Jeremy.
Jodi?
@@sanadbenali6993
Ha.
I read the book and actually liked it, but have been avoiding the movie, thank you for saving me from having to sit through it
Daisy Edgar Jones is a star on the rise, and she was definitely the best aspect of the movie. Plus, her American accent was very convincing, that's it's easy to forget that she's English.
Big deal, between this & Normal People she was just noticed after whatever that War of the Worlds series was to be cock candy for guys
It was terrible, so obvious she isn't southern
If you haven’t seen it yet, she’s also in Fresh which is well worth a watch!
Yup she's good. Her work in Normal People, Fresh and Where the Crawdads Sing is amazing
This is your masterwork :) Loved it.
Eerily enough, around the same time this film came out, the author, Delia Owens, was accused of covering up a murder back in the 90's.
The story broke in 2010
Wow, that's some great free publicity for an author.
@@thefriesofLockeLamora yes, but then people rediscovered it when the book started becoming more popular because of the impending movie.
Every book is a reflection of an author
The last sin you gave was so deep. I felt every bit of frustration you did.
So after all that shit…she actually did it.
I felt those last 50 sins 😂
Wow I don't think Jeremy was that angry before.
Even when he had to slog through the mire of Pete's Dragon.
the fact this video exists *ding*
Congratulations cinema sin guy on reaching the amazing milestone of the 1000th sin video woo 👏🥳☺️
*Chase found out.*
I read this book in 2020. Couldn't have imagined such a laughable adaptation. This is hilarious 😂
@@michelle2481 it actually developed things and didn’t rush through, was less of a court case murder mystery book tbh. Movie didn’t do the book justice at ALL
@@jackkelly3317 agreed with this take. I read the book first of course.
@@jackkelly3317 the book still didnt make sense though, like all her family leaving her and not giving a shit not even her siblings etc
the movie is good
“Where the crawdads sin.”
17:39 needs to be put on a T-shirt and utilised for contemporary monologues.
The real sin is the lack of knowledge of North Carolina. You can’t just be driving to Asheville for fun from the coast. That’s like eight hours nowadays not to talk about back then. Bigger sin is that this wasn’t even filmed in NC. Love the inclusion of the Piggly Wiggly though.
Never have I felt so much joy watching a movie get sins that it deserves.
Though a lot of the sins are just how much he hated the movie lol, funny af but the movie was pretty good in my opinion, I was surprised.
@@stratsai I dont get people seeing a movie with horrific plot holes and still saying its a good movie. If the plot and characters make no sense, it would have to be some amazing dialogue to make up for it, but this isnt exactly Tarantino level dialogue
@@leob4403 Not everyone searches for deep plot holes while watching. Some people open up and let a movie sway them for entertainment. Me personally, I didn't notice any plot holes that were that sinister.
Loved that final rant! On yer Soapbox!!!
I was so worried you were going to have an aneurism there at the end! Hope you're ok, Mr. Sins.
My golly I was short of breath FOR YOU Jeremy after that last sin. It was delightful!
this last sin is EXACTLY how i felt reading the book
Excellent episode. But I must say, on that final sin, you wasted an opportunity to mention Fried Green Tomatoes.
That was THE BEST ending to any of these videos ever. I am cryingggg 😭
I absolutely loved your review of this, and thanks for showing me the end because I just couldn’t get thru it without you!
'How's the peeping Tom? How's the peeping? Tommy, Tommy, Tommy'. I love how you continually use this wondrous phrase.
I feel like that last sin was worthy of at least 5000 sins, for how it was built up. **ding**
Angry Jeremy is sheer gloriousness
Goddamn, that final sin had me rollin’! Cinemasins peaked with that one…never will be anything better! 😂😂😂
The less is Moor joke … just had to point that out in case anyone missed it hahaha genius
I love this movie. So much. I do love your videos, always funny
I love the comedy. I think people miss this is a modern sort of fairytale - and you ought to treat it like that (with cliché, sure). The questions it poses though are more profound: the why, the how, the systems at play.
So, I normally I watch your channel on a device I cannot make comments on, so that is why I am making them now. First off. I am a die hard movie fan, and even if I do not agree with every comment you make, I still laugh my a** off, and I never get offended. People who do, need to get a grip. I started watching your channel when The Last Jedi came out. Your review made me laugh until I was sick and I constantly quote “f****** fuel in my head all of the time. So, keep it up! I did watch this movie, just before watching your review. I did like some things about it. Including the ending, but oh my stars! Your tail end rant was one of the best things I have ever heard! I love the way you used other swampy/ bayou themed movies as swear words combined with real swear words. I laughed, and laughed, and laughed. I literally told my family that I think this movie’s ending might have broken Jeremy.😂 I still laugh about. Did you write most of it? Or was it a combined effort? Because it was well done. I hope you are not scarred too badly, and will continue to give us your hysterical reviews.
love these so much! Boxtrolls soon?
That final fifty sins had me in tears I was laughing so hard it hurt
Happy 1,000 videos, Cinemasins.
Carnival Shoes and Lindsey Stirling in a single sin?! Amazing!
The fact that everyone left her pissed me off. That mom gets no sympathy from me.
Jodie… I mean, Jeremey, the young looking lawyer sin… Just means we’re all getting older. Pretty soon they’ll all look like teenagers 😬
ha! "jodie"
Yeah, like I went to the dentist for a filling and I recon the dentist and her assistant were both only about twelve. I'm thinking 'What? I'm paying a small fortune for these children to stick pliers and needles in my mouth? Shouldn't they be in a lane somewhere playing hopscotch?'
Best goddamn cursing out of anything I've ever personally witnessed. Well done.
When this video dropped, I realized d'oh; I finally had to stop procrastinating and see _Where the Crawdads Sing,_ so I watched it on Netflix.
When Kya began pointing out spring becoming summer, summer becoming fall, I kind of expected an audio outtake to have the _Monty Python and the Holy Grail_ quote regarding "... gave spring and summer amiss, and went directly into autumn..."
At first I thought Tate was the culprit, then suddenly Jodie... then _Jumpin'_ made himself a suspect!! _Gah!_
My biggest sin was that I felt so mesmerized by the beauty and acting of Daisy that I almost ignored all of the sins committed in the movie
Dude dont be such a simp
oh my god this is your funniest video yet im goddamn weeping. he HATES IT
I think if I want to watch a southern murder movie mystery, I'll just turn on My Cousin Vinnie for the millionth time.
Saw this last summer, and the mystery plot was ok, but it's not a movie that I'd want to watch over and over.
I agree with alot of the other commenters for your final sin, it was the rollickin' rollercoaster of obscenities that came from your piehole 😆😂🤣, gave me such a laugh and made the movie's slow pacing much more bearable. 👍
Man, not even an M. Night twist could bring out this kind of rage from cinemasins
Any video with a Guys N Dolls reference gets an instant like.
love the rant at teh end!
Good lord that last sin sounded like he couldn't hold it in anymore! A true "Thomas had never seen such bullshit before in his life" moment
One of your best!!!
I actually really enjoyed this movie, more than I thought I would
Same, was looking through all the nasty comments and thought I was alone in this
It was a cute movie, the main character really endeared me into liking her. As far fetched as it was, I enjoyed the story and wanted the best for her
@@deecee8601 I 100% agree, I thought the acting was pretty good also, and visually I found the movie very beautiful.
Nowadays feels like we're not allowed to like things unless they're perfectly executed, what happened to just enjoying movies despite their "flaws"?!
How very brave of you to come for this movie.
As someone who lives 30 minutes from Chapel Hill, I do occasionally dream of going there.
They've got great restaurants over there. Haha
The book was a great read. The book also did the fast forward to the trial then the rewind to the past. I thought the movie looked beautiful, but the cliches are so abundant due to the shortening of the story for the movie. 50 sins for the twist is just mean haha.
The book was a horrible read. Simple, unrealistic, contrived.
I watched this movie little while ago. I though it was pretty alright. You made it funny 👍
A murder mystery masquerading as a calmy drama
Has it ever been asked what he thinks the proper amount seconds of logos so it’s not sinned?
Love when cinema sins makes for a great movie review.
Tell us what you really thought of the ending 😂
The last 50 sins was majestic. Bravo!
This is the 1000th Sins Video. Congrats!
Now we know who actually watched this movie....the people making this video
THE CRAWDADS DON'T ACTUALLY SING!
That last sin was Where’s The Tylenol levels of hell yeah
Lmao 🤣 why were they so pressed at the end 😂
