Recently, reports emerged that Ukraine successfully downed a Su-57 PAK FA fighter jet in southern Russia, marking the first strike against Moscow’s latest stealth aircraft. On June 11, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Russian military used Lancet munitions to destroy a Su-25 attack aircraft belonging to the Ukrainian Air Force at Dolgintsevo Airport, near Kryvyi Rih. This incident underscores the menacing role of Russian loitering munitions and raises an important question: Will Ukrainian fighters and planes ever be safe from the threat posed by these drones?

Far less Lancet strikes than ordinary Ucrainian FPV's, FAB bombs are the scary thing here. Also Baba Yaga .. is reusable, the cost is close to Lancet but Lancet is kamikaze - look / search over Internet Lancet drone misses and you will see they are not perfect. What about drones flying over Russia to destroy distillation columns of russian refineries - do you think they worth their money ?

As Ukrainians, we looked all over the media and online information...And No Russian Sukhoi 57 was destroyed anywhere (but number of Zelensky Su 25s were destroyed lately, again..with evidence for all to see and check out).
However, even here we get rubbish comments like "It was destroyed on the ground"...ie Russian Su57... without even fake pics.
For everyone's information, the Russian Airforce has stated that there is no need to use such modern, expensive jets, as Su57's, against an opponent that hasn't got a proper Airforce, and can't even fly it's jets for more than 7 minutes...the average destroyed time, of all Zelensky Nato aircraft in Ukraine, before they are destroyed.
So, the most modern, capable fighter bomber, in the world, the Su 57 is kept far from any battle zones, deep underground, for use against an official Nato attack...if it ever comes about.
Many of us, in Eastern Europe served with the Soviets, we know that they never waste their resources... especially not against a severely beaten side, that of our occupiers: Zelensky's NATO.

Soviets on doctrinal level admitted they are behind NATO on communication tech and their strategic response was disruption of electro-magnetic bands and denying advanced communication tech thus leveling the field. NATO for the very same reason never developed on doctrinal level advanced disruption EW tech as it would hurt them more than Soviets. Middle East and African adventures never gave any incentives for NATO to develop EW. Thus, nobody disputes that Russian EW are more advanced and mass deployed than NATO ones. Ukrainian war started with Russian EW hurting themselves more than Ukrainians, which was exactly the same reason why NATO didn't bank on it. However, now, under war pressure, EW capabilities were refined on tech and operational coordination and usage hurts Ukraine more than Russians, especially in the context of NATO tech flooding into Ukraine and relying on advanced guidance.

Russia is dominating. The F 16s will not matter. Ukraine keeps on fighting in futility. It is woefully short in manpower. It does not have command of the skies . The F 16s are not going to change the situation. The best thing for Ukraine would be a negotiated settlement with Russia, on Russia's terms. Note, Russia has not attacked Odessa, despite it being an ethnically Russian dominated city. The probable reason is, Putin would like Ukraine to have a seaport rather than become landlock. But, if Ukraine persist with its war strategy, it could lose Odessa.

FYI:- “Downed” means “shot out the sky”, whereas in this instance per this SU-25 means that it was “attacked” and or “hit.”

It is not all that difficult to build shelters for the aircraft that are either hardened from enemy bombs or even ones that use heavy gauge wire fencing on steel frameworks that the aircraft can be parked under. Fencing can enclose the aircraft completely and can be quickly pulled away for aircraft movement. Camouflage netting on the fencing can conceal the aircraft at the same time from drone observation. The fencing can stop even a Lancet from inflicting heavy damage on the aircraft even if it does squarely hit the fencing over the parked aircraft. Such a shelter would be cheap and easy to construct. Then all you need is a few anti-drone weapons to engage the drones as they loiter to try to find their targets since the drones will have to loiter longer to detect a target under the shelters and attempt to attack it.
Both Ukraine and Russia are woefully inept when it comes to preventative measures; let alone understand the value of combined arms tactics and strategy.
