"Haven't I seen you somewhere before?" "Well Mrs.Humphrey, probably in your garden, I've been pruning your trees for the last three years" What I thought she was going to say: "Oh, (laughs in shock) yes...of course. What an awkward situation."
Eleanor was quite eccentric as I recall. A sweetie. Great voice. She spoke with a proper Mid-Atlantic accent, which is how properly trained American actors spoke before all the god-awful surfie-boy nasal accents took hold.
Have loved this woman since "hearing" her in "Cinderella" as a kid. And some trivia on a different actor here: the man who says, "Always pretending to be so prim" had played the doctor that tends to little Margaret O'Brien in "Meet Me in St. Louis." "All right, Tootie. What is it *this* time?"
The way I view this, this can be interchangeable with the first class dinner scene in James Cameron's 'Titanic', just sub in Cary and Ron with Jack and Rose, and Eleanor's character with Rose's mother, and have it all 43 years earlier on a doomed ocean liner... it all plays out so similarly ("Where have I seen you before?"... "Tell us about the accomodations in steerage, Mr. Dawson"). This is how you write superb melodrama (melody-in-drama), filmmakers.
"Now shall you deal with me oh prince. And all the powers of HELL!!!" That voice used to terrify me as a kid
My sister is terrified of me because I sound exactly like her when I manipulate that voice line😎
Maleficent was actually INVITED to this party
😁

J S Lasher "narly dude."
She was one of my Aunt Moselle's bridge playing mob at her home in West Hollyood.
@jslasher1 Is there any way you could message me? I'm doing a writing project and would love to hear your reminiscences of Miss Audley!
@@jslasher1 Any specific stories you can share? How was she eccentric?
@@diamondcrumpton7456 Plenty of info on Wikipedia.
RIP Eleanor Audley
She was replaced by Susanne Blakeslee after her death
