Drillpro Miter Gauge Box Joint Jig | Best Bang for Your Buck! | Banggood Woodworking Tools Review
Banggood.com sent me this Drillpro Miter Gauge with Box Joint Jig to test and review. I am quite impressed with its accuracy and build quality. The handle and lock knob are made of solid brass which provides a super solid and comfortable feel. The box joint jig is intuitive, and can also be used to make finger joint.

Thanks for the review, seems like a great value!!
Great video. Great description. Looks well built. Thank you for sharing.
very good and in depth review!
and what a priceless tip with trimming the tip to perfectly fit the notches.
Great review and demonstration of its features!
Thanks for the thorough review.
I am very impressed with the quality of your review. I don`t think you missed anything and you made my decision of purchasing the miter gauge a no brainer. Thank you and am looking forward with your next review.
Very honest and great review! Good on you mate.. 👍
Great review. Especially going through the needed adjustments for improving accuracy.
Very well done and informative.
Nice easy to follow video, decided to buy one after your good review, solid and good build.thanks.
Great info. Thank you!
Thank you, very good review
Thanks for the video. Very well presented. Subscribed.
Wow the quality and price is unbelievably fantastic, can't wait to see what else you have in store.👍👍👍👍
Great review.. I love bang good and all China tools tbh.. They make wood working very affordable
Much better than I thought!
me too! I was very impressed!
Ding, your review inspired me to purchase this tool.I am now a subscriber
tank you , your explication was very good, i gone buy that for sure,
很好的一件工具啊👍
You did well with this, especially when you fixed the slop in their angle stop.
I missed where you gave the box joint size adjustability of the fingers.
They say you learn something new everyday. 5:30 is mine for the day!
Love this comment!! Thank you!
Very good content and presentation. I like your style. subbed.
I will try one.. Very detailed review
Thanks for the review and instructional video. Nicely done. I would like to learn more about how you setup the integrated fingers of the jig for making different width box joints. If you have time, could you please make a video on how to set them up? If you have made one, please send me the link to it. Many thanks.
Very good well presented
Thanks! Happy woodworking!
Awesome video...SUBSCRIBED!
Thank you so much .很棒
Good stuff
Great review Ding, thanks. One thing that I would have liked to know is the range of widths that the fence guide bar can be adjusted to fit into?
Cheers Ding! Great review of the mitre gauge, even pointing out the need for the slight modification. I have a less than stellar job site table - don't get me wrong, for the money, it's been great - and the mitre gauge that comes with it is all but useless. With the rising cost of timber, I'm just not happy about wasting material and have been looking for an alternative for some time.
However, I don't want to spend more on the mitre gauge than the actual saw, so, having watched your reviews among others, I think I might give it a go.
Thanks so much for sharing.
nice product, lovit
Great review.👍
Thanks!
Hi...thanks !. 4:42 You made a hole..but behind the wood have you got another wood panel or the alu jig? Could you dedicate a small video only to setting and using the tooth?
Thanks for the video and hello fellow seattlite!
Hello! Lol
Ding nice review I,m in the process in getting my new shed up so I will be saving your video so when I buy this item it's from you.because you gave a complete demo on it nice one .
Thanks Billy! Happy woodworking!
好工具👍👍👍
That was easily once of the better reviews ive seen on any product. I don't think I'm too gullible and I totally believe in your opinion and assessment.
Thanks for the compliment!
good vid.
加油加油。
Can you do a video on how to calibrate it?
Can you use this to make dovetail boxes/drawers, too?
Thanks for the review. I watched a bunch of vids, including this one, on miter gauge and box joint. Ended up with Kreg miter gauge (w/ stop block) and INCRA ibox jig. Hopefully it’s worth the money
I saw a review of the Kreg 7102 and it had a lot of play in the location pin - how is yours?
Mine (the brass knurled pin) kept falling off when taking off the table saw.
Bang good is damn good
我嘞个去,以前一直有看你的视频,今天快看完了才意识到你做的这期是英文的😂
I have a hard time trusting banggood (because reasons) but the thing you showed at 5:12 with the depth setting of your table saw is awesome!
Looks awesome! What's the maximum size (width, height) of the fingers you can make??
I bought quite a lot of banggood tools. The best one I have by now is the cyclone system, super cheap but very efficient.
What’s the size of your cyclone?
@@DingsWorkshop The cheapest one - SN50T6 Turbocharged Cyclone, similar to Oneida Dust Deputy. The price is only 20% of Oneida, so there's nothing to complain. So far so good.
@@shineriseliu7104 that's cool! I wish they have one that's suitable for 4" hose.
At 1:34 you noticed a quality issue with the product. I like how you included a pretty easy fix with it.
Yes love the fact he showed it needed TLC out of the box but then worked well. Now... can I get one in Canada.
I have the aluminum version of this "New" a.k.a. Drillpro miter gauge. As far as I could tell, the only difference was the other had a brass handle. Not important to me, so I got the solid aluminum handled one. I know I didn't pay as much as they are asking now. I think I purchased in the summer of 2020 and paid something like $30-35. That said, even at the $53 plus shipping and tax Bangood wants now, I would buy it again because it's well worth it.
I am very very fussy, yet very impressed with this miter gauge. It's really accurate. And easy to adjust. I put my own sacrificial plywood fence on it. I love the adjustments for the miter slot in your table saw. I did not need to modify my pointer with a file as he showed. Incidentally, mine came quite quickly. I think from N.J.? I can't recall. Maybe there is a U.S. warehouse there? Anyway - buy one. I think you will be very impressed as this young man is.
I bought the same version as you and I agree with everything, it is awesome
bought one, miter bar too small for my ryobi 10 inch table saw track. not sure what to do or how to fix?? can not return. Any ideas??
Just got mine, and it's amazing, using it on my Dewalt 6480. I only wish I would or could see how to have ordered the optional simplified Left Backing Pad and screw. And the stop block, not to worry, I made a work around. You must have cut that opening in the Black backing of the fence, as mine did not come with that opening for the blade to go completely thru the fence.
Yours did not have a notch on the aluminum fence which allows the blade/router bit to pass through? 😮
@@DingsWorkshop at 4:47 in the video you are using the router bit to cut the joint, It goes completely thru the fence, that gap you have in the BLACK part of the fence. It's solid on mine, and you'res looks like you may have cut your's out in order to let that router bit cut completely thru the fence. At 7:55 it shows the gap or cut in your black part of the fence. My black part of the fence is solid, no cut like that.
that's surprising! I mean, I expect manufactures to release updates on their products, but I don't understand why they eliminated the opening notch on the aluminum portion!
@@DingsWorkshop The Aluminum has the gap but the box joint jig, the polycarbonate black fence next to the pins i solid. It looks like you cut that opening with your table saw. Also still trying to figure out what the large washer at the end of the slide is for. It won't fit into my slot on the Dewalt 6480. I removed that and the gauge is working fine.
Oh now I get it. Yea I did cut through the black portion on my first use. The little washer is there for table saws that has a T slot for the miter slot
Great review Ding machine seems to hold up to your tests I certainly will go through your site to order this machine .Oh by the way what size of stop block is it for this gizmo.
Thanks Billy! Here's the link for the compatible stop block: www.banggood.com/custlink/mGKYPGf66G
Hi Ding, Thanks for the nice review. Could you tell me what size hole to initially route out in the black plastic fence as it appears to me that making a box with 1/4" fingers, is soon going to be opened up to 1/2" when making 1/2" fingers, or, do you slide the fence along & make additional holes for each sized router bit to be used? Sorry, I'm confused 😕 😕.
I actually did not intentionally make any opening on the backerboard. As I use the jig to make box/finger joints, I just allow the blade/router to cut into the backerboard a little to start the process :)
Great review. However is the location of the jig in the table slot not now dependant on two small surfaces of plastic? This will surely wear over time.
there are total 4 plastic rings (on one side) and you're correct, the miter slots are indeed against the plastic rings. I did notice these platic rings have a rather low coefficient of friction and therefore making the sliding motion rather smooth. The low coefficient of friction also lowers the amount of "grinding" there is. Ultimately, they sure will wear out, but should be a very long time. I also happen to have the Incra Miter 1000HD miter gauge
Great review! Do you know if the cheaper one with the aluminium knobs is the same quality except of the knobs? Is this the only difference?
From what I can see in the pictures, the only difference is the handle knob. But unfortunately I do not have the aluminum handle version, so all I can tell is from the pictures
can i use this Premium Box Joint Jig with any Mitre Gauge
do they come saw specific? i have a Hitachi saw. love it, but, the chanels are t shaped rather than square.
Hi Johnny, as long as the miter slot is 3/4” wide (or slightly close to it), this tool should work. My table saw’s 3/4” miter slots are also T shaped. It helps “lock in” the miter gauge and prevents it from going upward
I just bought one with your link. The first link is $69.99 now for 2 more days.
cool! Hope you like it!
@@DingsWorkshop Used it last weekend. 90 is not square, but I think it needs some filing on the tip of the detent lock piece.
Hi. I noticed that you had cut a space in the black plastic section of the fence housing that contains the box joint jig to allow a saw blade or router bit through the opening that already exists in the aluminum part of the fence. It seems there’s no other way for the saw blade or router bit to obtain that vertical clearance besides sliding the two black fence sections a couple of inches to the right, across the aluminum. True? Thanks and happy holidays!
HI Gerard, happy holidays! When this tool first arrived, both black pieces are rectangular. When I made the box joint and finger joint, the portion of the black piece (originally covering the aluminum opening) gets sacrificially cut. If I want to use this as a regular miter gauge, I need to remove the two small aluminum fingers on the box joint jig, which is pretty easy. I'm not sure if I understood your question fully...Please don't hesitate to let me know if you need more info :)
@@DingsWorkshop You answered my question, thanks! Just wanted to confirm that you had cut away a section of the black composite material to create an opening that aligns with the opening in the aluminum side of the fence. Regards! Gerard
@@DingsWorkshop Hi, what is not clear to me, is a hole the bigger you can with the bigger head to tenoning you have and then you use as is or for smoller tenons? In other words, this sacrifical cut, have to be like in some videos showed for 8mm head and with 8mm steps or can be bigger and then you decide what step use, reducing the 2 aluminium little tooth spaces in relation of bit head dimension? Thanks
Do you think it would be possible to replace the runner with a slightly narrower one (in hardwood or aluminium)? The table on my bandsaw has a 14mm t-slot. Great video - new subscriber.
Hi Bill, the whole assembly can be disassembled down to each components, and thus I believe you can definitely install onto a barrier runner, as long as the holes for screws are positioned correctly
@@DingsWorkshop Hi thanks for a speedy reply. Is it possible to buy the fence without the box joint attachment.
HI Bill, do you mean like this? www.banggood.com/custlink/3vmRQjmbje
Yes, but as I’m using it on my bandsaw I don’t need the box joint jig bit. Maybe at that price it’s worth buying it but not using the box joint jig.
Do you or anyone here know if this miter gauge will fit Dewalt 7491 job site table saw?
Hello Ding,
I ordered the miter gauge and is very nice as you describe.
My shipping time was about 2 months.
How did you use on a table saw since the extruded aluminum bar is solid and one piece without a gap for the saw blade?
Did you saw a gap?
I used it on my router table and that worked. The bit stayed in the plastic waste block.
-Steve
Olympia, WA
Hi Steve, I’m not sure I understood your question. Are you asking how to use the box jig on a table saw? I essentially sawed through the black waste block piece when I made the finger joints. The aluminum fence has an opening so I was only sawing through the dense plastic, not aluminum.
@@DingsWorkshop Hi Ding, My aluminum fence did NOT have an opening so my miter gauge only works on my router table.
Huh..that’s odd. Do you mind sending a photo of your fence to me? Dingsworkshop@gmail.com
The mitter gauge and the stop block are compatible in your description?
yup, the stop block I have in the description is compatible
I ordered 1 after watching this. 1 question, did you have to cut through the plastic and aluminium jig when first using the box joint jig? As it seems as though I have to to use it
Hi Andrew, I did cut through the plastic portion on my first use. But the aluminum portion of the fence has a 1.25" x 1.25" opening, so you will not need to cut through aluminum.
@@DingsWorkshop thanks
Hi, I have a question: the scale is devided and locked per 5°. Do you have an idea how to set up and lock e.g. 13°? Thank you.
for 13 degrees, you cannot use the pin to lock the "gear". However, you can still dial the miter gauge to 13 degrees, and lock it into position by tightening the brass handle
Hey Ding. If you're like me, I hate having loose parts floating around the shop. Here is a tip you can share with your viewers on this Drillpro Miter Gauge Box Joint Jig! Instead of removing the feet for box joints every time you want to use the Miter Gauge and Fence do this. Cut a piece of 3/4 plywood to fit the fence like a sacrificial fence or backer board, then add a tight top to fit over the top of fence, like an upside down letter J. Now slide your wooden jig down from the top until it hits the Box joint foot. Make a pencil mark on your jig, then remove the jig and head over to the table saw. Now cut a 1/8" or 3/16" slot on your pencil mark the exact height as the foot of box joint and you're done. You could also use double sided sticky tape if you prefer. This way you will never ever need to remove the screws, nuts or the foot period. Leave it in place permanently. I hate screws floating around where you can lose them or never find them when needed. Nice idea. Enjoy!!! Paul
What is the width of the bar guide? I live in Europe and the slots on table saws are not the same as in US.
Hi! The bar is 3/4 inches or approximately 19mm. There are 4 plastic rings on the bar which can expand the width to be larger (but can’t make it narrower).
This looks exactly like the Rutlands R9026. Are they made in the same place and just marketed under different names?
Wow! They certainly look identical! From what I was able to find out, the miter gauge is under a Chinese brand called W-new. It seems the Rutland is a rebrand of the same thing. The fence on the Rutlands listing look different though
Is it possible to set any other angle besides its notches?
It is possible by tightening the brass handle. However the accuracy is not guaranteed due to the lack of notches
@@DingsWorkshop thank you very much!! I really like your channel by the way, keep up the good work!
Well I ordered one back in April the estimated delivery was 2 full month(6/3) No Show by the 10th contacted them they gave me a FedEx tracking number and asked me to wait another 10 days. Tracking shows they have paperwork for a package in CA. Still No Show! It is 6/19 today! If you want this quick or seemingly at all go elsewhere!😡
So nearly 6 months went by still no miter gauge! I contacted them again demanding they expedite delivery or refund my money. Only good thing out of this they refunded my money 2 days later. But I wanted the gauge! I guess I’ll get a Incra!
Hi 老螺, i'm a Malaysian chinese , a totally new
welcome!
Fucking awesome.
What is the thickest material that can be used for box joints with the jig?
The largest gap/slot that can fit between the two pegs is 15/16 inch
The 15/16” is only the biggest box joint “teeth” and spacing. There’s no limit on the thickness of the material
@@DingsWorkshop So, as I asked, theorically if you have a 15/16 router head you make a 15/16 cut in miter to be ready to maximum size you can tenoning?

I recently received my miter gauge and I am disappointed in the product. The aluminum miter bar is too flexible and causes the gauge to bind to bind when pushing on the tall handle, especially when set at a large angle such as 45 degrees. Additionally and even worse is the inability to set the gauge at any angle other than the detent angles (5 degrees increments). If there is a way please explain.

I have one. it's bogus. the ad says it fits Crafstman 3/4" slots. no. it fits benchtop saws wth 19 MM slots. It does not fit old American cast iron Craftsmen 3/4" slots
there is a complicated aluminum stamping on top that has a tab that fits into the web shaped cutouts for the various preset angles. the hole is drilled about 2 MM off it makes the tab fit in wrong, and the preset angles are rotated clockwise about 3 degrees
it is as useful as a fish bicycle. you can use it to crack walnuts
