  • In this X-Plane 11.30 video, we will take a look at how to configure response curves for a rudder hardware device.
    Whatever applies to the rudder control, applies to any defined axis in X-Plane 11.

    Laminar should make a user database where you can download other users “realistic Cessna settings” etc. making it easier for everyone

    • @Q8Pilot
      @Q8Pilot  Před 5 lety +2

      That would be a bit difficult I suppose because every hardware will have a different curve profile. It would be useful nonetheless. Thanks for watching!

      @weswheel4834 Před 5 lety +2

      Also, I'm not sure if you use xcamera. I think its a fantastic plugin. However, there is a database/collection of user contributed cameras available for each aircraft. This is great in theory but there's little way of knowing which ones are any good. (I've tried using ones with a high number of cameras as this can show that someone has spent some time on it, but this is skewed by the creation of orbits which quickly add a large number of cameras). In both cases, some kind of peer-review system would help I think.

      A year later: does this exist yet? It really wouldn't be hard to do. Only needs a Wiki-style website, where each article is a given controller model, and in each article, are either config downloads or at least pic or text of settings.

    Thanks this information on this video.
    I have the Hotstart TBM 900 on X plane 11 and for the most part I LOVE it EXCEPT the EXTREME SENSITIVITY on the controls. After messing with it for 6 months I finally just threw in the towel, but this past weekend I decided to give it another try and began searching videos on how to adjust the settings and ran across yours. I studied it and then started adjusting my settings (what did I have to lose right) and after about 2 hours of tweaking I made some REAL progress. It actually flies like a real plane now. THANKS SOOOO MUCH for your insight, it really helped me.

    Greatly appreciate your video on this upgrade in Xplane 11!!!! I have a fairly sensitive set of rudder pedals that makes flying the sim 172 three times more difficult than with the real plane. I do have to say, however that when one flies the real plane, it makes takeoffs a breeze along with many other flight maneuvers. Those sensitive Sim controls really makes one fly all the better in the real plane. But I will enjoy adjusting my controls in the SIM to a more real world flying experience. Without your video, I likely would have taken months to figure out what the new update 11.30 has. This one upgrade is worth knowing about!!!!!! And I say thank you for that.

    I also fly Radio Control aircraft. This is a feature in most modern radios to “dumb down” sensitivity for control surfaces, particularly for beginners, so movements aren’t as responsive causing the plane to be twitchy. Could be useful but at the end of the day, you input the necessary controls for each plane to fly it accordingly. Every plane is different and part of the challenge for me is working with the differences until I can master them. Still, I can see this as a useful feature for fine tuning flying characteristics for many people.

    For those with Thrustmaster TFRP pedals (and/or the whole T.16000 HOTAS kit), use Nyogel 767A on all your rails. The only downside, is it's hard to find the detent point on the rudders (also hard to keep them clean, especially if you have pets, though so far after several days of heavy use, dirt/hair hasn't ruined the experience yet...just vacuum around them often & wear socks). I'm otherwise using default curves because I have no reference to how any plane actually handles, so I'm trying to make it more difficult in my sim in the hopes that reality is easier.

  • @Aleksandar6ix
    @Aleksandar6ix Před 5 lety

    If I may suggest, it is much simpler to describe that curve's actions by viewing the physical rudder movement rather than showing an airplane being controlled on the runway, as it is very much related to how it 'feels' before applying practical situation. But that's still a great video with the right kind of content!

    I toyed with these settings in Beta1 before I decided to roll back to 11.26 & to wait for the completed 11.00 release.
    I have the Thrustmaster TFRP pedals & the software includes a response curve config tool. I understand that it writes direct to the hardware & I suspect it overrides any settings in the current 11.26 XP. It will be interesting to see whether the new response curves will take over priority. Until then I will remain confused :)

      This feature is primarily designed to compensate for differences in computer peripheral hardware vs the equivalent controls in a real aircraft. For example, a joystick may have a relatively small travel distance in comparison to a real-life yoke. A given response curve will produce different results - depending on the hardware peripherals in use.

    • @eddewes8409

    • @neromax4424
      @neromax4424 Před 5 lety

      Wrong. Everyone's hardware has a different scale of deadzone that needs to be accounted for, now with this you don't have to use your hardware's software or another 3rd party program to account for your deadzone. This should have been a part of X plane from the beginning, now I don't have to use software to have true flight controls
