    Is it possible to create multiple tiles in one big process with Ortho4XP 1.30? Yes, it is! In this tutorial I want to show you how to setup Ortho4XP to build as many tiles as you want in a row, without having to come back after every finished tile to start the process again. We will have a look at several ways of doing it and the possibilities you have to modify the results, including custom zoom levels for each tile, as well as the integration of alpilotX's HD Mesh! I hope you find this tutorial useful :)

    One important remark when creating multiple tiles with the HD Mesh and also applying custom zoom level areas to the tiles:
    Contrary to what I say in the video, you have to apply the higher zoom level areas to the tile BEFORE writing the tile .cfg file in the settings window. So it's the other way around to what I say in the video. Otherwise somehow the custom ZL areas won't be remembered and all imagery for the tile will be downloaded in the base ZL. Sorry for the confusion.

    • @Dan360player
      @Dan360player Před 5 lety

      I dont use HD Mesh but still have the problem when creating 2 tiles at the same time which both have higher zoom level areas. The first tile always has the standard zoom level as you mentioned. It seems that the program can´t "remember" the first tile parameters.

    • @SimulationChannelDeluxe
      @SimulationChannelDeluxe  Před 5 lety

      Hmmm that's strange, I just recently created 8 tiles (2x 4 tiles as a batch) in Canada for my new ZIBO tutorial and started with the tiles containing the airports and the higher ZL areas and it all worked fine for me. Also the areas in the first tile got remembered in my case (and also not using HD Mesh btw).

I wondered if I add an alpilotx mesh tile then add a Ortho tile to the same lat/long tile area ....is this the same exercise as you have described or will the 'area' be messed up doing it this way? ....

    • @SimulationChannelDeluxe
      @SimulationChannelDeluxe  Před 5 lety

      Thanks Mazo :) All the photoreal scenery that I created for the Alps and around LOWI uses the alpilotX mesh/elevation data. And I'm absolutely happy with the result (you can also see that area during the intro and outro of this video). If you already have ortho scenery in that area but without the HD mesh, I don't know if recreating all the tiles would be worth the effort, as I don't think there is an easier way to apply the HD mesh to already existing tiles.

    Just one question for those who is using x europe v2, the option for extract overlays its not necessary, right ?
    Or there is some advantage to add them as well in the overlay folder ?

    The folder created by the ortho4xp which cotains these confg on what was used to create the tiles can I delete them too ?

    • @SimulationChannelDeluxe
      @SimulationChannelDeluxe  Před 5 lety

      I'm glad you like the tutorials :) Concerning your questions:
      1) I'm not very familiar with xEurope, but if it places autogen based on OSM data then theoretically you don't need to create overlays via Ortho4XP for the covered regions. Just make sure that xEurope's entries are above the ortho tiles in the scenery_packs.ini.
      2) Since the config files get created in the tile output folder that you specified and all other contents of the photoreal tile will go in there as well, I wouldn't delete anything right there.

      I dont exactly understood from the video where this confg file was located. I mean.. I thought it was a second folder made it by ortho4xp with the same coordinates of the tile, but in one of them containing this confg file giving information about the tile it self. Thats why I was asking if can I delete - just to not hold unecessary files.

    • @SimulationChannelDeluxe
      @SimulationChannelDeluxe  Před 5 lety +1

      I used to play around with that setting in the previous version of Ortho4XP, but now I'm just always using the default value. It gives good mesh resolution with not too many triangles. You can of course set it as you like and some people prefer several million mesh triangles in a tile, but for me default is just fine. And even if there's no HD Mesh available for your area, I think that Ortho4XP downloads a high quality mesh that is superior to X-Plane's default mesh.
