  • One thing I see new pilots struggling with in X-plane is efficiently navigating around the cockpit. this little video explains how to setup quick views to jump between the different areas of an aircraft cockpit so you can efficiently view all the areas you need to work with. it makes a HUGE difference to flying in x-plane.

Just as a foot note, you can also get other positions using RH, mouse & obviously save, as you explained, using the Num-Keypad.

    Thank you so much!
This really helped me out a lot, especially as I began flying with the Zibo's B738 because I always had to "move" the camera in an awkward and completely stressful way.
Now my workflow is way smoother and I can get in the air as fast as possible.

REMEMBER THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN "TEACHING" AND PRATICING: WHEN PRACTICING YOU CAN SPEND ANY AMOUNT OF TIME, WHEN TEACHING YOU MUST COME TO ESSENTIALS QUICKLY AND "EXPLAIN THE HANDLING WELL STRUCTURED AND AS CLEARLY AS YOU CAN". MOST PEOPLE CONFUSE TEACHING AND PRACTICING. THAT GOES FOR ALL TUTORIALS OF ANY KIND, NOT ONLY FLIGHT SIMULATORS.

I think you might have to re-assign the keys for quicklook in config section. I do not have a Mac I can try this on though. but I bet you could re-assign all quicklook keys so you can assign/use the quicklook in X-plane.

hmm, good question. Not having used a Mac in years and always one with a number pad im not sure you deal with that! Maybe in the key binding section you can alter the hot keys to your function keys possibly... like key combo. CTRL-F1 to Ctrl-F9 ?? and set them with CTRL-Shift-f1 to f9... but as I said you need to find where those keys are currently bound and change that....

If you want other views, I switch to using X-camera plugin for this. I did a video on it a while back. The developer of X-camera has a whole series of videos talking through every fine point of x-camera. It really is awesome. I jsut dont use it all the time during my flights as quickview works inside the cockpit. i go back after and use X-camera to watch other "non-standard" viewpoints. I do wing views, inside cabin etc. Go look up x-camera.

*UPDATE* ...... I just found out how to do it ! just change the line " -solid_camera " to " _no_solid_camera " in the COCKPIT.OBJ file . this way you can look TRHU the cockpit door !
For example the default 737-800 , it is in the folder :
      C:\Xplane 11 - Aircraft - Laminar Research - Boeing B737-800 - b738_cockpit.obj
Open it with ' wordpad ' and there ( almost at the buttom ) you will find the line " ATTR_solid_camera "
change that to " ATTR_no_solid_camera " and save . You can do this with any airplane with "locked" cockpit doors .
      Safe landings !
