      That is a high bar haha
      But thank you, sometimes I think it’s nice to have the sounds of the environment come through and be as important and present as the visuals, sometimes music can distract and create laziness within the sound design

    Fantastic work. Love how rich and vibrant the colors look and the grain of 16mm really adds a timeless vibe to it.

    It's stunning (and so cool to see an Aussie shooting with a 16s), but the sound design blew me away. It's incredible. I'd love to know about your process

      Cheers Daniel !
      Honestly I’m just figuring the audio out as I go, trying different things and seeing if they stick and sounds as if they were part of the shot.
      Definitely pretty rough at it though !
      Thank you though mate I appreciate it 💗

    this is beautiful, maybe the best footage iv seen from a arriflex 16s.
    did you use a 100ft daylight spool, or a 400ft

      How much film did you go through? Also how much time was spent on this? That looks like some steamy hot jungle to lug a camera through!@@ssimple4190

    Gorgeous. Therapeutic aesthetic. The secret sauce to film is color, I used to think it was dynamic range but I think it's color, there is just so much color information in each frame. I feel like I am right there. Beautiful work as always.

      pretty sure it’s a combination of a lot of factors, not only the 2 you mentioned

    • @SereneBobcat
      @SereneBobcat Před 7 měsíci

      @@Aviciiz I am pretty sure there are many factors too but color in my eyes has risen to the top of the list.

    Your videos give me chills! The all encompassing audio plus the slow cross fades of the landscape shots are unreal. I watch them on a 4K OLED with surround sound and they just transport me. I can definitely tell the difference between the Arriflex 16s and the Krasnogorsk 3.
    How much of the audio did you get from tue boom mic? For instance the spider footsteps I would guess were ADR in editing but they are still awesome!

    • @ssimple4190
      @ssimple4190  Před 7 měsíci

      I’m Glad you’re enjoying them !
      Thank you 😊
      Everything was recorded on a pcm d100 field recorder at a later date, i usually pick up audio after I’ve completed the Final Cut of the visuals.
      Helps me separate and focus on filming and audio independently so I don’t make any costly mistakes trying to focus on both. But sometimes if I need to hike a good distance or travel far I will pick up audio as I film.
      I have done a fair bit of mixing and adr on most projects to date, especially this one with the density of life in a place like this, as well as trying to enhance more spatial separation.
      But I’m very new to the audio world, so I have a lot more to learn and improve on.

    What I am trying to understand is how you converted this from 4:3 which is 1.37 ratio for the ST 16mm camera to 10.5 inches wide and 5.5 inches high on the monitor (of the spider which is easy to measure), when that is 1:90:1 ratio, or even wider than Super 35 aspect ratio? Did you film in 16mm then drop to fit that ratio or convert the camera? That is even wider than Ultra 16 which is very close to this ratio. Did you convert the camera or crop to fit?

      Thanks !
      I used 500T for its sensitivity rather than its colour balance due to being in such dimly lit environments.
      It’s really quite easy to colour grade D & T stocks to match each other (I’m definitely not the best at it though) haha

      This was recorded with a handheld recorder and a lot of mixing, mostly for Tiny details sounds like footsteps, feathers flapping and close up noises like the jumping spider.
      I don’t consider myself very strong in that department but I enjoy figuring it out as I go for each project
