- ZL1s along with any GM platforms with 6 piston brakes stop on a dime. But the pads that come from factory from Brembo create way too much dust. So why not upgrade the stopping power and significantly reduce your brake dust? Well here we go. Hawk Performance Ceramic brake pads fit the bill and more. This should serve as an instructional video on how to swap your pads on the 5th ben ZL1 or any GM product with the 6 piston/4 piston big brake kit.

Rear pads: amz.run/4lKO

Excellent video. Finally someone that actually clearly shows how to disassemble and reassemble.
Oh wow. This was way easier than I thought
Honestly it’s very easy. Just make sure you get that tool and some beers 😌
Thanks dude, just got my 2023 ZL1 and the brake dust is insane, got me some ceramic pads to cut down on the clean up since this is just my cruiser
For sure!
@@MrLSX you saved me a lot of time. I knocked it out this evening with my son. Thank you again!
@@Dormantee glad to help brother!
Very helpful. Thanks. Do you happen to know the torque spec on the center bolt?
Your welcome brother. Unfortunately I don’t off hand.
@@MrLSX I found the torque spec for those who are interested. The front caliper guide pin bolt is 35 lb ft, and the rear caliper guide pin bolt is 30 lb ft.
Hey Friend thats how its done, Say I been looking for the pin kit for the front brakes and cant find it ... I found the back brake kit any info would be appreciated. Thanks man have a great day!
I would cross reference the part number and search on eBay brother.
Hey man love the content. Just bought a 2014 zl1 and need to replace the Brembo pads BAD. Do you still recommend the hawk pads? Also could you post or reply with an updated Amazon link to find the right pads?
Appreciate that! Yes I still recommend these. Stopping power was very good and brake dust was virtually completely eliminated. I just checked the links and those are the correct part numbers for these brakes.
Thank you! Also I’m having issues with the day time running lights 🤣. I swapped them with ijdm toy ones and they initially worked fine. However now they only work when I unlock the car. They don’t work while I’m driving anymore. Could it potentially be a fuse? Or if you have no freaking clue no problem 😂😂 thanks for the response!!
@@julionieves2068 that’s because the connecting prongs probably aren’t making correct contact.
I’ll take a look. Thanks again!!
Are you satisfied with the brake pads? better results than original brembo?
I use the car as my daily driver with a few spirited runs every month and I can say I am very happy with them. Not to mention the lack of brake dust is great.
@@MrLSX That's perfect 👍 will get me these brake pads too, thank you 👍👍
@@MrLSX No squeaking? I bought the same Hawk pads. The dust and squeaking is death. I plan on swapping them today.
I bought R1 Concepts ceramic pads for my Jeep SRT8 and those were nice.
@@69Ford429 No squeaking at all. Just have to make sure to lubricate the pads correctly.
Hey man I don’t mind to ask I have a guy selling 2019 zl1 brembos but I have a 2013 rs camaro I’ll willing to do a conversion on the car but I was meaning to ask is it possible??
I would double check, but I want to say they would work. Assuming you get the correct size rotors as well, they should bolt up since the calipers are the same.
@@MrLSX thank you so much man just ran into you recently on CZcams gotta say love the content you’ve made man !!!
@@briansoto8812 I appreciate it brother. I’m going to miss the ZL1 a lot. But subscribe and be on the lookout for more Corvette content coming soon.
Do you need to bleed them or do anything else after installation???
Just pump the brake pedal after every corner to redistribute the fluid. You can flush the fluid but I only had 40K or so.
no bleed required... But to change the fluid you would need a bi-directional scanner to bleed the fluid out.
Useless
