This was happening to me recently with an electrician that is doing work on my office building. Would stare into my eyes and hold the gaze. The guy seemed to be really into me so I approached him because I thought he was shy. Turns out he was married. So he did it as a game. To keep his life fun since he's probably bored to death in his marriage. Also to keep me thinking about HIM and not his single and available co workers who were obviously into me. Sick bastard!! All the time I wasted thinking he liked me. SMH
omgfo yup happened to me too. Grown men who do this are usually up to something and I now stay far away from any man staring at me. It's not really a compliment it's more like, "will she take the bait?" He went so far and even told me he missed me once when I went away for a few months. IMO, men do this because they are unavailable and want other female attention without the 'cheating' aspect of it coming into play. Yes, he wants the women to be thinking about him and maybe grow to be interested in him. The women may like the attention (they've been lured in, as you've stated) and hope something will happen, but there's no pay off because it's probably going to be nothing more than a staring game. I've come across this situation many times, men stare and do nothing. You think they're interested in you and they do nothing because they can't. If they were single and available I would think eventually they would make a move if they see they've gotten the woman's attention and they sense a response (non-verbal) from her. I think it's awful to play with someone's head like that. I know I get tired of it.

I had this happen to me at an awards show years ago. I was a seat filler and kept feeling like someone was staring. It was this musician in a pretty famous band at the time. He stared at me but didn't smile. As I would move around I would catch him staring at me but not smile. I thought he must be on drugs or I had food on my face or something. It was creepy.

Its not that complicated. We look because we like what we see. It's not part of some game. If he doesn't approach its because he is reading from you that you're not interested. Or he could be too timid or unavailable.

Thank you! I started at a new job 3 months ago, somebody kept on doing that to me. Then I asked him a question why he stared so much. He answered with "Stare?" As if he didn't even know about it. Never in my life has anyone done that to me in such close range. Coming from a different culture and generation, I found it very difficult to relate to that. I don't know what to do or neither what to think, is a quite big difference(age) between us and I am not sure what he meant. When I made eye contact with him, he was,like, already staring at me in the eyes. I looked away because I was surprised and shy at that time,and when I looked back at him he was still staring at me in the eyes. This dude used to do this to me when I was in his class. I used to be REALLY REALLY shy which meant I didn't talk a lot. He just stared at me blankly so I stared back and smiled. It made him really uncomfortable so he looks away. Then one day he came up to me and asked why I was staring at him all the time. I replied with "I'm sorry? I can't speak the English really well,". Then he just stopped talking to me...oops?
I feel it depends on the guy. There are some real creeps out there -so be careful. Especially if older not a guy in your school. That stare can be from a guy that wants to hurt you. Then, there are kind guys you see that like you stare & are afraid to approach you shy. I wouldn’t approach a guy that states though. Lol,DL, I have short sight and I find contacts and glasses a hassle. I can't see if people are smiling or not from a distance let alone looking at me. So I can't see if that's someone I like or dislike. I walk a lot and I have to make a guess as to whom that person is coming towards me or away from me. They are sooo comfortable with trying to lure you in, but when I became really upset and angry at his stupid behaviour and figured out that he wasn't looking for anything serious, I told him off really good and then he said to me that I needed to stop reading into things that don't exist and that whatever I saw wasn't real. He tried to gaslight you. When I confronted my starer at work (he had been doing it since I started which was a year ago) and he became defensive and said he wasn't interested and didn't want me to contact him. He stopped for a few weeks and later started again with his staring. I don't even care anymore, ridiculous,. These dudes clearly have a thing for you when they do this because when they act pressed when confronted you know that you touched a sensitive spot - they get all embarrassed and they try to project that embarrassment on you. Childish and quite narcissistic. Good riddance when they finally leave you alone even if that could take years.
Well there’s an older pastor at church that does this to me. I just smile and say hi. He did this to me the other day when I got up during the service to go to the restroom. His expression is so serious staring as I walked past I would think he’s silently reprimanding me. When I smile and say hi he just nods at me. He also tends to have that same serious expression when I see him after service is over. But once I start talking to him his whole demeanor softens and he listens very intently to what I’m saying. I guess because I don’t give into the attempt at intimidation. I just continue with my bubbly greetings lol. He also tends to lean in for a friendly side hug… so I don’t know I wonder sometimes because I don’t see him hugging everybody. Maybe he just doesn’t realize how serious he’s looking at first.

So this is kinda happening to me, but I still don't quite understand x) I've been in this thing, it's kind of a training program... and there's this guy there who keeps staring at me without EVER smiling. To be honest, I didn't even notice he was there in the first two days, but then in the third, as we were all entering the room I just ran into him. When that happened, he grabbed my arm and I grabbed his almost instantly and we said "I'm sorry" at the same time and it was almost like we had a moment there. The other day as we had a break, I went outside to smoke a cigarrette... 2 minutes later he was there but I think he didn't approach me because I was talking to a friend and so he just went right back inside. It was kinda obvious but I second guess everything anyway xD Yesterday for instance, he saw me leaving and he just left like he was in a rush. He even forgot to sign this thing we have to sign every day so he could follow me... or at least I think that was his purpose. But then we went in different directions and then again, he never talked to me. Today it was more of the same. Endless staring and again he followed me when we left the training program but as we got to the point where we have to go our separate ways, I stopped to light a cigarette (and of course it was an excuse to see if he would talk to me or something). He kinda stopped when he realized I was still there and he came back again, he passed by me, but then he just kept walking... so, eventually I started walking as well x) I'm obviously interested in him or I wouldn't be here but I don't really see myself approaching him. I’m kinda glad to see similar situations .. So here’s the deal . I work at the mall and across from me there’s a store. Mostly all guys work there and all the guys stare at our store lol . This was happening to me recently with an electrician that is doing work on my office building. Would stare into my eyes and hold the gaze. The guy seemed to be really into me so I approached him because I thought he was shy. Turns out he was married. So he did it as a game. To keep his life fun since he's probably bored to death in his marriage. Also to keep me thinking about HIM and not his single and available co workers who were obviously into me. Sick bastard!! All the time I wasted thinking he liked me. SMH

It's not really a compliment it's more like, "will she take the bait?" He went so far and even told me he missed me once when I went away for a few months. IMO, men do this because they are unavailable and want other female attention without the 'cheating' aspect of it coming into play. Yes, he wants the women to be thinking about him and maybe grow to be interested in him. The women may like the attention (they've been lured in, as you've stated) and hope something will happen, but there's no pay off because it's probably going to be nothing more than a staring game. I've come across this situation many times, men stare and do nothing. You think they're interested in you and they do nothing because they can't. If they were single and available I would think eventually they would make a move if they see they've gotten the woman's attention and they sense a response (non-verbal) from her.

I had this happen to me at an awards show years ago. I was a seat filler and kept feeling like someone was staring. It was this musician in a pretty famous band at the time. He stared at me but didn't smile. As I would move around I would catch him staring at me but not smile. I thought he must be on drugs or I had food on my face or something. It was creepy.

Thank you! I started at a new job 3 months ago, somebody kept on doing that to me. Then I asked him a question why he stared so much. He answered with "Stare?" As if he didn't even know about it. Never in my life has anyone done that to me in such close range. Coming from a different culture and generation, I found it very difficult to relate to that. One time he did such an intense stare, it felt like a stab to the heart. Now I understand why. Too bad for him, it did not work.

I don't know what to do or neither what to think, is a quite big difference(age) between us and I am not sure what he meant. When I made eye contact with him, he was,like, already staring at me in the eyes. I looked away because I was surprised and shy at that time,and when I looked back at him he was still staring at me in the eyes. I kept that eye contact like 4-5 seconds and I was the one AGAIN who looked away. I guess I wasn't that confident like him at all. I don't know what to thing or what to do, because this thought of being just friendly is still in my mind. He is much older, what can I tell? It is very difficult to say... Lol,DL, I have short sight and I find contacts and glasses a hassle. I can't see if people are smiling or not from a distance let alone looking at me. So I can't see if that's someone I like or dislike. I walk a lot and I have to make a guess as to whom that person is coming towards me or away from me. The problem is it may look like I am paying someone perv time when in reality I am confused. If I know what's going on I try and smile. I don't think I ever look and not smile, or raise my eyebrows in greeting. I have a lot of woman walk past or women who are in front of me look back. being a man i have done this before and just to add my 2 cents in to all the women watching. men are simple, direct decisive. we see something we like we are going to take as much as we can in. even if it's just a glance or a few seconds. men are visual creatures. but dating logic is right. women love mystery. For me at least when i do look but don't smile it's kind of subconsicous and depends on the situation. for instance if i make eye contact with a women and i see she's holidng it longer than usual and i see that twinkyle in her eye i'll flash a smile. always ends well. when you make eye contact it's either a friendly encounter or a hostile one. but when two just make eye contact and don't smile move anything it's kind of like " anything" can happen.

They are sooo comfortable with trying to lure you in, but when I became really upset and angry at his stupid behaviour and figured out that he wasn't looking for anything serious, I told him off really good and then he said to me that I needed to stop reading into things that don't exist and that whatever I saw wasn't real.

When I confronted my starer at work (he had been doing it since I started which was a year ago) and he became defensive and said he wasn't interested and didn't want me to contact him. He stopped for a few weeks and later started again with his staring. I don't even care anymore, ridiculous,. These dudes clearly have a thing for you when they do this because when they act pressed when confronted you know that you touched a sensitive spot - they get all embarrassed and they try to project that embarrassment on you. Childish and quite narcissistic. Good riddance when they finally leave you alone even if that could take years.
Well there’s an older pastor at church that does this to me. I just smile and say hi. He did this to me the other day when I got up during the service to go to the restroom. His expression is so serious staring as I walked past I would think he’s silently reprimanding me. When I smile and say hi he just nods at me.
He also tends to have that same serious expression when I see him after service is over. But once I start talking to him his whole demeanor softens and he listens very intently to what I’m saying. I guess because I don’t give into the attempt at intimidation. I just continue with my bubbly greetings lol. He also tends to lean in for a friendly side hug… so I don’t know I wonder sometimes because I don’t see him hugging everybody. Maybe he just doesn’t realize how serious he’s looking at first.

When that happened, he grabbed my arm and I grabbed his almost instantly and we said "I'm sorry" at the same time and it was almost like we had a moment there. The other day as we had a break, I went outside to smoke a cigarrette... 2 minutes later he was there but I think he didn't approach me because I was talking to a friend and so he just went right back inside. It was kinda obvious but I second guess everything anyway xD
Yesterday for instance, he saw me leaving and he just left like he was in a rush. He even forgot to sign this thing we have to sign every day so he could follow me... or at least I think that was his purpose. But then we went in different directions and then again, he never talked to me.
Today it was more of the same. Endless staring and again he followed me when we left the training program but as we got to the point where we have to go our separate ways, I stopped to light a cigarette (and of course it was an excuse to see if he would talk to me or something).
