I think I will have 4 videos on this repair
next week we will go over messuring
the week after will be prep and install
If anyone has any questions please feel free to reach out
YOU CAN DO THIS !!!!
Was the mast still up? Also does this boat still have the original wood keel step?
@@KentKleinknecht-uc9ql no I had her demast for this repair as well as inspection and wiring on the mast
The keel stub is surprisingly not rotten in this as it is original
I have heard that this is a very difficult job. As always you make it look so easy
I need to have you on my boat one of these day
I wish I had your skill set
Thank you
You got this
You also do not need $$$$ tools go to harbor freight and get stuff for these projects.
I am not sure where you are located however I am tryng to get myself a new project boat and my time will be very limmited.
I am always availabel to video chat if you ever decide to do some of your own work
very interesting to see this come out
as always thank you for all of these videos
Glad you enjoyed it
great video
Love how you show everything
Thank you for tuning in
Well this looks like fun 😢😢😢😢
LOL LOL so much fun
You are doing this all for free ?
You sir are crazy lol ❤❤❤
Yes I am! I know I am hearing this lots but I love helping people out and I love boat work so it is what I am doing righ tnow
Wow
very interesting. looking forward to seeing what you got going in to replace it
Frank I hope to finish in the next week or so and will get the videos out as soon as I can
It was definitely a stinky job and next time we should probably stretch before doing shit like this lol
Lol yes we absolutely need to stretch
And light some candles 😆 l 😁
WHICH Catalina page/group? There are lots of them! Thanks for the videos and encouragement.
I just started on and have a link on my page
Catalina 25,27,30,34 please join
But Catalina 30 owners and Catalina 25 27 30 is also great however they do not allow CZcams videos
Brian, what was that stuff to the left was that more wood or structural putty like you said? How come you didn't remove that? I'm just curious.
That is putty and some glass
It holds a drain and acts as a brace for the block
I "think" it can be cut out but I ran with caution on that one
I felt it should be left in place
Curious how you get a new post in there. Do you have to pull the whole post outs from the top?
Oh no.. Really there is no valid way to replace it OEM
a screw jack is really the only way to fix this
ill get you a photo
Were those wires that you were working around? It just to me would have seemed easier just to cut the wires and reattached later just me.
That the antenna and mast lights
If I have learned one lesson in life it's not to cut antenna wires lol they weren't bad to work around
My 1985 Catalina 30 had the compression block rebuilt with concrete or mortar. It looks and feels like it's held up okay, but it IS an unorthodox method, to say the least. Any opinions? (I'm prepared to replace it with proper material, unless somebody can reassure me it's gonna be alright...
Keep floatin"!!
Are you serious?
I want to help next time
Well you got to wake up kiddo lol 💤💤💤

lol
Hi Brian, another great video. I felt like I just removed a stub myself. Question, I can't seem to find the replacement stub on Catalina direct. Do they call it a different name?
I'll look for a link tomorrow when I'm near my computer
However I truly believe getting that back in will be impossible
If I were you I would go with a screw Jack

@@Sailing.Artemisagreed Brian. Also, it appears the block is for if the left half is removed also.
@@counterpunch1000 I'll have a video next week or so showing the jack plate I had made
@@Sailing.Artemis look forward to it. I am gonna have to do it also eventually
Looks like it smells so so bad
it was sooo gross
Man what a terrible project
I really hope I never need to do this
LOl it really isnt that bad and well worth the work to save the boat
