Have you ever seen phosphorescence like this before? We couldn't believe it! Even with all the lights of the town, it was SO bright -- like the ocean had suddenly become neon paint!
Saw plenty of it in my years as a deck officer but weirdest experience with it was on a ship working off west Africa. The wheelhouse toilet had a sea water flush and at night you got got a mini fireworks display!
Very occasionally, I've seen it in the waves breaking on a beach in the UK, and a few other times. I'm 46 and have been afloat most of my life . That was so cool!
Oh, that was SO beautiful! It reminded me of a night, nearly 30 years ago, when I swam in phosphorescence like that on Little Trib Beach on Hornby Island in BC. It was so incredibly magical. Each sweep of my arm while I swam created a spiraling trail of light. Even my hair drifting in the water caused the water to light up. I'll never forget it.
Not blue…more of a silver twinkling while swimming off Anna Maria Island, FL. Mesmerizing.
I have here in Hawaii, in shallow water, where you could see every footstep glowing blue. I have also seen the northern lights, and your comparison is absolutely correct. Magical, mesmerizing, and magnificent. The only other thing I’ve seen that I would put in the same category, is lava, up close, here in Hawaii. Beautifully amazing. Love your videos. Aloha.
Seeing the Swedish coast makes my heart happy. I had a Swedish ‘brother’ an exchange student I met in 1966. I went sailing on the west coast of Sweden 5 times. I recognized so much that you videotaped. He has summerhouse near Lysekil. I lost him to cancer this last August. I will miss the sailing and the Swedish people. Maybe another trip to sail with his son. Enjoy every moment on a boat. Steve
Your videos are getting more and more beautiful every week! Between Aladino’s superb craftsmanship and Maya’s equally superb videography and music choices, your videos equal or surpass anything put out by mainstream producers. That was just sublime!
So true, they have kept the child's gaze, full of wonder, but have the ability to capture it.
This one made me nostalgic for your travels on the canals after leaving the Mediterranean. You two got me through the Covid lockdown with joy & wonder traveling with you. Thank you Maya & Aladino.

Anything worth having is worth passing along. Being stewards of a thing, and then seeing it go to a new steward, is a blessing.
I had the great fortune of passing my most prized possession to my son. I hope I live to see him enjoy passing it to his child.
I've never seen phosphorescence like that amazing to see and also impressive that the camera can record it. Bittersweet about selling Magic Carpet. I am sure her new owners will be impressed even after months of living on her finding little thoughtful details that Aladino put into her.
Thank you, these last two videos have been like a complete Mental Health session. Between Mya's gentle voice overlays and the beautiful scenic views, I have come away refreshed. I have enjoyed being in the moment and reminded that taking the time to slow down is what we need to learn to do more of to keep the balance in today's world. Aladino's walks along the rocks with the soothing music you have chosen just to calm the mind. I to will miss Magic Carpet should the potential sale go through. It only means that Magic Carpet ll, is truly getting closer to new adventures of its own.
Wow, drawing in the water with light.
Magic Carpet is such a beautiful boat. Whomever buys her will be very lucky.
I know you say you won't be back to Sweden, but, never say never. Magic Carpet II is made of solid stuff, and I think she's just as likely to take you there as anywhere else.
So good to see Maya back to herself in voice and movement! This is a happy channel once again. You are two rather nice people! Children playing with the phosphorescence 😄 Really special closing music; I'd love to know what it is... You guys are the Jonna Jinton and Johan of the sea!
No one can take away the memories you both have with Magic Carpet. Thank you for sharing the moments with us.
Magic Carpet is a Beautiful Boat! Now the Magic Carpet you Both are working on will be Beautiful as well! She is already taking shape! Thank you for sharing your Beautiful video with us and can't wait for more! I truly understand the bittersweet and mixed emotions as you both go through this transition! My Heart goes out to both of you!
Tranquility is a Beautiful Thing !!! 🌅🌞☀️🎄⛄❄️✨
It's a beautiful boat, made that way by your combined efforts. I can see that Magic Carpet II will be just as beautiful. I can see that you enjoyed your well earned break from boat work. Waiting for new episodes from British Columbia.
Magic Carpet is such a pretty boat. MC2 will be as well and much more suitable as a live aboard, but MC will always be in your hearts. And ours. ⛵
Likewise from the Philippines
When you really think about it, we are just stewards of those things we possess. Those things are passed on to other stewards, whom we hope will cherish them as much as we did. You and Aladino have been great stewards of The Magic Carpet through the last 4-5 years I have watched his channel waiting on the edge of my seat for every Friday for a new installment. I’m sure you will find a worthy steward for her next voyage.
Very nice and peaceful to watch. Not boring Peaceful. Nothing dramatic or that jumps out at you. It shows you both a peace and enjoying yourselves in the magical scenery. This Boat is a beauty in her own and I truly hope the new owners when you get them treat Magic Carpet as the Lady she is. Aladino is right in saying this is a part of moving forward and as you already have Magic Carpet 2 now the separation won't be as rough as if you did not have a boat to go home to. Yes Magic Carpet 1 will be missed another art piece by Aladino, Miya I guess now you have the time needed
to play your music which must be so peaceful and calming for you.
Looing forward to next video stay safe
What a beautiful boat Majic Carpet is. You both did an amazing job with her. It's breaking my heart to see her go...
I think its fantastic that a couple as young as you two are are able to live the life aquatic the way you do. Your video editing is, as always, top notch.
Phosphorescense seems to accompany my most memorable times on the water-including an amazing night my husband and I spent on our sailboat near Blake Island in Puget Sound. That night included a visit from a whale, a meteor shower, and morning fog which cleared just in time for a solar eclipse. But I've never seen phosphorescence as bright as what you saw! I hope it's a good omen for the future of Magic Carpet I and your future with Magic Carpet II.
🙂I bet you notice how much bigger#2 is, you are not going belive the difference when under way. Love you two !!!
Beautiful Vâderôarna. We sail there every November during "gubbseilas". Last event for our Colin Archers every season :)
The time away from the refit has done you a world of good. It is so nice to see the relaxed faces and hear the zest and wonder in your voices. I can not wait to hear more music and see your ongoing adventures.Thank you for sharing your journey with us and good luck on the sale of MC1.
You sail in the waters where your boat once was born. Vindö-boats were built just north of Orust on the little island Vindön.
Beautiful night photography, the Magic Carpet I story is ending on a high note, in radiant home waters.
What a wonderful experience seeing the phosphorescent in the water, absolutely magical.
I’ve never seen phosphorescence, but I can say that I’ve NEVER seen as lovely a boat as Magic Carpet. Well done to both of you.
A (small) bottle of LEFFE-beer...perfect choice for a beautiful evening in front of a lovely sunset...i love it and still doing the same when onboard of my small "Halcyon 23" in the Netherlands...! Best regards, Linus
That bioluminescence is amazing! I studied marine biology many many years ago and never got to see that. How special for you both.
Stunning sentimental video. Love how you let the cinematography speak for itself, a joy to watch.
Thank you for sharing this calm heartfelt episode with us, cheers
It must be breaking your heart to think about letting her go, I'm damned teared up just watching her and you two. Oh if only... ❤
MC1 is beautiful but you will be so happy when MC2 hits the water. Great to see you both so relaxed and you M with the violin in your hands
You captured that phosphorescence so magnificantly it was almost i was there seeing it myself. Epic.
EPIC. Well said……
Your yacht is stunning on the eye , it's a timeless beauty
One season sailing in the Florida Keys we saw very bright phosphorescence. We took the dink out for a spin and the glow shone through the dink and exploded away aft in the wake as we motored through the water. We often see the glow in the Pacific Northwest in the San Juans and the Gulfs, but in a muted way, and never to compare with that summer in Florida.
Flush the toilet when it's dark in the boat!
My favorite anyway.
Fair winds from Sweden 💕😄😃
What wonderful scenery, and what a beautiful boat!
Beautiful, we should be grateful to be guests of this planet.
Beautiful sun set. Lovely part of the world. Or you could be sanding. This is a nice change of videos. I do miss my magic carpet two updates but this is so nice. Thank you.
Another beautiful video. So glad you showed that shot of the hose, as up 'til then I thought it was Aladino showing off, after too many beers...
A beautiful vessel the next owners wont be disappointed
Your music selection, boat and photography are all beyond bounds. Love from Australia.
Peaceful, beautiful, and bittersweet. ❤
Thank you for having Us........
Oooooh! Someone will be getting a brilliant boat. Lucky them.
How lovely for you both👍 , as one part of your life close's then the next chapter opens and so on you go to the next part of your journey of enlightenment , that phosphorescence was magical its things like that that make you truly grateful for the life you are living😊 .
she is truly a beautiful boat
I hope the next owners will be able to take care of Magic Carpet like you two have.
Magic Carpet 1 will proudly live on because the love she received brightly shines. . . :>/
I have always thought your husband might be to much of a perfectionist, maybe but I could never decide if I should think that . Looking at your smaller boat I have decided maybe sometimes but probably not. The results of his work speak for itself. Peace and love hope your both well and gods speed to you both
What a well earned vacation and reset after months of work on MCII. Right place, right time! That was some amazing phosphorescence! And yes, it does remind me of the northern lights! Enjoy!
My father had a yacht on the west coast of Scotland way back in the sixties. He had a clinker rowing tender and I will never forget the phosphorescence when rowing back to the yacht when anchored.
I like how Aladino says about the potential sale of MC 'and hopefully the sale goes through because we haven't put too much effort into it' apart from a brilliant repair and resoration job, and lovingly cared for and enjoyed since then, Such a special thing to ensure the boat finds a new owner to care for her and let others enjoy the good days and more challenging ones too.
phosphorescence is beautiful, especially when sailing through it at night, having dolphins accompany you makes it even more magical, I've been fortunate enough to have experienced that, I'll never forget it.
People say the day you sell a boat is one of the happiest days of your life, it's not true, well for me at least, it's more like having a loved one leave, you know where they are going will give them a better life but you know you may never see them again, it's very emotional. Magic Carpet 1 is probably sold now so I guess you know how you felt.
Wow, that was amazing! And you had it all to yourself. So magical, painting in water.
Not too much unnecessary talk, I like it (very different video). Just nice scenery and sailing. I see a lot sadness leaving this boat, specially in Aladino. However you have to go forward.
You live wonderful, purposeful lives.
Thank you!
7:20 That's in Sweden? I had no idea that phosphorescent algae could be found so far North. As for selling MC. Whoever takes her on knows without a doubt just how well and even brilliantly it's been taken care of. It is hard to let go of the past sometimes. Just remember Nothing will disturb the memories you both have from her.
Amazing boat, amazing places, amazing couple!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful life with us 🧡
Great to be back in Norway!! ⛵⛵⛵
Watching this video brought me back to a time when I was young and experienced phosphorescence on a beach near Big Sur in California. I ran up and down the beach with a stick throwing light into the air like a magic wand. Thanks!
You two just keep creating, sharing and magically producing amazing video stories. You’re a trifecta of sailing life; gorgeous vessel(s), scenery, and 2 humans made for each other! Can’t wait to see MC-2 adventures
Beautiful yacht and well maintained. Where bioluminescence really gets wild is when you see smaller fish being chased by larger fish. It is like being in a movie like Fantasia by Disney...or some over the top LSD trip in the 60's with real Timothy Leary acid. I have a 30 foot trimaran. Would love to sail the coastlines up there. Thanks for taking the time to document this pristine sailing area. If you ever get the chance come sail the Sea of Cortez. It is between mainland Mexico's west coast and the eastern side of the Baja.
Hope it was’t the last time in Sweden. You have to explore the inland waterways. Nice to se the Swedish arkipelago, we have been there many times. Good luck and fair winds to you both. //Tomas. S/Y Rose
oh wow, that's pretty special seeing the phosphorescence, i have seen this in footage from the rear of Navy ships and heard stories of Pilots and Navigators losing radar and then being able to find a carrier by the phosphorescence given off by the stiring waters of the propellers
Dear Sailing Magic Carpet couple.
👍👌👏 Oh WOW, simply fantastic and quite magical! Almost like painting in the sea/water. You caught very touching moments on film. Hope that you will even have the pleasure to sail in phosphorescence/bioluminescence algae somehow in the future.
Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing this wonderful and peaceful video.
Best regards luck and health in particular.
Wow ,that was a treat, thank you
Awesome as always. Just sit back and enjoy. Thank you.
Wow! Thanks for sharing this video. I’m amazed at how beautiful Magic Carpet is. The huge effort you have in II will be well worth it.
Such great talent.
It's hard to let go of something that was so meaningful in both of your lives and shared adventures but the new boat will provide many more opportunities to come.
818th subscriber LIKE; 357th view about to set sail... from my desktop, that is.
Books have their chapters; and SMC 1 has been a full, and hopefully fulfilling, chapter in both your lives. May the next owner/s be so fortunate. Peace & fair winds.
It's a bittersweet thing to enjoy MC I as it's just a matter of time before she's no longer going to feature on the channel. Such a lovely boat.
I loved the slow pace. It infected my mood, I paused in the middle to make my coffee and it felt like a continuation.
Great to see your old boat being used again. The lines, woodwork, the care.
This seems quite solumn for your videos but still beautiful.
Good evening from Michigan. My heart goes out to you. But wonderful new adventures await though I know letting this beauty go will be difficult. Happy to see you sailing once again.
I know this post is about the transitioning of Magic Carpet to new caretakers, but I have to say I really like the way it ends, music gently playing and a bit of text letting us know what's to come and thanking patrons. (too many videos end with loud appeals for likes and subscriptions) Thank you
I really miss your commentary and your violin. This was a cool video.
always someyhing amazing with you two!
Hi guys, wonderful to see you’re so relaxed after quite a hectic couple of months. It’s good to see you enjoying each other’s company again and the smiles on your face towels at all. Keep up the good work cliff from Logan City Queensland, Australia
What a treat! Took a couple gummies and settled in to watch this and that phosphorescence was mesmerizing
I , too will cry when/if magic carpet sells. I have followed it since the canals....long time.
Wow... keep it. I like that boat too. Especially the book match molded plywood cabin. Not to mention the fabulous logo. love to buy it :-)
Absolutely stunning!!!!
Really enjoyed the slow pace and contemplation of a big step! Moving on can certainly be bittersweet. Enjoy your last days onboard Magic Carpet.
I remember a night sailing from the Isle of Wight down to the french coast. It was totally dark, but the bioluminiscence in the waves and at the bow was magic. I will never forget this night.
We were doing a night sail from port Grimaud to Corsica when a pair of dolphins came to us. It took a moment to realise what it was as there were two parallel streams of bio luminescence coming at us amidships looking like torpedoes which was a little unnerving at first but at the last moment they switched to their usual dancing around the bow with magical sparkling trails. It was one of the most amazing and beautiful things I have ever seen.
Great episode, nice to have back on the water.
I can’t get over that varnish. She’s been looking so fine since the last refit. Gonna miss that boat, but she has a bright future on her own. Been watching since ep23 (and then back of course), can’t wait for ur next adventures !
Great content as always ty once again for helping take my mind away for a min or two
Just beautiful!
Good one Maya.
Magical as always. ❤
Amazing!
Beautiful boat !!!
Great video, fantastic music and editing!
This one felt particularly "soul-nourishing" if that's a word.., thanks!
Wow ! Glorious video, one of your best 😊 thank you for sharing. Sail on. Cheers
Beautiful music selections! looking forward to check in on your new adventures......also very good cinematography and mood capturing shots.
This is my first viewing of this channel and you reaffirmed my feelings that if you are skilled at cinematography and cinematic structure you will do well on CZcams. Of course that’s not always the case but in yours it is. Lovely video and story.
Thank you for sharing your adventures.
