Magic Carpet, If EVER there was a boat full of soul, it is you! You've been a beautiful little lady. A boat that served a few sailors and opened the hearts of many followers, friends, and patreons. I thank you. (This pivotal episode put a tear in my eye.)
Thank you for your words. I’m finding myself not able to do the same. Can’t believe I’m so emotional, but a unique and pleasurable experience it’s been.
Me too, floods of tears, its emotional especially after last few years, going thru the channels at that time, her saviour by Aladino's so precious.
That's exactly what I feel, they brought a bigger community than they would thought. Merci de la part d'un canadien français
Such a beautiful episode!! I also cry with you guys. How about planning a new chapter with a Magic baby? You guys will be such good parents. ❤
Anyone that follows the channel would know that is one of the most well maintained boats of her kind . A real find for anyone
The sailor's version of Julius Caesar's famous quote of course is, veni, navigavi, vendidi - I came, I sailed, I sold. The never ending story of a sailor that keeps being repeated. Guys, you have made these memories with this beautiful tool and with that grew the channel to 155K subs. This was the ouverture to a beautiful symphony, right? Happy time!
And it's good to see your creation being adopted by these fine people.
Love that sailor's version J. Caesar style! Profound. True. Applies!
Right from the start the adventures of Magic Carpet have been some of the very best content on CZcams. I look forward to the next chapters in the story.
So happy that people who know the story and have loved her from afar can now experience the Magic and Beauty of Magic Carpet......The love, blood, sweat and tears of happiness and toil are going to envelop the new owners like a mother and her newborn baby. Not going to lie, I was crying like a little girl.
me too
Me too, this episode brought a tear to my eye a couple of times. But I too have sold a beautiful custom-made wooden sloop to move on to a bigger boat. I miss the simplicity and elegance of the old one, but would not go backwards to living without a full galley, proper head and veeberth, and all of the other amenities that come with the new one. That includes an extra four feet of length, a full foot of additional headroom, and the stiffness of two tons of extra displacement when the wind gets up.
me too! hahaha
Fortunate is the man who buys the boat Aladino has maintained.
How much did she cost? I presume 50th.E at least.
I lost my wife in October 2020, she grew up on a sailboat in Houston Texas. We sailed the Golf of Mexico many times. I crossed the Pacific, before I knew her, five times. I know what it is like to let a Boat go. Your Love of Magic Carpet will always be there, if only in your mind. USS HENRY W. TUCKER DD 875 12/24/1972
Delighted that MC seems to be going to someone who already knows and appreiates what he has bought, good luck Tony and Kathy, you have taken ownership of a real gem!
Oh man. Can I say it? Has it been said too often? I think Aladino is cutting onions because I’m tearing up too. Beautiful boat and adventures. It would be cool in the future to sail Cape George to meet up with Vindo.
Now here's a very interesting side effect of your vlog. In 2001 George Akerlof got the Nobel Prize in economics for explaining why buyers *as well as* sellers are so often disappointed by the price. It is because the sellers who know everything about the product feel they didn't get enough, whereas the buyers feel that maybe they overpayed for 'a cat in the bag'. But your vlog changed all that, and both parties are equally well informed and can be happy about the transaction.
Maybe this is a little sweetener for your goodbye to Carpet 1.
The new Skipper sounded like a real sailor and someone that will appreciate the boat . With all the work and joy you've had with the boat it's only natural to feel deep emotions . You should be happy that it will continue to bring joy & pride to the new owners as it did you . Seasons Greetings from San Diego , Calif. USA
I'm surprised to find myself teary-eyed and choked up. I'm 10 million miles away from your lives yet your emotion affected me deeply...as if an old man needs another reason to cry. It is a beautiful vessel.
What's most reflective of this sale is how incredibly talented and wonderful you both are.
What an adventure! Thank you for inviting us to come along for the ride. Blessings as you start your new adventure.
A boat should be sailing and not parked. It's hard to move from one home to another. But you've created an incredible record of your life aboard Magic Carpet and will always have those memories.
Saying goodbye to something you love isn’t easy, but the memories you made will always stay!
Baking fresh bread, that old real estate trick ha ha. So cool that the new owner loves the boat and intends to use her. Sad to see her go, but onwards to new adventures, magic carpet 2 awaits!!!
Congratulations and our deepest sympathies on passing Magic Carpet on to her new caretakers. She was pretty special to us too as we have followed every step of your journey and your passage through the canals heavily influenced us to embark on our own misadventures. A boat is so much more than the sum of its parts and I am certain this will not be lost on the lucky sailors that will be her new stewards.
Congratulations on the sale! It sounds like they will take care of Magic Carpet 1. It's a beautiful boat! Leaving something that you've put so much work in is emotional.
They say the two happiest days in a sailor's life are the day he buys a boat and the day he sells her. Not everything is eternal, but boats are close.
Your writing will carry you forward. Your narration is what keeps bringing me back.
Thank you for the most wonderful sailing adventure we had ever been part of, i feel honored to have been part of all the people that sailed along with two of the most gentle souls on the planet, you have got us through some of the crazyest, saddest, happiest time's in history, not even a world wide lock down could stop Magic carpet from showing her talent, congratulations to the new lucky owners, treat her well. Peace, love, light, calm to all🙏
Glad to see the passing of SMC vessel to good caretakers. I shed a tear as well, I quite understand. Onward is the only path.
Congratulations on finding a wonderful couple who will cherish ownership of such as fine sail boat. Magic Carpet is sooo beautiful. Look forward to the new boat adventures once she is finished.
You have all the ages you have ever had. Your youth will always be in you and with you. There are no goodbyes.
If ever I was to buy a boat it would be Magic Carpet. The people who bought her have a boat in pristine shape thanks to Aladio's craftsmanship.
I am so sad that Magic Carpet is leaving your lives, but so happy that she is going to somebody that already loves her, and i am sure will look after her well. May you take many beautiful memories with you. What a special boat! Wow, I am in bits too...
Happiest day is the day you buy it, and the day you sell it. I’m sure Aladino is relieved to be responsible for just one again.
Magic Carpet is a nautical work of art though, and Aladino your rescuing her was totally worth it. Sad to see her move on, but to seemingly great people.
You two are sailing perfection… really! A craftsmen shipwright and a lady crafter (videos, music, story telling)! Such a perfect ending to your ongoing journey through a “life of sailing.”
If you haven't had beautiful Magic Carpet but an ordinary production boat, I would never have clicked your Videos four years ago. I think this is true for most of your followers. 🙂
Can't stop watching its like when I was a kid and my favorite TV show Happy days would come on clued to the TV for half an hour a week.
Openly Crying like a little Girl.......... Your Love for the boat and each other is just Beautiful to see........ But very Hard to Watch......I send you all the love in the World..... Bless you both..... :-)) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Maya, your narration and editing on this piece is superb. I don't think you could have found more suitable and appreciative new owners if you had waited for years! I understand the poignancy of this sale, both for your attachment to the boat, and for the end of that era in your lives together. You restored the soul of Magic Carpet one, and she lives on in a perfect place because of you, in the hands of loving new caretakers. Now move on with your bigger, sturdier boat, and enjoy the extra space, amenities and security that she will add to your sailing lives.. We look forward to your new adventures!
They say that when you buy a yacht, you also buy its owners. Well, at least how the previous owners looked after and loved her. You guys have cared for Magic Carpet I impeccably and with much love. It's a credit to you two and will inspire and look after its new owners. Don't be sad- she's out there doing what she was built for- sailing and bringing joy to people.
I have to admit, having watched your videos from the very beginning. I was a little saddened by her sale. through your videos, she has become part of my life also. I have so many good memories of your adventures on her. I know that I will have many more memories from magic carpet two. I love you two, And I’m excited to see what new and amazing things you do in the future

Leaving this beautiful boat after putting so much work into it. That makes me cry 😢
It's a good sad. There are adventures ahead, but I feel your pain x
Change is always bittersweet; moving forward means leaving behind, but Magic Carpet is going to new owners who will love her, and you are moving into a new adventure. Bon Voyage . . . !
A chapter ends, opens the door wider to new continuing adventure.
Thank you for sharing this special event with us. You have such a wonderful way with words.
So glad that you found a new steward for MCI, and he sounds like it will be in great hands and well looked after and sailed to a number of interesting ports of call. Looking forward to the new adventures that you will create on MCII!
Oh dear. Such a difficult moment. I sailed my 27 foot around europe in 2006-2013 and then, for 10 yrs i just had no possibility to get away from my shore life again. The boat got in a neglect, in a marina 2000 kms from me, visisiting few days a year, paying fees, and decided to sell numerous times, but always stepped back as my heart was breaking. So i still have her, and i will sail her again, finally, this summer.
Guys, think of her as she is good hands for the years until you do the big journey. And after that is done, you may own her again. Belongs to you. You saved her. She will return to you some beautiful day, with a great breeze, some years from now. I am super sure.
Lots of love from Catalonia
Poignant, beautiful, stunning. All at the same time. This is your art. Bravo.
Authentic, being the way you are committed to, sadness and happiness the same coin, just different views.
Waching your jurney from the first episode and even before, the $1 boat... I have no profound words to say except for saying that Aladino looks better with short hair and clean shaven. 😊
I wish you good luck with your new acquisition. I felt the same emotion when I sold my old sailboat after 19 years of good and loyal service. Only those with a sincere attachment to their sailboat can understand this feeling.
Come on you guys... think about all the fun you are going to have on Magic Carpet II sailing around the world, you haven't started having fun yet.
Cheers from Abbotsford BC 🇨🇦
Once again you have touched our hearts. The parting of the waves carries you forward on your lives of adventure. It is the inner truth and quality of your work and your lives that keeps me recommending your vlog to others, and coming back week after week to live vicariously through you. Thanks from an old grandpa to you two wonderful kids.
Thank you for sharing your vulnerability in moving on from such an important element of your identity and personal history.
I am pleased for you that it went well, but it did bring a tear to my eyes, totally.
So, anyway, I wish you a very Happy Christmas and a less taxing but adventurous 2024.
Magic carpet she will be missed, but your moving on to another whole new adventure with magic carpet 2, the future is yours. Keep the videos coming.
Turn the page; no, a new chapter, no; a brand new volume! So privileged to have been invited along with you on your journey so far and looking forward to more adventures. All the best to you both!
Thanks Aladino! I just stop the video, got a hanky, made a cup of tea, composed myself & pressed play. Then you say "Goodbye my darling" and that was it I was off again ! HAHA
I was not a part of those who followed you during your journey with Magic Carpet I. I joined in when you started to build that work of art identified as a tender or dingy. Needless to say, I was impressed with the knowledge, commitment and workmanship that Aladino displayed in every decision and execution of the assembly. I continued to be impressed and Magic Carpet II went through the deconstruct and then the incarnation began to emerge. However, this video allowing us o join you for the sale of Magic Carpet I is the first time that I have felt the unanimity that you share and the importance that Majic I has ment and continues to mean to both of you as a binding part of your relationship. Thank you for sharing that intimacy with those who truly care about you and your journey. God bless with fair winds and following seas as you continue.
A sad but auspicious time, and time for the next chapter for all. I can't wait to see it unfold.
Congratulations you managed to sell Mc AND made me she’d tears 😭 thank you for letting us follow your journey’s
She is one beautiful boat! And so aptly named "Magic Carpet"!
A new story in your life has begun! Tears obvious! Congratulations, of course! Sail on!!
I started following you as you began your slog up the Rhone. What a journey it's been.
Awe guys, it’s never goodbye, it’s always see you later 😊
Hey, hey, remember the old adage about the happiest two days of a sailor's life. This is one of them.
I am impressed how you were so calm, iven i had some tears in my eyes whey you left her 😅
Tony and Kathy seem to be the right people for her, I hope that they stay in touch. Fair winds T&K
As I've followed you from the start there was a little tear too, having refitted a number of yachts and what it is to put your soul into them, I understand, looking forward to the continued story of Magic Carpet 2, and the continuing story of the 'dream' 🎉🎉
There are two times when the boat owner is happy, when he sells the boat, and when he buys the boat. ⛵👍
The analogy of Magic Carpet being the first chapter in your lives and how it leads to the rest of the story is just magical! Its why I watch! And a new chapter with vast horizons opens! Oh yes!
Magic Carpet is a beautiful sailing boat and You have restored the wreck it once was to a wonderful beautiful sailing ship that has traveled far and wide, while entertaining thousands through your videos. As Magic Carpet was a start of your chapter together, your next ship will be the next chapter of your love and journey. Just looking at Magic Carpet it is easy to see that it has been loved deeply and has been taken very well care off since you returned it from right beside the ship grave and gave the ship a new wonderful loved life as Magic Carpet. Thank you for sharing a bit of your wonderful journey and I for one will look forward to your next chapter. :D
Its a sad/happy day for you 2. MC1 is gone, the memory of her remains.
I feel this very hard, I did the same with a very noble sailboat which is now gone. My wounds which I thought had healed have opened back up. Sailboats are an entanglement of souls.
The boat is gone but you will always have the memories . Enjoy your life while you are young and each other. PS I see you kept the [ ironing board Ha ha ha }
From one beautiful boat full of memories to and beautiful boat full of possibilities
Your talent is beyond our expectation's, we loved this final goodbye to Magic Carpet our emotions swell and fall as tears of happiness for you both, charmed by the knowledge that your on going legacy will be followed in Canada. So thankful, so happy, so thrilling being aboard for this historic event, the sale of Aladino's pride and joy. Merry Christmas to all!
I enjoyed this emotional episode and feel what your tears mean! But both off you are such nice people to watch because every episode feels honest. As a builder I have respect for the patient and skills off Aladino and love to see the progress every week. Keep on going this way!
Greetings from Holland
There is that popular adage which says boats bring joy twice, when you buy her and when you sell her.
Those who say that have never sold a boat. Whether it's for buying the hull of the next oceanic vessel or for buying a house to raise the children, its always heartbreaking.
I have been in both those situations.
Let Magic Carpet 2 fly over many oceans
Congratulations 🎉
Kathy and Tony will be kind care takers of Magic Carpet…
The Movie Hope Floats
Beginnings are scary .. Endings are usually sad… But it is the middle that counts the most … Remember when you find yourself at the beginning… Just give Hope a chance ….
I have been watching forever and although you are sad, the old saying that the two best days in a boat owners life is the day you buy a boat, and the day you sail it is true. Your memories are yours for life and the boat is just one more of many fond memories. Excited you weree able to sell it easily and looking forward to compleating MC II qnd the sailing adventures ahead of you.
Off to new horizons on MC2 great ending of the MC1 era - thank you for sharing your memories 🙏
For me, the delight of your channel is purely down to you pair. The boats are great but it's your journey that appeals to me. You're both such sensitive and genuine people (not to mention talented and intelligent) who have the enviable ability to express yourselves in such a meaningful way.
A testament to the exceptional quality of your videos is the fact that I don't even notice how good they are now! Your channel stands out and it's a real credit to both of you. Looking forward to the next chapter. Well done on Selling Magic Carpet - I know how hard it must have been.
Wow. Legit feelings via CZcams. (exhale...) Thank you for sharing such a personal end of an era, a transition, and the beginning of something new.
Thank you so much for sharing. What a trip. Be in our hearts forever. Ok on to Magic Carpet 2, what a journey.
And the wonderful story continues, wishing you special blessings and a rewarding 2024.
She looks so lovely I understand them saying they will buy it anytime, what a good result, congratulations from NZ you deserve it to be that easy.❤
I started Crying in the first Minute of the Video....... :-(( xxx
It seems you found the perfect owner for Magic Carpet. She will be in good hands. But I understand your mixed feelings and sadness.
Anyway, now back to the boat yard. The faster the essential work will be completed, the sooner you will be on the water. But it's still a lot of work!
Two beautiful people, lovely boat going to new owners that will make sure she is loved and cared for.
Good luck with your new adventure on MC 2 xx
Take good care Mike
Thank you for sharing this historical and emotional episode of SMC. It has truly been a privilege having had the possibility to follow your adventures with MC I all these years. Best wishes from snowy Helsinki ♥️🌏 Juha, vorwärtz!
Thanks so much for Sharing this Very Emotional Vidclip.... They seem like such 'nice' Folks .... They sort of 'feel' like 'Your Parents', showing just so much understanding and support .... Very Best to You ALL from ChCh, NZ.... May the Future bring you Both Nothing but the very Best ...... Keep Well and Saty Safe ....
Well guys. That was very moving. I was wiping tears as you were Maya. It is, as you say, the right thing for you and your project. Magic Carpet is a huge credit to you both, Alardino, your work is of the first order. You can be very proud. So. Onward. We'll be with you.
Oh yeah, selling a boat you’ve poured your heart and soul into is difficult, but finding buyers you know will take care of her mitigates that tough transition and soothes the ache.
Such an amazing chapter coming to a close! Cheers to many more adventures in the next!
I swore I wasn’t going to cry. I cried.
This was so emotional….. and then another door opens. Love to you both- And Magic Carpet II. I love love love hearing you play your violin around the world.
Remember the words you said - Magic carpet is chapter one. I so hope 2 rewards you as one did. Hopefully her new owners will let you visit and keep her going in tip top condition
Good morning Maya and Aladino , when I didn't see the usual Friday video appear on my subscriptions page (Christmas week ) I came back to
this one just to re-watch it for my Magic Carpet "fix" 😸😸 / but I'll also take the opportunity to wish you both a very Merry Christmas 🎄🎄
and best wishes for a Happy New Year with many happy Caturdays in it 😸😺and hoping you're both getting the re-charge your bodies
and Souls need before the next big push to carry on working on M.C ll 🙏🙏😺
727th view, 1.6K+ LIKE. For what it's worth, I was originally drawn to this channel out of interest in seeing how a musician could self-produce ON THE GO - while living and having the adventures as a sailor/cruiser. All the additional things relating to the work & sailing has kept me as a follower/subscriber/tag-along.
Looking forward to the next chapter - to get to see other parts of the globe my own eyes likely wouldn't be able to do in person. "Cheers!" from Funsongs Music.
Keep making great music as well.
Jeeejh! 🎉 next week Magic Carpet 2 time! Love those construction videos! Keep up the good work😊
Commendable heart-felt "closure" moments/ memories!
Salute!
WHAT ... a journey!
Have loved to tag along with you around the Mediterranian - pottering up and down european canals and visiting scandinavian waters...
Will look forward to tagging along with you as blue water sailers 🙂
Looks like MCI has very nice new owners ... almost as nice as the previous ones ;-)
MCI has come full circle and you're ready for your next adventure 🙂
To me the measure of a life well lived is the memories we create and the state in which we leave the people, places and things we encounter along the way. I'd have to say that Magic Carpet and you two clearly represent massive success in so many ways in both regards. Wishing for more of the same with Magic Carpet 2 and you 2!
So sad. But happy too, as you embark on your new adventures. This was a bit like the last episode of Friends, but the good news is that the series continues!
