  • In this honest review update of the Herman Miller Aeron chair, I wanted to share with you the things I found interesting after 4 months. I go through a lot of detail on the various things I found after using it in my remote office. From the Size A model version of the Aeron chair, to the questions around the lumbar, arm rests, and even whether the Mineral color stains (yes it does)!

    I own 2 Aeron chairs. I bought my first on over 20 years ago and I've used that chair more than 40 hours a week for that entire time. After about 18 years I had to replace the shock and I just replaced the seat. They last a LONG time! Well worth the money.

    Quick note: It's not a headrest, it's a NECKrest (I think that's an important difference!) You are not expected to but your head in there, but the lower part of it /neck (which is were the tension is created). It's not that it's "short", but just where you should use it!

    For adjusting the armrest height you should consider holding them not in the front (not holding the padding) but in the back (where you also unlock them). This should make adjustments significantly easier!

    QUESTION regarding dimensions: What is the width of the entire seating section including the plastic frame on the ends that holds the seat (where it looks like the hardware was screwed in)? I have a unique situation where my office is in a closet and the chair needs to be able to fit through the doorway (silly I know but this is my only option lol). A response would be greatly appreciated! The doorway is 23'' wide and I've accepted I'd have to take off the arm rests :(

    Can you also measure the arm rest all the way to the ground at its lowest setting? I haven't found any clear measurements on it and was looking into the chair as well. I just want to make sure the height of the arm rests at it's lowest setting is comfortable for me and does not have any issues with the height of my desk. I'm about 5'2 and 1/2 around 110-ish pounds.

      I have an aeron remastered at work and a leap at home. Aeron without a doubt. Leap doesn’t conform to your back as well as Aeron, and in turn, doesn’t support your lower back as well. Sure leap is a bit more adjustable, but leap leaves me tense after 3 hour session. Gotta stretch my neck, legs, crack my back etc. Aeron, don’t need to do any of that after 8 hours.

  • @nsbogert
    @nsbogert Před 3 lety +1

    Main way to tell Classic vs. remastered is remastered has a knob on the left side vs. classic has a couple of levers. Remastered also hides the 'wires' much more. If you have the dial on the arms, it's a pretty old classic. I had both, and in terms of comfort, honestly they're very comparable, but I'll give a ~10% 'comfort' edge to the remastered in terms of comfort, as long as everything else is working properly on both. (If you get a classic, it is probably used and may or may not be in ideal condition.) There are lots of parts for the classic, like the sliding lumbar and the gas cylinder available on Amazon that you can use to bring the classic up to 'like new' condition for pretty cheap.

      I'm 5'6 and I measured out the 16'" of the mesh. I certainly fit into that space but that leaves very little wiggle room before the plastic wings start turning up. I am re-thinking size A on that basis alone although I would prefer the lower seat height of the A v B. It makes it very hard to decide without anywhere to try out an actual chair before buying.

    I realized most reviews about the Aeron are because of seat airflow, but's it's mostly men talking about this and I've determined this seat might make more sense for men than women because at least in my case I don't need to keep my balls cool and sometimes work with my laptop on my lap. Anyway I ended up getting a 550 egro chair and I really like it so far because it's helping me sit up straight, but I definitely think there are some features on these chairs that might make them more appreciated by men than women for certain reasons.
