Rear Brake Pads and Rotors MK7 GTI

- In this video, I show how to replace the rear brake pads and rotors on a MK7 GTI. This DIY is for MECHANICAL HANDBRAKES ONLY. This will not work with electronic handbrakes and/or the Golf R. You will need VAG-Com or OBD11 to retract the caliper.

13mm Socket
14mm Triple Square
15mm Wrench (make sure it’s thin!)
T30 torx

I have a 2018 VW Golf TSI and I'm pretty sure that this video is the same as what I need to do with my own brakes.
What are you supposed to torque the 14mm triple square bolts to? I have a new set that came with ECS OEM kit.

Hi Chris, for the rear calipers do I use the right hand or left hand tool. Meaning if I'm looking at the piston, should it be spinning clockwise or counterclockwise while compressing. Thanks
Hey G P, it should spin clockwise. It is essentially tightening the piston into the caliper. Think of it as a big screw. Hope that is helpful.

Hey Richard, no need for VAG COM on the MK7 or 2017. That’s the same year as my car. Just follow the video. Hope that is helpful.

Hi Kayla, yes my car is a performance pack. However, the process is the same. May have different size bolts.
The 14mm triple square is for that weird bolt behind the caliper right?
Hey gooeykev, it’s for the caliper carrier. The two bolts that hold it into the knuckle. Hope that helps!
