After using Vag Com and OBD11, I still see VCDS as superior. So much more customizability and more detailed information. I sold OBD11 after the first week I had it. Albeit, VCDS is much more expensive, but I think it's worth it.
For the majority of people, the capability of the OBDEleven is more than they could ever need, combined with the ease of use I definitely like it more than Vag Com. I have seen Vag Com being used and it's pretty cumbersome.. I'll stick with using my phone over bringing a laptop into my car anyday unless there's something I couldn't do with OBDEleven (e.g. flashing my car)
zed4me I have a 2017 Golf R and it couldn't do some tweaks I wanted it to. I had to use vag com. And vcds can seem a bit overwhelming at first but honestly, it's so easy once you get used to it. Long coding and bytes are easy to understand and I love how I can see every parameter of the car. I can even tell if my washer fluid pump is putting out the correct pressure. I'll definitely say obd is easier to use and has a nicer UI but vag com is a more professional system. I literally have dealer level diagnostics at my fingertips. And on my 2013 Jetta TDI, I have to prime the fuel system for a fuel filter replacement. Apparently obd 11 couldn't run both fuel pumps so I again had to pull out vag com.
Brandon Friesen Yes, I'm not denying that Vagcom is superior in features. But OBDEleven also allows long coding. Interesting that you can't see what the bit is though, whereas on vagcom for example it'll say "exhaust flap", on obdeleven you just pray you're clicking the right bit haha
Just curious, what tweaks did you make in vag that obd doesn't support?
JayTac1 This was a few weeks ago so I don't freshly remember but I tried activating auto high beams with obd and it didn't support it. I used vag com to activate it. Also I wanted to activate it so that my DRL's stay on with the handbrake and OBD was unable to do that too

when you test the soundakor the CZcams autocap translates it into "why" "why" lol super funny. "Why turn me off?" ? Hahha

Does your car have to be connected to the internet itself? Or do i only need internet from my phone?
Great vid Zed, thinking about getting myself one of these badboys. But first, I'd like to know if this is possible:
I have an MK7 GTI with Light package, and I have the "coming/leaving home" feature, which turns out my headlights when I unlock the car, and turns them off about 15 seconds after locking the car.
I have a Euroswitch, but I would like to have the DRL (the outer "U" ring" around the main headlight) come on when I unlock the car, as opposed to the main headlight bulbs.
My 2014 GLI with light package did this with JUST the Euroswitch, but that vehicle did NOT have the "coming/leaving home" feature.
Any ideas ?

Channel 000 and any other group that displays 10 fields instead of 4 is an exception. No scaling is possible because the Control Module provides no "Data Type" information with the data for these.

OBD II = OBD 2
This is different from OBDII, OBDII (OBD2) doesn't allow you to change the coding in your car like this does
Zed. You're probably wishing you had this for the deactivation of the soundaktor. It was great to deactivate, but I must confess, I preferred the sound. I know it's not real, but I prefer to take the blue pill, and stay in the matrix!
I've achieved the same intoxicating sound that the soundaktor seems to replicate except its now natural. Two things I needed to do, one was the resonator delete, and two was to keep the exhaust flaps open permanently. It really does sound like the soundaktor is still on which is pretty nice because I know now that it's natural and not emulated. I wonder how loud the car would be now with the soundaktor back on haha, either way, video to come soon!
How does leaving the exhaust flaps permanently open affect gas mileage?
akozaro8 I don't see how it could affect it. If it does I'm sure it's too minimal to calculate
+zed4me Glad you like the sound. I have the same setup and like it as well. Toying with trying 50% soundaktor to get a little more rumble though...
Does the OBDeleven need to stay in the car permanently, or after coding can you take it back out of the car?

I've been trying to figure out auto rain window close on my 2016 MK7 GTI Autobahn with no luck (GTI should be the same as for the Golf R). If you can get it to work on yours and make a walkthrough video, that would be awesome! Other mods you can try from that link that I've been successful with using the OBDEleven:
Enable fan display on Climatronic audio
Passenger Mirror Dip (I used the credits for this one)
Key fob window/sunroof open/close
Change instruments to carbon fiber look
DRL option in MIB (nice for when you need to drive around in an area where lights are prohibited, such as a drive-in movie or cemetery)
Keep DRLs on with turn signal (it really bothers me when they dim with the turn signal)
Hill hold assist adjustment (not sure if this applies to you since you have DSG, but for manual the default was 2%, I made it more sensitive at 1%)
Hey I just did the rain window close. At least it shows up on the screen. I haven't tested it though. Once I test it I'll get back to you.
Thanks! I got the option to show up in my car's menu as well, but when I poured some water over my sensor, nothing happened. Some forums were saying it only starts working after the car has been off for a few minutes, and others say you need to do a factory reset of the mirror/window settings before it'll start working, but I have not tried that yet.
so it means this device is useless without pro version . No access to the app with standard version = won`t connect with device = error message "device not authorized" even if your sign up link is confirmed and activated.
Obd 11 is great for the weekend warrior type of work . Any engine /trans coding will VOID any factory warrant , also other modules like abs ,central electric will also will voided . While obd eleven is great AlWAYS be cautious u might fry a module 😱

zed4me dont you have the feature, that turns off the engine when you stop the car? It Is on automatically on most new cars in the EU. So you have to push a button everytime you start the car, to turn it off.
Is there a way to get the blind spot monitoring system to give you an audible alert?
No I don't think so
dlroto to get blind spot in your car you have to install specific mirrors and sensors
SunLoverMan I have the blind spot system but it doesn't give audible beeps, warning of cars in the blind spot.

If its US you need to buy the power folding mirrors
Mr. from what I have read was that they already are power folding and just need coding to work. That is not coming from me, just something that I have read on a CZcams video in the comments.
The mirrors in the US aren't power folding ones, they're physically different. If you can find any links saying otherwise I'm all ears.
zed4me I'm sure you know better than someone who wrote that in a comments section on a video. Now I'm a little sad that they are not, I was hoping that all had to be done to have them fold was some coding.

Don't want to turn off ESC permanently and torque limiter isn't an issue with the Golf R as far as I know.. just with the GTI.

+zed4me Don't knock until you try it. I switched to the urban yoke to give car approach my rear enhanced warning. The stock setup is not as impactful. I'm not interested in a rear end collision!

Huh? I have the pro and paid 112 on Cyber Monday and have been able to save sooooooo much money with diagnostics alone. It's 85$ anywhere just for a shop to tell you what the issue is. Use it 1 time and it's paid for. Let alone all the apps that allow you to tweak your car and turn things on that weren't from factory. Even the secret green screen for MMI turns on VIA OBD Eleven. Your right you do get what you pay for and I bet youve never paid for one of these
