  • What's shaking, people! I'm back with another a-ha reaction, and this time we finish off their 1985 debut album Hunting High and Low with the song "Here I Stand and Face the Rain," a track with a great title and soncis to match! So join me as we end the first chapter of our a-ha deep-dive. Cheers!

    More than 30 years later this song still touches me as much , like most a-ha songs. It's incredible ! How proud I am to be a fan of this band

    The live version of this one during their latest tour was absolutely hypnotic once we enter the instrumental part/outro

    This has best elements taken from 80's, sound, vocals, synth and melody. Listening it's like living my '88 high school time again.

    I absolutely love the layering/interweaving of Morten's "aaaaaaahhaaaa" towards the end! Damn, this album is freaking fire...and what's most amazing is that Scoundrel Days is even better! "I dream pictures of houses burning..." Really looking forward to your reactions to the Scoundrel Days album!

      And True North is SO different - but I really dig it. They go a bit jazzy...almost Sinatra-like at times. A very different a-ha than we've heard before. So far Summer Rain is my favourite.

    I was 6 when i first heard this song back in 2009 when i took it on a trip to Pennsylvania, this became one of my favorite songs and i love how this sing sheds me to tears and especially that this one makes me think of Pennsylvania.
    Im now 21 and i still care for this song. Hunting High and Low is my favorite album and I love hearing it on vinyl. The one on vinyl is superior to streaming.

    I've always loved this track. I was lucky enough to see a-ha a couple of times on their 'Hunting High and Low' Tour, 2019-20, before the pandemic started. They performed the songs from this album in order, plus other favourites. I've always said their 2nd album 'Scoundrel Days' is my favourite, but every time I listen to another, I change my mind! 'East of the Sun, West of the Moon' and 'Memorial Beach' are other favourites. Now I've got to order their new album straight away!!! Can't believe I haven't done it yet!

    firstly new sub because of your genuine reactions to AHA’s music. I’m looking forward to your reactions as you continue this journey of musical masterpieces. I became an AHA fan back in 1985 when take on me was released with the iconic video when i was 16 i’m 53 now and love AHA just as much as i did then. AHA are a very Underrated and Unappreciated band in my opinion and back in the day i think some people wrote them off for coming from Norway. AHA have a huge back catalogue of amazing music and what i love most about AHA is that none of their songs sound the same they are all different and unique. You are in for one hell of a ride so buckle up please. Take care and stay safe and i’ll see you for the scoundrel days album 😘🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

    I agree that it's the ideal track to end the album. The opening track on the next album 'Scoundrel Days' has some synth music that sounds very similar to a piece of music from the soundtrack of a certain well known John Carpenter horror movie.

I remember seeing Halloween H20 years back and that one was presented as like THE final one (side note: the ending of that movie, where Michael Myers gets pummeled in increasingly brutal ways, is brilliant and hilarious in equal measure).

    I know you hate the dreaded fade out, but even in 1985 the main way that people listened to music was on vinyl. The limit on space must have shortened a lot of tracks. CDs give us the longer versions and remixes all on one disc.

  • @sebzematik
    @sebzematik Před rokem +1

    I made a 2CD compilation of my fave tracks from all of their albums in chronological order in 2014, so when I'm in the mood for a-ha, I have a short cut. It starts off with this song as it sets the mood perfectly. I do prefer the moodier songs.
    At times bits and pieces from HUNTING HIGH AND LOW take me right back to my 11 year old self, sitting in my room in front of my double cassette tape recorder, listening in amazement.
