  • What's up, folks! I'm back with another live a-ha reaction from their performance at Sentrum Scene in Oslo in 1994, and this time we listen to a live rendition of "Touchy," originally from Stay on These Roads (1988). And while this may not be the most famous or fantastic a-ha song, I really love what they do with it here in a live setting, elevating it way beyond the studio version. So join me as we listen to more live a-ha. Cheers!
Also I run a Patreon featuring extra content of different types, so anyone interested in supporting what we do here on CZcams and getting early-access to video-reactions and audio reactions blocked on CZcams, as well as behind-the-scenes videos, watchalongs, and blooper-reels from my videos, can go here: / shnootz
And those who'd like to support the channel with a one-time donation can do so via PayPal, at billshattner@yahoo.com. Thanks!

As you say…not many a-ha fans rank this song very high on their lists …however there are a few notable live exceptions from the early 90s which are really great. This one is pretty rocky and I rate the instrumentals pretty much on it…and like the audience participation too..egged on by Morten I think…although his vocals are definitely not the best I’ve heard. All in all this isn’t a bad version at all and far better than the poppy version on the original record.

I actually really like Touchy! and this is a great fun playful version of it. Really nice. I preferred the slightly heavier guitars and the harmonica battle on the LISA recording but really great performance. Sorry Shell.

I admit that I went right to this one first so I could get it out of the way. 🙈 Sooo...agreeing with most here pretty much word for word. If I could, I would fast foward the actual melody and lyrics and just listen to the beginning (the part that doesn't sound like Touchy )fast forward anything that sounds like Touchy, and listen to the cool parts. (The cool parts to me, let me clarify that I know it's my personal opinion. Some people love this song and that's cool) . Seriously though that part around 5:35, Morten's voice? Damn! Wow.... I agree that his voice isn't like the best Morten voice, but that part really was something to me. Damn....🔥🔥🔥🔥 (Let's see if my comment stays up with my "curse"words there) Seems you were also impressed with that part, Matt? Okay, so I was sitting on the Balcony at my pet sitting gig, listening to this. There was this adorable little grasshopper-like bug that popped up on the arm of the chair next to my laptop. I took a photo of it, for it looked like it was listening to the song and liking it. I went inside to get something then came back. The grasshopper was dead on the ground. 🙈 I am not sure if this is a telling sign about this song or.........😅😅😅😅 I was going to post a photo of it in my profile pic, but well, because of the situation, I have one of the dog I am watching instead. 😅😅

I wondered if you would be brave enough to click on this. 😅 Those moments you mention make it worth the listen. 😉
Oh no, it killed tthe grasshoper? 🤪 Or maybe he sensed his hour had come and just wanted to listen to some coll stuff before he departed this world. I guess that's a better version. 😉😁
Funny, though, I saw the grasshoper photo in one of my notifications. 🤔 🙃

@@SofiaMarques18 I like it. Yes, he wanted to hear something cool before he died. That's it. 😂 I did actually post the grasshopper photo before I went to do my comment. Then I went to get something and was planning to post a comment about how cute it was that the grasshopper hung out to hear the song. I figured maybe I shouldn't post it after all when I saw it died. 🙈😅

Apparently not even a band favourite, it was still a regular in the 90s set lists, and done in this funkier rock arrangement. There were better versions in the early 90s than this one - Morten appears to be vocally struggling with his key here. But, regardless, I do like it and would not have minded it played like this in recent shows. They did play "You Are the One" on the 'post retirement tour' (that's a thing with bands, of course) and it did sound really good, but I always thought this was the stronger song.

For me Touchy! hints of a double entendre and this version accentuates that. The album version is "Bubblegum pop" ... much like their "Juicy Fruit" beginning for Take On Me. This live version gives it the edge they most likely intended, but perhaps weren't free to produce on the album. Just my thoughts ... not fully researched!
Oh and Morten mucks up the lyrics ... not that unusual. Probably exhausted!

1994, um erro estético e conceitual nos shows , Päl e a gravadora tentando dar mais peso e sujeira, aproveitando o surto do Grunge. Veio o inevitável fim.

It's definitely the best version of this song, though (as Graham says) I think there are better performances of it in the 90s. Morten's voice sounds tired and too forced in a few moments here, and he does mess up the lyrics a couple of times. 😅 It doesn’t become really outstanding until we get to the "jam session". And that guitar! 🤟
Yes, you got it right, it's of course Mags working up the crowd, as always. Morten just says "Takk skal du ha" (thank you) at the end, and Paul is silent as usual. 😁
You had already heard a not so different version a year ago (Live in South America, 1991), but I couldn't say which one is better. The 1991 one is maybe a more consistent performance on the whole, but I think this one is even rockier, if I remember correctly. Well, again, fortunately I don't have to choose. 😉
My favourite track on this concert is yet to come. Thank you for another double today, Matthew. 🥰😘❤

Morten messes up lyrics? Wow...I really am not into this song for I didn't even notice that. 😂😂 I do agree that the Jam session is amazing and so is that part Morten does starting around 4:35...wow...damn! 🔥🔥

@SofiaMarques18 Nice, I thought it was Mags, I do recognize his voice better the more I hear him talk during concerts and some of those interviews you've showed me ("imfossible," I know 😉). And yes, loved this performance! Rocking, energetic, and so enhanced compared to the album version (though I thought maybe those vocal moments from Morten were intentional rather than his voice straining). Looking forward to your favorite track, baby. 😘🥰

Hello there. So I try to get around to all the journeys I'm going through, including PSB, though I always encourage people not to compare the different deep-dives against each other, or draw inferences based on frequency, etc. Because each journey has its own origin, personal background, and outside factors. And the reality is, my girlfriend is a big a-ha fan, as are over half the paid-members on my Patreon. So yes, they get a little priority, but that is not a knock on PSB in any way. Anyway, the last PSB reaction was less than two weeks ago, so maybe you didn't see it?
