i know this sounds insane but when you do Heathcliff dont look at him like he is some thuggish brute look at him like a man whos only option is anger i feel like his character is of lies and deceit because during canto 1 he reassures gregor in canto 4 i think it was mission 16 when he and don quixote were blasted by the machines instead of asking dante to revive everyone he says "hey manager hurry up and revive her shes bleeding out" which has stuck with me ever since i saw it at his core he is not inherently selfish instead hes just a dumb man who is only lashing out out of fear and anger
I always interpreted Rodya’s whole “I want to shiver in the cold” line as her saying that she wants to find a way to make up for her past mistakes, she thinks she doesn’t yet deserve the pure happiness Sonya talks about until she can find a way to truly be a hero.
It's a great interpretation since it aligns perfectly with the source material book "Crime and punishment", where Rodion, the main character, after murdering a tax collector lady feels constant and immense guilt, looking for a way to make up for his actions, get punished.

I think something of note is the abnormality Baba Yaga, who essentially acts as a representative of how Rodion sees herself, similar to how golden apple is a reflection of how Gregor sees himself as a rotting husk that masquerades as hope, but inevitably consumes that around him.
Baba Yaga is cold stillness, essentially being frozen to avoid pain or inconvenience if we take Rime Shank’s corrosion quote into account. The minions are more about being the memory of guilt than the actual people themselves, seeing as the living minions are just frozen corpses. It seems to me that moreso than Rodion’s issue being about believing herself a hero, its focusing entirely around that one moment. Its the belief that you must hold onto the moment until you freeze over and are unable to move, guided by memories. Its why her lines about the cold are notable, “I think i deserve to feel this cold a little longer” and, in the rime shank ego, “I can’t shiver in the cold forever”. Its the acknowledgment that more happens, and defining yourself as a hero or villain based on a moment is not really something useful, building on her Zayin ego essentially being about powerlessness about the past (what is cast cannot be undone)
Rodya is character that I like because SHE KNOWS what she did. And she owns them to most if not to some extent. And in my eyes, that's what makes her special.
Even though Canto 2 is over that doesn't mean that Rodion's time in the limelight is over, Sonya is still around and will likely play a larger roll in the future, in fact it's likely that every sinner will get a "part 2" so to speak for their canto's
Yeah, I do agree, if we get 4 Cantos a year, that means that LC will end at the beginning of 2025, which would be an extremelt short life for a gacha game. I say we will get at least 18 cantos, if not 24.
Given the space on the Mission Select for both a Purgatorio and a Paraiso set of Cantos next to the Inferno tab, I’d say we may very well get 2 more Cantos for each sinner, if things follow a pattern for that long.
So far all the Dantes squat the have to face their demon Eventually and Judging by the past experience the little revolutionaries would not have a happy ending?

I feel like her Rosespanner ID showcases her flaws as a person best.
She means well, as shown in her giving away her winnings from online poker to freely give her employers bonuses. She pays them well, doesn't she?
But she still overworks them, she can't be assed to do the boring paperwork herself and so shoves it off to her underlings like Meursault, and would much rather be out and about doing Fixer jobs.
She is selfish and not really a "team player" in that sense, but not malicious.

Important to note that, like every other sinner, she is based off a character from a book, in her case, crime & punishment. The main character in that one have a major superiority complex, and also thought he was special, and wanted some way to prove himself, thinking himself akin to someone descending from Napoleon. He goes to kill a money lender old lady who lives in the neighborhood, who isn't very liked due to taking advantage of the poor, Rodion himself being a struggling law student, though it was not really about the money, but to prove himself superior through this action by killing the old lady, and showing it barely matters to him or whatever. Unlike in Limbus however, when he does this, he ends up running into the lender's younger sister whom I think was pregnant, and murders her too cause she saw what he did in order to cover up his own crime.
Rodya in Limbus ran away, and refuses to tackle her own past, most likely out of fear of confronting the fact she made a mistake, and she isn't special. In the book, unlike what he had thought, he was consumed by guilt, and paranoia, especially when the police start investigating the murder, and borders on schizophrenia, especially due to murdering the sister. Sonya in the book is a local prostitute who sells her body to make a living, who ends up getting closer to Rodion, he eventually can't take the pressure and guilt anymore and confesses, is taken to prison, pays for his crimes and comes out of prison with Sonya still waiting for him, willing to help him start anew.
One other important thing which was why I thought Rodya turned down Sonya’s offer was her realizing that Sonya had known full well that she would given to emotions and kill the pawn broker which begs the chilling question of whether or the neighborhood being slaughtered was something Sonya knew about as well. That combined with how willing he is to work alongside Herman (the G corp lady) makes me lean towards the interpretation that Rodya was right in turning down Sonya’s offer entirely based on who he is working with but we still don’t really know how the Golden boughs will be used so I imagine that once we get more info on Sonya we’ll get more on Rodya too
Hermann is now a director of N.corp, which is essentially being one of the owners who run things, N.corp having multiple directors, and she is considered one of the more important ones, G.corp was her old partnership.
your theory make sense, obviously rodion isnt the only one who are against Sonya 's "waiting for chance" strategy , as the newest time killing time event there is many other who against him as well. And even Sonya manage to tell Rodion what will happen, either she wont believe it or other people will kill the tax collector eventually because people are suffering daily from extortion. So he need an example to prove he is right, that "this is not the time to act yet". So rodion 's naive attack on tax collector is a win win situation for Sonya, proving that he is right about waiting for a perfect chance to act, and also shut up all the opposite voice within their Syndicate. Also even if he can help these people and tell them to escape, it will put him in the corporation 's execution list because you cant rely on these people wont sell you out when their life are at risk (some will got caught eventually)
@ajitae1460 Yeah tkt did such a good job exploring Rodioh so much to the point that Im putting all of my limbucks on her being the next one to get a visit from the city’s favorite self love specialist. But Ive always just found these types of stories fascinating to think about, can you really claim to be acting as champion for the common person when one is so willing to turn a blind eye to those in need right now? It just reminds me a lot of themes and concepts explored in lob corp. The paradox of sending thousands of the souls to the slaughter over and over again for ten thousand years, meanwhile becoming the beating heart that sustains all of the other wing’s atrocities. Which is probably the most knife twisty part of the city for me, even if lob corp was the perfect wing and could just generate limitless energy without anyone having to suffer in its creation, the evils that energy is used to fuel far outweigh the worst of what lob corp actually did. But admittedly after seeing more of the yuro’s actions, seeing that they have spread out of the backstreets and into the nests. I do not know the exact means but its clear that Sonya has been making strides.
Meanwhile the time ripper has been nabbed by the LCA and carted off to who knows where. So ultimately here is what I see the current situation as. The city is a hell for everyone, there is no possible way to exist without committing sins towards yourself or others be it knowingly or unknowingly. There is no one group even with all of the magical wish mugifins in the setting that could fix the city. It takes multiple groups to keep trying to roll that dice at building a better world. Its like Binah said, even if you break a cycle only to end up in another, what matters most is that you succeeding in breaking it once. Meaning it can be done so again. With each break of the circle the city changes. The head losing less and less of its monopoly on power. Factions like Yuro or the LCCB are not fighting for their own happy ending or even for anyone else. They are trying to create a world where possibility could exist. Where people have the privilege of being able to do the right thing.

Rodion is one of my fav characters because she is concious of everything. She plays off cool and tries to fix things, but sees of her ways will mostly end up in disaster
Seeing this video after playing Time Killing Time it really helps to fully contextualize Rodyas character and her strengths but also her shortcomings. Really nice insight into her and it does line up with her here, 8 months in the future.
I got to say, I have not seen anyone see through Rhodia well enough.
Rhodya is not just her guilt, but the fact that she really wanted to feel that she was someone able to make a ripple, a change. The inbook Rhodion wasn't motivated just by justification that world without the hag would be a better place, but also often pondered about split of people into the cmmon and the great, wanting to witness himself as a "great" one, able to change the course of history.
She appears so lighthearted to everyone, but has she ever truly loved the other people, or was driven by selfishness? By desperate need to be someone who matters?
Those feelings are something we see in negative light, but, really, are they not something we *have* felt? PM games, either through abnormalities or characters let us witness emotions and feelings that truly feel like taken from depths of our consciousness. Dark, obscure feelings we rarely can name, ever more rarely - explain. And i LOVE it. Because when you cannot express something so heavy, so thorny and uncomfortable, and then you have a game look into your face and say: "I see you. I acknowledge you.", something within you... feels better.
I gotta say, I am curious about your take on the next two. I've spent better part of my limbussin dissassembling Sinclair and Yi Sang, with jabbed guesses at Ishy and Heath, and i've probably written more pages about it in reddit threads than my own thesis had when i graduated xD.
Not just Sinclair's liminality... but mostly Yi Sang, especially, as i've seenin him something more than a relatable character - but a mirror reflection of myself, clear and painful enough for me to be able to quite literally follow in his footsteps.

This reminds me a lot of Diwa’s Canto 2 streams on how Sonya isn’t just Sonya in the book but also the other side of Rodion.

I remember reading somewhere that some of the character’s 3 star variants - the ones that were released on each character’s respective chapters- represented their “bad end”, I.e. Gregor continuing to serve in G Corp, Sinclair following ‘Kromer’ path, etc.
the reason why Rodion didn’t get one was because the joining the limbus company IS her ‘bad end’
I heard that Gregor’s G Corp ID is actually named after that blonde G Corp soldier in the flashback, so not necessarily his “bad end” ID like Sinclair’s N Corp ID, which isn’t him replacing anyone but one of his own personal alternate paths.

In other news, personally I think both songs and rodion are idiots, neither side was right here, rodya is impulsive and acted out in a way that made everything worse, and Sonya has so MUCH stuff just classed as “acceptable losses” that even if he DID succeed it would take at most his life time before everything goes to h377 in a hand basket again, he is leaving the door open for people to use his “acceptable losses” methods for their own selfish gain, which undermines his own system. Unless he makes himself an immortal god emperor then corruption is inevitable,

I always thought DYWGBH followed Rodya’s theme of being silly and happy yet tragic in a sense. Also working to death like the neighbors and slaves.
damm... that changed my perspective of the character, at the end of canto 2 I was kinda dissapointed of rodya since her conflict wasn't exactly finished but I guess since the story isn't done there can be more of her even if her canto has ended

So this is a great video but I must say that I personally disagree with the end idea
I personally believe that the message of the canto at least implies support of rodyas ideas of action being important.
This is reflected in the plans that ada creates. It is claimed as perfect, flawless impossible to go wrong and it is a point of humor that the gang fuck it up so severly.
But consider the end card game, the original plan was to use stored luck to gain powers. Something which was banned. If the original "flawless" plan had been enacted dante would have gotten squashed. Similarly misses kulikitakati would still going to kill the winner.
I feel like that is reflecting the two philosophies. You can try and plan every action but you cant expect everything to go as expected. In the end it is important to do something rather than wait for a perfect time.

To summarise - very caring person desperately trying to not care due to past trauma.
I love this, I thought this video will pull a Communism bad therefore Sonya bad on his analysis. But I'm glad you did show its deeper than that. Sonya is not exactly an arm chair revolutionary like Rodya claims, he is more dangerous, he is a Stalinist with backing. This means that Sonya has an organized force rapidly radicalizing people who even are a bit receptive to his politics. He has a small military force that is uniquely independent in organizing. Unlike the fanatic religious groups, or lifeless followers of the City. Sonya has a group with conviction that doesn't revel in pain or destruction. Which parallels Lobotomy Corp. They have a "all opposition for your goal is good" outlook.
Rodya opted to do things on her own, she probably thought in doing that the consequences will fall on her only. Sonya on the other hand, ask everyone in the organization to make a small sacrifice with him to avoid great damage via collective action. That's why he keep on asking Rodya to wait. Like how Stalin claim only when Soviets fully industrialize they could achieve communism. And that progression was brutal.

As a socialist myself, I have to agree with rodya on this one. The ONLY way for Sonya to achieve his goal is to overthrow the entirety of the city (especially the Head). Putting action to this is suicidal unless you have ALL colors and color candidates on the same page. Until then, those are just lofty ideals used to gather more forces. It's still relatively harmless to the city.
If he is amassing a force, that's a good first step, but the next one has to be getting enough manpower and weapons to execute the seizure of power by force (the powerful will not give up power by asking nicely). I seriously doubt he'll ever get to that last part leading to more Rodyas

The whole story of Rodion in this game is about what happens if you act impulsively and without a theory. That's why when you're a part of a group, especially political one, you firstly talk it through with others, plan out your next steps and only then act upon it. It seems like a common sense, but people nowadays think that if you don't actively do something to "make the world better" preferring to talk about it first then you're just an armchair expert and your opinion sucks.

Canto 2 is easily the worst Canto in the game which sucks cause Rodion is super cool and her story is awesome in concept the execution fell super flat.
