One of the legendary guitarist in the PH. Damn!!!
Dati ini-imagine ko lang collab nila, ngayon naging totoo na!!❤❤🔥
I love that Paul still can learn something and is prepared to be the student still. Respect my man!
Seeing Paul pretending to be surprised by this music theory is so funny, at the same time, though, it shows how humble and respectful he is with his guest!

I'm glad you found perf de castro. That guy is a living legend here in the Philippines.
This is a crossover we never knew we needed! Thank you Paul and Perf!
Great video… I just discovered your channel… this is good content… I might subscribe… need to sleep on it another night…. maybe I hit that button tomorrow… can’t be too careful with that stuff!
Hahaha!
totally like you you had nothing to do with it,,,, whích of course you did... but us humble germans we tend to remain silent.... If you have Paul using your facilities call it, out it will help both of you... and for the younger generations... we need to keep Douglas Adams relevant
sleep on it? dude, you'll miss so much great content. Just sub and start watching his vids, forget sleep :D
It's not a big thing. You just have to GENTLY tap like and subscribe. It helps sooo much!
C'mon, Henning, drink the koolaid...
EY !!! NICE COLLAB coming from my two Guitar idols ! Perf n Paul !!
First of all, holy bokeh on that first shot! What aperture setting was that?! ;)
Excellent video, and great to see you with Perf. I'm looking forward to all the 42GS3 videos!
it's weird with out you. where are you, man? LOL! ||stay safe, man!
He shot it on my FX3 with the Sony GMaster 24mm with an F1.4 and a variable ND filter… you camera need! Miss you my friend!
That was my first question as well, RJ :)
What's this here? The meet up of all famous Guitar CZcamsrs? (exclude me lol)
i would like to see rj with paul and perf
Sir perf is a legend it self ngl... i watch alot of his and content too and having this collab both legends in my book
I played with an older gentleman, he was in his 80's, who played an old 70's Ibanez like that. At first I thought he was playing a Gibson 335 or something because for some reason he had sharpied out the Ibanez logo on the head stock. You couldnt let that fool you though, he was one hell of a guitar player, he had grew up in AZ and moved to LA and played with all the great singers and bands in his younger days. When we would take a break from playing he would sit and just tell stories and stories of all the people he had played with, he was incredible.
During the band explosion in the 90s in the philippines, Perf played in a band called Blues Trio, they were in my opinion the first band who played electric blues with a great guitarist named perf de castro. Perf is a rock guitarist who also played one of the best blues guitar in his generation. He also has a degree in music major in classical guitar.
Such an amazing jam!! So great to see Perf in your vid, didn't expect this crossover at all! Greetings from PH 🇵🇭
Holy smokes, was this the best mini tutorial ever! I was expecting I'd watch this clip over coffee, but after Step 2 I *had* to grab the guitar and play along! Now my coffee is cold, I am happy to have learned a new thing, Perfecto has one new follower, and I'm off to practice it some more. Thanks!
Ha! Same exact experience!
Yes, I blame these two too for making my dinner cold and making the wife complain why I'm not eating with the family. These guys are unhealthy for the head, the body and relationship, LOL!
Yeah, similar! It's late evening and lots of neighbours in earshot, so I don't usually have my guitar out this late, but I coudn't resist. This kind of music sounds even more laid back played with quiet finger picking. Even if they can hear me it wouldn't be annoying anyway. Top Video thanks Paul Davids.
This is absolutely one of the best and most helpful breakdowns of the blues structure I've ever come across. Thanks so much to both of you. I really enjoy this channel and all the invaluable information you're sharing for free.
Couldn't agree more and I've been playing guitar longer than either of the guys have been alive lol. Love learning new stuff - you never stop learning your instrument :)
Really? I know Paul's intentions here were honorable but let's not get carried away...
I’ve been watching a lot of your videos and learned a lot from you Paul. But seeing this video surprised me as a Filipino because Perf is one of our inspiration and a real legend in our country. Sometimes I feel like that I’m losing the flame in my passion (cause of work) but I like how humble and hungry you are and inspires me to learn and love my music 💯
:::tears and tittering::: i'm so emotional. It's so precious. guitarists have discovered bass. ;)

I’ve watched a scadzillion guitar videos. This was the most advanced-made-simple blues ever! I absolutely loved this video!!! Thanks both of you! I have enough stuff to mess around with for years.
I got an old blues guitar book about 20 years ago, and it had that 'secret' of the blues in it. It took me years to fully appreciate how genius that simple concept is.
What’s the concept?
Very enjoyable conversation and lesson!
Also, those guitars… 😍
This opens up the mind to the chords, the notes, the timing and how it all fits together.
Great video Paul!❤️
You know a guitarist is good when a full band is heard in the background whenever he plays.
Wtf...i laughed my ass off
Hey Paul, have you ever thought that one of the greats is watching your videos and actually learning something? Like Eric Gales or John Mayer?
(I consider you one of the greats btw)
Perf’s lesson on guitar music theory deserves more credit
So humble these guys are!! Learning constantly and also spreading the knowledge!!!💓💓💓💓💓🙏🙏🙏
Wow Sir Perf and Paul ! A collab we didn't ask for but we needed.
It's nice to see Paul playing reverse roles here. This is where you learn in a situation like we're watching. Good video
this is one of the best blues guitar videos ive ever seen on youtube
4:55 It's the riff to _Rock and Roll_ by Led Zeppelin. One of the first riffs I learned as a kid.
It's amazing to see Paul and Perf play and teach the secret to Blues Rhythm Guitar.😊 Blues is very fun to play..."Mabuhay ang Pinoy!" 🔥Rak en Roll!🤘😁
like the branding "Paul & Perf"
He's philipino too?
@@joelstephenson8017 Yeah dude, He's one of the best and most respected guitarist in the Philippines.😊..please listen to his former band Rivermaya, songs like "214" and "Awit ng Kabataan". or his Hendrix cover somewhere on CZcams. Cheers! 🤘

Wow... Hanep... Thanks Paul for having Perf De Castro on your channel... He is one of the greats here in the Phillipines...
Thank you Perfecto for sharing your knowledge. I love your friendliness.
This is one of the best "2 people that don't know each other that well" video. Very natural and humble, like you both were giving space to each other without sounding overly enthusiastic and talking over each other. Great, Thanks that was Perfecto! :P
That trick with the 3rd and the flat 7th was really neat! It just goes to show the power and versatility of the tritone. Thanks Paul and Perfecto 🎸
The two-note wonder
Robin Trower - Winterland Concert 1975 , Best I Have Ever Heard .
WTF!!!!! Only two strings and 3 frets. Absolutley mindblowing!!!!!!
That step 3 is also the secret to playing Hammond organ on blues while leaving lots of room for the guitarists to shred/wail/whatever. Just play that interval and fiddle with the Leslie speed and drawbars, and folks will think you're a keyboard genius. Provided you pay attention, listen, and fit in, of course.
It’s crazy i knew the A7, D7 and E7 chord shapes already, but never had it click that the shape of just the 3&4 strings is the same just a fret apart.
Sometimes you can hear something 20 different ways until that 1 example makes the lightbulb go off.
The blues lesson we've all been waiting for! Thank you for this guys!
It's like 2 kids playing joyfully. Fun fun fun!
Thank you Paul and Perfecto for a great eye opener! I´ve never experienced a better logic explanation to "get it" ever. Not with words but within my mind/soul!
DAMMIT!!! I THOUGHT ITS A GLITCH!
Perf X Paul!!!
Hahaha,😂 ako din akala ko namamalikmata ako sa thumbnail na magkatabi si Perf at Paul. 😂ayus sikat na si idol Perf, turuan mo rin si Paul ng solo ng 214 hihi.🎸😂
I remember when I first bought my Philippine-made guitar. I asked Sir Perfecto on his channel and he replied. Much respect for this guy.
P.S.
The secret to the blues is to play from the heart. I remember my all-time favorite Lightning Hopkins. He plays the same old chords, and yet he always has something new and unexplainable emotion in each of his songs. That is because he is the blues, and the guitar is just an extension of himself. Be the Blues!
It’s wonderful to see how much fun you’re both having sharing your passions, top tips, great stuff!
Thank you youtube for bringing me here! Perf LEgend!
Really set more than a few things straight for me. Love it.
I discovered Perfecto a month ago, also just a great human being! This needs to be a series, lol.
Paul Davids and Perf. I cannot believe it! 😮😮😮
I was dead when Paul said at 17:45, "... Let me know in the comments if I... never mind". He knows that guitar is like 2 grand so he backed out real quick haha.
Great video!
Perf de castro is one of my influences in playing the guitar. This is good stuff. Nc one paul! 😎🤘
This was AWESOME! I love that it can be broken down so simply to the components 3rd and 7th without having to fly all over the place. The best part of the blues is those chromatic steps. They guide you and the listeners ear. It's predictable, but in the very best way.
perfecto is one of the best great guitarist in philippines.. proud filipino here..
Our very own sir Perf 😊proud Pinoy here. You both are Legends! Thanks for sharing your guitar knowledge to us.
Omg that’s so awesome to see Perf with Paul. So proud! Considering I saw Perf while growing up back in high school in Don Bosco and now we here. Keep it up! 💪🙌

The collab that I wanted ❤️. Perf actually helped me a lot in music theory for guitarist through his videos and also you sir davis, your lessons also helped me a lot. Tnx for sharing both of your talents to the world 😁.
Brilliant, so every time the 3rd and 7th slip back a fret, the 7th becomes the 3rd and the 3rd becomes the 7th if applied to the cycle of 4ths.
Awesome lesson, outlined impeccably, making the beauty of the blues so much more accessible, Fantastic lesson. Thanks
I can’t thank you both enough for this. Playing this way is much more enjoyable to me. 🙏🤓🤟❤️
I learn more from these sessions than books. Thank you Paul
Damn… this is actually a good lesson. I can’t believe how easy it is and playing it feels like you been playing blues for little while.
So laidback, I love it. Mr. Perfecto seems like a really chill dude to have a jam with
Thank you both!!! You guys are amazing. Lots of great stuff to work on. Cheers
incredible my brother! I admire your work.
it would be even better if Portuguese subtitles were made available to us from Brazil.

Excellent lesson guys. Thanks so much for sharing, very gracious of you both.
So glad Paul could follow Perfecto... He left me in the dust on step3 !
“What’s up?”
“Pretty good, pretty good.”
Thanks for the subtitles.
I have done this many times 😅
@@adeadfish5006 It's like the drive thru. "Is that for here or to go?" "Mmm, I figured I'd just sit here and eat it in front of you."
Seeing Paul pretend to be a beginner guitarist is hilarious
It’s not so much pretending to be a beginner, it’s that he is a teacher and by demonstrating what it’s like to start from the begging level and what it may feel like (obviously a spores up version non nuanced version of it) lets people know it’s on not to know or yet be able. There’s plenty of great guitarist out there, Paul is definitely one of them, but his teaching is outstanding and much more impressive to me
He’s not pretending, he’s being respectful/humble as he’s the student here. We all have something new we can learn.
in fact is pathetic
Shows he is a Gracious, Humble Man.👍
It's great attitude. Success people never stop learning.
Perf is with Paul Davids! Wow! Love you both!
Fantastic collaboration! Perfecto is a true talent.
You have links to all your gear, but we wanna know where’s the link to that outfit?
I started watching thinking "nah, this stuff is too basic". I ended up thinking "uh-oh, that's rather tricky".
Yup. I keep getting lost somewhere down the line. Luckily there is "Replay" ... ;-)
Love to see you two sharing thoughts with each other. Hope to see more like this.
Pride of the Philippines! Go Perf! Practice makes Perfecto!
Paul, I love that you can absolutely schredd the blues every day of the week, yet you still stop to learn the fundamentals and practice the basics. Even though I (and most of us im sure) have played a blues hundreds of times, this has given me the chance to slow down with you and learn the basics with you. Something I don't often do. For that I am grateful to you! Thank you for the great work, and keep it up!
Wow! I can't imagine to see both of you jamming together. Both of you are great guitarist. Kudos 👍 God bless 🥰

Paul, this was really a great post...much appreciated!!!! I've found at 54 years of age, you still can learn a ton of stuff every single day...love the channel, keep up the good work. Your production value with your videos is spot on. Cheers! - RT
Wait... WHAT!? Paul and Perf in one video???? OMFG!!!
Going with chords progressions horzontally or vertically or both is such an achievement in my guitar playing. Now combining it with the colour tones. That is mind-blowing! Thanks so much!
Thank you for making me a better guitarist every video… I appreciate the time you put in for this!
Thank you both,
Perfecto and Paul...
Two legends sir perf and paul davis!👍👍👍
I love playing rhythm guitar, and I love the blues. This is so informative and helpful.
Blues is played with soul and heart ... don't forget
As a guitarist being able to play the blues IMO is essential. Throughout the history of music, people have always played the blues in many forms - fast, medium, slow, funky, sophisticated in different meters and avant-garde. It's still the blues! Cool video thanks for keeping it going Paul!
Wonderful stuff, thanks to you both. Always in a rut playing the blues, great to have some new ideas to explore.
This the best collaboration in guitar channels. It really is just PERFECT
Took me too long to find the slow E march in blues - plus the turn around, and now this fits perfectly into my recent studies. Almost psychic! Thanks Paul and Perf.
Hey guys that was awesome. been playing the blues for 50 years and i got so much out of that its crazy. TX
This is the first time I click the like button first before watching the video. Sir Perf is an icon in the Philippine guitar community. Thanks Paul for guesting sir Perf. :)
