Merci, sincèrement 🎉
Frank said”I had to pinch myself on many mornings knowing l could hit the notes so easy”.He just knew how good he was without being bigheaded. He was on adrenaline pills.
Me too
Old Blue Eyes tried his hand at two weekly TV variety series, one for CBS in the early 50s, the other for ABC in the late 50s.
Mr. Sinatra’s rendition of “She’s Funny That Way” is as satirical as it is heart-aching.
He had such a special way with words.
They should remaster this. It's a jewel for all time
Couldn't agree more!
Agreed!
Totally agree- I’ve never heard him in better voice. ( live) Taking into account the relatively primitive recording technology then, ( and TV mixes are usually dry anyway) he sounds amazing here! The Voice indeed!🎙
Never remaster this work. It’s better original the way HE made it.
What a treat. The Ava years. He’s beginning to grow out of Frankie into Sinatra two years later. Listening to Sinatra here how could Columbia let him go...Thanks...I’ve not heard many of these versions....👍🏻👍🏻
he was let go..because his audience abandoned him...only to return after from here to eternity....and the CAPITAL years....
My pleasure!
Wow.. Blown away. Thought I had seen all the Sinatra there is to watch but some of these are very rare. Sinatra is in amazing vocal shape. Probably best caught on film. You hear some really spectacular notes and tones. It's a crime the Sinatra estate sit on this. Depriving the legacy of Sinatra to new audiences. Hope they get their act together. Clean it up n release these treasures! Thank you for sharing
Wholeheartedly agree with you there! They really need to straighten up and give the people what they want rather than some typical re-releases of stuff we've heard millions of times over already. Glad you enjoyed, it was my pleasure!
Quel beau moment. Des découvertes qui font penser qu'un tel artiste restera unique. Je l'écoute tous les jours. En France il est toujours vendu. Vinyls. Cd. Merci.🎉
There is some truly great stuff in here-the highest non-falsetto note I’ve ever heard from Frank, long-form versions of old tunes with verses included, but my favorite was when the band started on Polka Dots and Moonbeams, Frank went right back to his younger Dorsey band days in voice and the band returned the favor with some nice brass harmonics a la TD.
People definitely I would say either don't know or really underappreciate his television performances. These I find far better than his later records and dare I say some of his early radio work.
This is just too good, had to take a break. Wow!! - and what about that smile and those eyes - -
Overwhelmingly fantastic and fascinating indeed. Glad you enjoyed!
Utterly fascinating. These kinescopes are all new to me. I never realized so much of Frank's early work was recorded. It's too bad Frank didn't get get higher ratings which he deserved while on television. He may have had a more stable television career. Still there is so much to be gleaned from watching these excerpts. Of special note is Frank's transition to a baritone. Perhaps not quite congealed but he was well on his way toward that end. This metamorphosis opened up new vistas in his recordings moving his career into stratospheric heights.
The Sinatra family has been holding onto these recordings for such a long time and has not publicly stated anything about release to the public so hopefully they have something in the works that displays these episodes restored in their full glory and in their entirety as it is what I find exemplifies Sinatra to the maximum after his hay days of being the top, elite, big ,voice from the 40s. Unfortunate that these were during the low point in his career and considered so poorly by the public then, I find these performances and recordings better than almost anything he did in the future.
@@TheSinatraCollection You're right. These are all superlative performances, not a clinker in the bunch. It really would be nice to see them restored. Thanks for the rare treat.
@@ddkoda7412 I absolutely concur. And you are certainly welcome, glad you enjoyed!
Thank you, I’ve been a Sinatra fan since I was 14, I’m 17 now and my love for his music just keeps growing. Thank you, you’ve made my day!
Glad to see new love for Frank sprouting. Anytime Carl!
Off topic, I know, but I have belts older than you.
@@akrenwinkle I have a hat older than you, 1910.
@@carltrotter7622 I got those belts at a department store, not an auction or estate sale.
@@carltrotter7622 I purchased the belts when they were new.
A greatest entertaiment enjoyed this Compillation never knew existed. Thank you so much for sharing.
My pleasure. I'm glad you enjoyed!
Thank you so so much for this. I'm a Frank Sinatra fan but nowadays it's impossible to find old goldies. ❤️
Not a problem! Glad you enjoyed.
A gaggle of great old tunes in there. I still have some of those early FS shows on VHS.
Would you happen to have the one of from January 15, 1952 where Frank sings "My Blue Heaven", "I Could Write A Book", and "P.S. I Love You"? I have been looking everywhere and I just can't seem to find that one particular episode.
@@TheSinatraCollection I can’t recall directly but that may be one (of two) with June Hutton. Will check and reply if I find anything.
@@johnfury6481 I appreciate you looking around for it. I just checked every resource I could and wouldn't know where to look for that particular episode.
This is an undiscovered treasure of an early version of the Sinatra show that I wasn’t aware of; oh my god Frank is in magnificent voice. I can totally understand the reason for the “Swoonatra” phase in his career, just listen to the phrasing, tenderness , and pure sensuality when he sings “Love Me”.. nobody before or since ( other than Elvis but in a slightly less refined, more directly sexual manner) has communicated pure sexual and romantic longing in his voice better than Sinatra, bar none. Some of the ladies in this audience seem to agree. I haven’t even listened to/ watched third of the video and already I’m blown away. Frank must’ve been canoodling with Ava during this period methinks.
Glad you enjoyed! A collection of his personal best I'd say and before he became the "Sinatra" we all know and recognize from Capitol and onwards.
He was even better in the early to mid 1940s
@@lrn_news9171 Indeed he was and that was when he had a dulcet and heartfelt tone to his sound which was before his throat hemorrhage in 1950. I will never deny those were his best years but the fact his voice lasted so long from the strain he put on it and the surgery that it's a miracle he was able to keep afloat for another decade after the fact.
Thank you for the updated air dates.
Great work in collecting and archiving ALL of these “memorable vocal moments” as a certain man once said.
Mr. Sinatra would be happy.
My pleasure! Hope they help give you an insight as to where he was not only his career, but also his life when he performed these.
He is so bloody brilliant
A number of these songs were later recorded by Sinatra with arrangememts by Nelson Riddle
It’s back!! Thank you
I would like to personally thank you for compiling these performances together without any comercial interruptions and I’ll explain. I’m a caregiver for a 90 yr old with dementia|Alzheimer’s and when I put the 2 hr show without interruptions from commercials, she’s glued to the tv calm and even sing along to some songs she remembers ,the look of her face of her happy, calm, smiling is precious ,priceless. And I owe it to you my friend. Thank you. Each time I replay it is as if it’s a new program and doesn’t realize is been played multiples times before. I was wondering if u had any more footage or even if u could grab performances on CZcams of him singing in other shows and compile another hour or two. There’s one already out there of 45 mins of variety of performances but it has commercials and have to be on top of it to click them off but it does interrupt the enjoyment ..thanks again ❤
Very touched to hear this helped not just you, but also your patient. I have some video ideas queued up at the moment and I will update this thread again when I have provided more or less what you requested.
This was wonderful to watch absolutely marvelous to see this video. Thanks for posting this here MusicHead thank you.
My pleasure!
At 57:40 her refers to the clean shaven piano player as "Lyle" who was better known later as "Skitch" Henderson. That is probably Henderson's wife Faye Emerson. A while later Bill Mller bcame Sinatra's long time pianist.
.
Fantastic! Great compilation- the last four numbers are primo Frank pre-Capital- Try a Little Tenderness, Old Black Magic and Lover - and a big surprise - a fantastic duet on Penthouse Serenade with June (Mrs Stordahl) Hutton - love a rarity! Any chance you have the full episode of Frank with Perry Como and Frankie Laine where they open with Como, Sinatra, and Laine - and then Frank does a great version of I Get a Kick Out of You? I have this on VHS somewhere but don’t have a player - thanks!
I unfortunately do not and I would not know where to look given I exhausted all of my options. Although I've checked on www.archive.org countless time I don't think I've stumbled across that episode sadly.
Right when I sent that message I actually miraculously stumbled upon the full thing and will post upon your request. Thank you for the suggestion!
I just uploaded it now if you want to watch here it the link. Enjoy! czcams.com/video/ifTWlFQ_wrM/video.html
Thanks for posting :) I’m really beginning to appreciate his output from his earlier periods
Glad to be of service. I got other early posts on my channel, so feel free to check them out!
ABSOLUTE GEM !!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭🙏🏻
Frank you are incredible
“The House I live In” should be our National Anthem
I 100% agree with that. Sounds more American and patriotic than the original anthem. Either that or "America The Beautiful."
AMAZING!
This is amazing
Muchas gracias es la primera vez que escucho una gradación de Frank Sinatra cantando en vivo una de mis canciones favoritas interpretadas por él; Lover.
He seems to have most of his mature ‘50s voice here - showing much of the timing and deeper timbre that would distinguish his Capitol recordings
Wait, for the song You Are Love, does Sinatra have a mustache, if so….. THAT HAS TO BE THE RAREST THING IVE SEEN IN MY LIFE
He does indeed! I call that the “Try to impress Ava with a silly pencil thin mustache” years.
I remember watching a while back on a tape of Sinatra's show him and a young black female singer whose name I forget perform "Button up your Overcoat" but have been unable to find it for a while. Would you happen to know who that singer was and if I can access that video somewhere? That was one of the most charming perfomances I've ever seen.
If you're referring to Toni Harper then I might have that one.
@@TheSinatraCollection yes I did some research and it was the Christmas FS show of 1950 and Toni Harper was in that one and they performed that song. It would be greatly appreciated if you uploaded that if you have that tape!
This is brilliant is there a volume two or three?
I'd compile another one if copyright on this platform wasn't so cutthroat as far as blocking and restricting videos for most people. Not worth putting in that much effort for something that wouldn't be accessible to many.
Oow...Que perfeito.
Thank frank congratulation
❤
What's the name of the third song? The slow one
Blue Skies
Love Me
a few years away from Capital records and Nelson Riddle..which are pop musics greatest achievements....Sinatra not yet capable of creating those recordings.....of course losing the love of your life ...might influence a few of those songs interpretations
Frank should have never gotten rid of George Evans. Ava made him do it and he was so blinded to acquire her and his career went straight down the drain. It wouldn't if George Evans was still around I guarantee you that.
Well this is from the final columbia records era.
The only thing I’m not crazy about is how the producers had to dress him up in ridiculous outfits and cheesy set pieces, or really cringey ‘comedy’ scenarios.. rather than focus just on his absolutely impeccable vocals.
